I rather wait a month and be safe than wait a week and be compromised.

For security reasons I don't think there should be pictures on this site.   reviews alone are how items are purchased.  I also think the review system should be a bit more extensive.  I'm sure these two topics have already been taken into consideration.  I am happy to find these forums and to once again be back in this community.

I cant confirm this but I assume it will be the same as the old SR. Where vendors have the choice of uploading pictures or not. If a vendor feels its unsafe to upload a picture they don't have too. But I am pretty sure the majority of consumers will want to view a picture before they purchase.

Silk Road Discussion / Re: Rules for new Silkroad? Some questions.
« on: October 15, 2013, 02:44:53 am »
I'm sorry I locked the thread.
Your response would have been moot. I locked it because the decision was made.

The rules are the same as the original SR. We will have the wiki up soon,  which you can browse at your leisure

I wish there were a 100% fool proof way to ensure no vendor sells fake powder/product. If you find out how let me know, we will create the perfect marketplace.

I am told, a rough estimate is 1 week. It could easily be double that.

It all depends on how some security checks go, and a private beta test.

Its definitely well underway, and this DPR is the most security conscious person I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. No one wants its release more than him, but he says he wants everything to be 100% right before a public reveal.

You only get 1 chance to launch

Security / Re: POLL: Future Data Retention Policy
« on: October 15, 2013, 02:33:30 am »
Allow a toggle feature that will let the user specify how many days to keep messages (with a default of about 21 days) or allow to turn off message deletion feature.

Some vendors may want 14 days for a while, but then go on vacation for 2 months and can now toggle off message deletion.

allow the following features.
1. purge all messages.
2. delete all previous messages to a specific user dialog (which would probably be used once a dialog has been finished.)

I like this feature.. Toggle between say 1, 7, 14, 28 days.. or "Destruct after reading"

Feature Requests / Re: Force escrow NO FE
« on: October 14, 2013, 10:31:33 pm »
this has been kicked around by the admins in private.

DPR is taking weeding out scammers very seriously. More seriously than the original DPR. However I believe FE is a I necessary evil. There are certain situations where FE is required, for example someone with bad stats or Someone from a hot country.

I believe more in a free marketplace, but with checks and balances to protect FE attempts.

These trolls wants nothing more than to bring attention to themself.

Rapid removal is the best defense against trolls.

Ok I think I have given this thread enough air.

I was the one deleting all his "evidence" post due to the fact they are nothing more than trolling garbage.

The "evidence" providing by the original poster  is clearly doctored images or pointless posts. It nothing more than a poor trolling attempt. And the most convincing evidence he had was the fact that I kept disappearing his threads. That's why I have left this for 24hours.

cigrattesmokingman has received no PM at all. let alone any threatening PMs.

weedblazer/cigrattesmokingman/GrahamGreene are the same person, and I have verified it based on their log in/log out session times.

feel free to PM me if you are concerned with the way I handle these trolls.

I dont use windows.

But not everyone is as computer savvy as us chris. Its nice to offer workable solutions for the 86% of the community who use windows.

I dont personally use pgp4win. But i have never heard this.

There should be no issue with it.

Please make your key 3072bit or more when creating it. I know PortablePGP can only make a 2048bit or smaller key..

I recommend 3072bit and up, just to future proof your key as much as *possible*

Silk Road Discussion / Re: Donations to the new SR
« on: October 14, 2013, 02:00:26 am »
No donations are required. The new DPR has more than enough funds required to build the site.

Please report anyone asking for donations to build the new site. I have already deleted one scammer for trying to ask for donation for a new SR.

Who would really want to use a Marketplace run by someone who cant even pull enough capital together to create it?

Off Topic / Re: Should we assume LE is monitoring this forum?
« on: October 14, 2013, 12:30:57 am »
This has already been talked about.

But If i were you, I would assume everything on every forum is being monitored.. Even if its not being monitored in real time, as soon as you post something to the internet, it is there, on public record.

Security / Re: The big elephant in the room with PGP
« on: October 14, 2013, 12:11:58 am »
This is just spreading false information.

The previous post was correct, The cops would need the private PGP key + the password in question. I never read any information that lead me to believe anyone's PGP was cracked.

PGP is our best line of defense.  & everyone should use 3072 bit or larger key.

IS PGP future proof? No.. However it definitely makes the cops jobs a lot harder..

Silk Road Discussion / Re: Why does this site use Javascript?
« on: October 13, 2013, 11:46:37 pm »
My browser warns me that this forum is trying to run a total of 8 scripts per page.
Why?

I'm asking the question because we know that many users of many .onion sites got caught by a Javascript exploit the last month. Is this another honey-pot site?

This site is definitely not a honey pot site... However the forums are run by a third party forum software called Simple Machines Forums.. They probably have native scripts inbuilt with the forums.

I always recommend turning off JavaScript regardless of which sites you visit. You never regret being too safe.

Silk Road Discussion / Re: Accessing The Vendor Round Table - Updated
« on: October 13, 2013, 10:56:17 pm »
Turning off javascript is a precaution that everyone should take while using Tor, because it greatly reduces the attack surface area by which the service operator could potentially identify it's users with.

Specifically, (as mentioned) when the FBI took over Freedom Hosting in August, they wrote an exploit for a Firefox vulnerability that unmasked Windows users: https://blog.torproject.org/blog/tor-security-advisory-old-tor-browser-bundles-vulnerable

However, nobody has noticed any similar attacks against users of the old SR forums, turning off js is just a precaution here. Your browsing of the forums was most likely *not* unmasked prior.

exactly. The SR Forums are on a different server to main server the Feds seized.. I only recommend people disable javascript as a precaution. You never regret being too safe.
