Using safe-mail.net?
« on: December 12, 2013, 01:21:44 am »
I have been trying to connect with my buyers through safe-mail.net to stay on top of things while the site is down. Does it not work with TOR I can't seem to figure out how to send a message. If its not a good email service too use please any advice is appreciated.

Yup. Works through Tor but only if, when you login, you select the option 'Fast, No Scripts Enabled' (at least I think that's what it's called).

Other options let you see shit but not click shit.

You need a mailtor or a riseup.net account. Safe-mail sucks.

I was able to connect to my vender with safe-mail thru TOR using PGP on each message.

Don't recall having to make any special settings, seemed to work fine first try...

NightCrawler clued me into mailtor.net (hidden service) slow as balls but tormail clone.

Riseup is pretty good. You need to request an account though. Write a statement of intentions and stuff.

Probably because you dont have java disabled. When java is enabled it works, with java disabled it will need to have the 'no script' option selected.

That's a good point, I'll check that next time I log in...

You should def look now at your tor settings. you never want to have javascript enabled.

tools>options>content. Uncheck the selection of 'enable javascript'. Stay safe :)

Correction - the option to select, is: Fast (no scripts or icons)

Wait, where exactly is this setting? Can't find it under preferences.

I also recalled that I needed to turn off IP Checks, under preferences/general/IP Checks

More of an annoyance really, but it would report an error each time TOR switched IPs

The option is right at safe-mails log in. the third drop box field, under where you enter your PW.

As far as I am aware having java script on tails is not known to be a risk, is this correct?

That's a really good question. My understanding is that the specific javascript exploit that was discovered was also patched in newer versions of TOR. However, still seems to be a controversial subject:

Always heard rumors that safe-mail is not safe though..

Don't care who's email you're going through, at the end of the process, your safety is only protected by your trust in the other party and your use of PGP...

safe-mail.net is run by Mossad the Israeli Intelligence service, they have back door access. So always use PGP and don't put "MY ORDER OF MDMA" or something alike in the subject field just put "HEY THERE"

You are visiting a site outside of Safe-mail.net.
Close this browser window    Remove frame

This is the message I'm getting when I try to verify localbitcoins account.

Any ideas?
