Silk Road Discussion / What Does Silk Road Mean to You?
« on: October 14, 2013, 08:45:22 pm »
One of the biggest causes of many a heated debate, is that different people see Silk Road in different ways.

For some, it's purely a place where drugs can be bought - hence the 'I don't care just get the site up' attitudes.

For others, it's a place to find anonymous advice that applies to their lifestyle choice - hence threads such as that of DoctorX.

For me, it's a place where I can engage in free discussion without censorship; it's a facilitator that grants me the freedom to put whatsoever I so choose into my own body; it's a community I care for and that I hope cares for me; it's a statement of free personal choice.

What is it to you?

Get your tin foil out peeps, I'm coming in hard with a theory of my own...

...GrahamGreene is actually Libertas, and she's ... (wait for it) ... actually trolling herself.

*Rolls Eyes*

Get real GG, this is silly.

Anybody could be LE.

Simply act accordingly and you'll be fine.

To coin what I believe is the catchphrase of a big British brand (Brits, correct me if I'm wrong here): Every little helps. +1

Off Topic / Re: is it time for violence?
« on: October 14, 2013, 09:20:24 am »
Why would you even consider violence?

Stop and think for a moment about what you want. Perhaps you want the same as me, perhaps you have a different agenda. But once you've mentally articulated your goals, compare those with the most likely consequences of using violence.

Let's look at an example:

I want the freedom to put whatever I want into my own body. I do not think this should be dictated by any government - perhaps the irresponsible use of such substances should be prohibited (such as DUI), but as far as what I do in the privacy of my own home, an abandoned park at midnight, a desert island a few miles off the coast, a private event with other like-minded individuals... what I do in those situations shouldn't be dictated by somebody without the right to control my actions.

Now, I want this freedom. And I want it to be a peaceful freedom.

If I were to take up arms against those who would see to take it from me, that freedom would not be peaceful.

I react with violence, they react with more. I rally supporters, they bring in the army. Either way, somebody ends up dead. And that's NOT cool.

I'm not down with death, pain, violence, anger... I'm fighting here for the peaceful right to control my own body.

What are you fighting for? I hope it isn't war. If it is, choose violence. If it isn't, choose a pro-active yet peaceful revolution.

Good morning.

Could I get a strong black one (coffee, that is)?
Thank you for clarifying, as that could have been taken a completely different way!

"How do you take your coffee sir?"

"I take it how I take my men..."

I could be wrong, but I believe the serious security concerns were linked to a different (now failed) project.

Competitors are not going to be lambasted for simply providing a similar marketplace. It's when they bust the big-ball PR effort, begin to pose a security risk, or start being disrespectful that entire communities descend on them like an avalanche.

I've said it many times. Our goal should not be to take a monopoly. It should be to build a community the way we want it - if others are happy with it, they'll join.

Marketplaces in this deep arena that are built for "what the public wants" will not succeed because they're artificial.

If Project Black Flag is a secure marketplace built on strong community values, I'm sure they'll succeed and wish them the best of luck.

most of us are good people. if we do nothing, they win.

This.

Let the media portray us as murderer, perverts, violent thugs and thieves.

But ultimately, the more villainous we're portrayed to be, the more people will want to see it for themselves, and the more will see that actually, the vast majority of us are none of these things.

The vast majority of us are caring, intelligent, entrepreneurial, fighters for freedom, and strong-willed in the belief of putting whatever substances we want into our bodies.

Anybody remember the creep who kept asking for donations to his suicide fund?

He was quite obviously only seeking attention, and not looking at actually topping himself. If you're serious about that kinda thing, you don't need money. And if you really do and you're going to die anyway, it won't matter if you sell your possessions.

I remember plenty more, that was just a more recent event that sprang to mind.

The Princess Bride should surely be required reading?

I appreciate the comedy here.

But for the sake of the intellectually challenge, I think I should stamp this thread with a disclaimer:

Not To Be Taken Seriously.
