im definitely hoping for a more secure site, i highly doubt ill be making any purchases anytime soon. ill just lurk the site for a few months like i did the original and see how things play out.

i would like some users here to elaborate on why they full hearted trust the admins and mods here, is it the same team, how do we know, other then a couple mods, ETC . what is there to change but i really want people who a ready to dive in to this head first explain why they want this so bad, i think its because we were VERY comfortable with SR and we as humans desire that same level of comfort

Please no butthurt, i have the best intents here but i feel so unsafe its ridiculous, i want to see it play out for a while, i see so many people with such great allegiance to the new SR and i think there should be some more cautious

No one should full heartedly trust anyone here. Admins mods DPR anyone.

No one should feel comfortable either. ESPECIALLY after everything that's gone down, security should be our biggest concern. I'd rather wait months for a new market than have this site launch before it's 110%. That said, new DPR definitely seems more concerned with security over all other factors.

In response to your query though, the only level of trust I have is the same level of trust I had with the old site. If you protect yourself and take security as the highest priority the chances of either catching a bust or getting scammed are relatively low. Assuming that the old escrow and resolution system will be in place, scams will be manageable. As long as everyone takes their security seriously and avoids silly mistakes the community will thrive.

Remember, you'll never regret being too safe or cautious. You will regret being lax.

For general, everyday use, yes it's the same.

If you want to get picky though, GMT is a time zone whereas UTC is actually an atomic time scale.

To the casual observer just wanting to know if he or she is late for work though, the practical difference is less than a second.

The level of security on the new site is so far beyond the first one they are incomparable. I was very upset when Silk Road was taken down, now on the eve of the launch of it's replacement I have come to terms with the realization that this was an inevitable and necessary step in the evolutionary process for the birth of SR2.0.

Skepticism and fear are also natural and healthy emotions to be experiencing right now, tomorrow is going to be a good day

I agree. The levels of excitement over the new SR seem a little over the top.  While I like the narrative "the Feds took down the SR, but it came back stronger", and genuinely want it to be a success, it's interesting how many members of this community are picking their 'team'.  You have your pro-BMR people, your anti-Sheep mob and a seemingly huge number of people who are supporting the new SR as the only marketplace they will use. 

As da bears points out, the original SR (& forums) was likely the most compromised and infiltrated of all the marketplaces, yet people like the brand name and the familiarity, so are putting their faith  in the launch of SR 2.0.    I just hope all these people who've been holding on for SR2.0 have been using this time to learn PGP and take other security measures.
