Silk Road Discussion / Re: Invite-system endangers anonymity
« on: November 08, 2013, 06:00:27 am »
These forums aren't exactly "Private".

I believe (although this is not confirmed) that DPR will be giving anyone who makes a purchase on the market place an auto-invite.

We just want to cut down on spammers & trolls. We will never keep LE out..  Now if we find a spammer, we can delete them, then they have to go through the rigger of finding another invite.

Didnt we sort this out in PM?
Did you ever have access to it?

It would be neat, but I am not aware of a Tor based IRC since that doesn't make sense logically.

There are IRC hidden services...

Can you give me an example? I'd love to see how that system functions while maintaining anonymity.

Sure.  We had an IRC server for Silk Road for a long time.  We switched to another that was owned by someone else.  Now we are on another server.  I don't want to publicly post it though so I will go fetch you a common public one.  You really really don't want to talk to anyone on any of the public ones though.  You will only find people that you really do not want to talk to.  Here are four public IRC hidden services,

Cheers mate. +1 if I got any left. I will check these out and do some research on how IRC can function within Tor. As a dev, it doesn't make much sense without a level of vulnerability.

Tor just acts a as a Socks 5 Proxy.  just means all traffic goes through TOR just like on your web browser.  Any application that you can hook a proxy upto, can be hooked upto tor.

There are SR related TOR IRC servers.

After the downfall of SR they have decided to close up and have become invite only.

Before anyone PM's me, I don't have access to them, and I cant get an invite to them.

If your so concerned about invite codes. Don't invite anybody.

Only DPR has access to see who invited who. And we wont hold you accountable to your invites unless you have invited coachello or a spammer/scammer multiple times.

If your concerned, don't invite anybody. Feel free to ask me for an invite code via PM and you can pass that on, so there is no link to your name.

I think your concern about anonymity are a little far fetched. It would involve:
* You inviting a vendor
* Vendor getting busted
* Forums being taken down by police
* police investigating all the invites and links
* police finding that you invited said vendor then deciding to follow this up
* police somehow linking your anonymous nick name to your real life nick
* police finding something to bust you on? Inviting someone is not illegal

Thank you, you did everything right. That makes my job so much easier.

I will get this account deleted so you can register it.

Off Topic / Re: The Australian Thread
« on: November 07, 2013, 11:40:36 pm »
someone sent me this.

You Aussies may be interested:

I haven't talked to DPR specifically about the discuss feature. If it was re-implemented i would only want 1 thread per vendor not 1 thread for every vendor + every product + every product list..

Thats just my opinion.

In regards to the OP.. Every feature of SR will be implemented with the exception of perhaps the discuss button. After that some new features may be implemented, but lets not get too far ahead of ourselves :)  DPR Is aiming to get at a minimum every feature implemented as quickly as possible, but these things do take time.

Silk Road Discussion / Re: Accessing The Vendor Round Table - Updated
« on: November 07, 2013, 10:19:03 pm »
**UPDATE 07/11/2013***
DO NOT message me to get verified if you do not have an old account on the forums that sufficiently proves you were a vendor.
for example: It is not good enough to link me to a conversation that someone had mentioning your nick as a vendor.

In this scenario, you can message DPR directly and pay your $200 bond. or you can wait until the wallets are activated and purchase your account then.

I am getting 100+ messages a day and I can not handle mentioning the same thing over and over. From now on, if you message me with insufficient proof, I will not reply to you.

If you have sufficient proof, once I verified you, you will have access to the vendor round table. Please keep checking. That is how you will know you are verified.

Feature Requests / Re: MOD's READ THIS!
« on: November 07, 2013, 02:30:35 am »
Right now the forums are invite only.

We also have a lot more tools at our disposal to fight spam then the old Forums.

Spam should not be an issue here.

Feature Requests / Re: Current BTC value under products
« on: November 07, 2013, 12:56:32 am »
It would be nice to show the current BTC value somewhere on the page. Similar to BMR, it shows the value directly under the products in the top three currency denominations.

I assume you mean the exchange? Like 1BTC = $265 USD.

This also on the TO DO list. :)
