Coincidence that it hits it's all-time high on the day that SR2.0 launches?  I think not.

Not trying to count my chickens before they hatch or anything, but damn good job all!

p.s. I'm thinking some fucking is, in fact, in order Willy.

The statement has a bit of a double-edge to it. Its not conceding, it is stating that "Well this isn't working...they just keep coming back...shit, we'll find other ways to go after them". The question then becomes what methods will they use?

there's gonna be mandatory government keyloggers installed on every computer from next month

Log this fuckers:

Please leave this feature unactivated for the time being, it is being worked on as we speak.

758
I enable this and now everytime I login I get

"A server error occurred and has been reported to the captain. " and the Silk Road logo. Can't even finish loading my listings as a vendor.

Didn't work very well for me. As soon as I clicked the enable checkbox this started when I hit update user.

Annoying to say the least.

Appreciate your frustration Devil Weed Seeds, please bare with us whilst we iron out these kinks.

Rest assured DPR and team are working flat out to fix any and all bugs as they crop up, we should have you up and running soon.

Please hold tight on this issue, I am seeking clarification now.

Will report back ASAP.

Silk Road Discussion / Re: Gwerns recommendations
« on: November 06, 2013, 08:12:39 pm »
I really hope mandatory GPG is happening. Not just for order addresses but also messages. There is literally zero reason not to. If you think saving a couple seconds with worth losing any amount of security you don't belong here.

When you say "I really hope mandatory GPG is happening" do you mean an automated system of PGP encryption built into the site itself or a requirement for all users to use PGP encryption?

Well, the OP made the distinction clear. Automated PGP would be a horrible idea, it doesnt offer any protections if the site is seized because then theyd just have the keys anyways. What they want, and I think is a great idea, is mandatory checking of PGP in messages. You have to do the PGP yourself, but the site checks to see that any "plaintext" it sending has really been converted to a PGP message locally on the senders computer.

A simple script that checks that each message starts with -----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE----- would be a quick and dirty way to do it.

I have been rather sleep deprived this week so I've not been taking in the full context of some posts when reading them.

Well in that case then no PGP will not be mandatory, we are all responsible for our own personal safety, the right to use or not use PGP is a personal choice.

Silk Road Discussion / Re: Two-Factor Authentication using PGP is GENIUS
« on: November 06, 2013, 07:20:54 pm »
Anyone thought about how this might work against you in the end?

PGP key on your computer is definitively linked to your account.
dont they recommend to keep everything on a usb,,which can be encrypted completely

Hide your PGP keychain inside an encrypted VM operating system that is saved on encrypted media like an SD card or USB device. Multiple layers of protection is the key here, have a back up for your back up.

Everyone is at risk from keyloggers, rootkits, malware, fake URL scam/phishing sites etc etc...

This feature insulates you from the risk.

Activate it.

765
I would not imagine this is necessary for the average user but I would obviously recommend all vendors use this feature. Honestly, I'd take it as a compliment if someone tried to impersonate me. :-)
No no, this is totally necessary for every user! the number of people who fell victim to phishing scams on the old market site was massive, please everyone activate this feature, it is for your own protection.
