Hi,
I notice a lot of threads with people asking for small amounts of BTC to make up the little missing from there order. Does it bother you? Me i don't really care, but find it interesting how many of them actually get the "loans". what's your thoughts on the subject?
Oh yeah can if some kind soul wants to "lend" me .xx BTC, I'd be great-full. lol ;)
sign,
Me

Doesn't really bother me. I personally wouldn't ask for a loan though...
-
I have needed 2. One for a listing from BTC Buddy so I could, of all things, buy BTC. I Got it, and paid it back, with interest, within 24 hours,
The second was when I was at the end of my shopping and was buying that last, cheap thing, but was 60 cents short on shipping, that one was just given to me. By two people, actually, had to refund one. :)
So no, they don't bug me in the least. 2 of the orders I purchased today are no longer up, if I would have not gotten the first loan, I wouldn't have gotten them. I try to loan when I can. Or just give. I mean, really, is a couple bucks gonna change my life THAT much? No.
:)

I find them somewhat annoying, since they clutter up the discussion page that is supposed to be about talking about SR itself. It only took one person successfully getting a loan before everyone else saw that and realized they could still get the drugs they wanted even though they didn't calculate for transaction fees properly.

Generally, they're in the 'off topic' or 'product requests' sub forums, seeing as they're both of those things, I really don't see what you're complaining about. Helping eachother out is part of being a community. Pay it forward. That kinda deal. Not a 'grumpy old man, get off my lawn, mine mine mine.' kinda deal.

it bothers me. they need to get their shit together and stop beggin on the side of the road

Doesn't bother me. I'm happy to lend people small amounts BTC to help them out. I love silk road and its members.

It is slightly annoying just because I bet a lot of them are people creating accounts for free coin or just doing it for free coin, and not actually come up short this one time. Also, it is annoying when someone asks for a loan and doesn't return it although I don't really care about the money, but they should of asked for a gift and I would of gave it to them just the same, but don't lie.
I came up a dollar short today and posted in someone elses loan thread, but no luck. I ended up getting BTCs in my account and making the purchase anyways.
I don't mind helping people, but it bothers me knowing that some are probably taking advantage of this and think they are slick.

This was my exact though when I first saw a thread like that. But then again like anything here, I feel you should put in anything you aren't willing to lose.

This makes me smile cause it show that this is more than a market place. It shows that there is good will even in environment that one wouldn't necessarily except.
Have you consider the fact you got the order prevented someone else from getting it? No ill will but the to say a loan got you an order is a little greedy. no?
And I'll glad these loans do get paid back. I still not sure if they bother me or not?

Doesn't bother me at all. I have been a little short a couple of times and people have pulled through and helped me out in a pinch.
As far as cluttering up the discussion I think the "how do I get bitcoins?" question or similar ones do a lot more cluttering.
Peace :D

Not gonna lie, I've been in that situation before. Doesn't bother me.
It's very easy to miscalculate SR fees and btc vendor fees. Then, on top of that, you have to take into account the bitcoin fluctuation, which can often change value drastically AFTER purchasing your bitcoins.
Obtaining bitcoin is a pain in the ass sometimes haha :D

They didn't annoy me at first, but given that no one I've lent money to has ever paid me back, now they piss me off because I know they're just scamming for change.

Please don't lump everyone in together. I paid James Taylor back, plus some for his troubles. Some of us aren't douchebags. Promise.

Yeah, it doesn't annoy me because I don't give people loans haha. I have no idea who they are so how the fuck do I know if they're gonna pay me back?
Maybe if I were feeling generous and had some extra coin....

I don't mind giving people a little change here and there if I happen to have some left over. I understand that BTC fluctuations can fuck up your plans and it can be a pain in the ass to go through the entire $ to BTC process. If you need an entire BTC on more, then I kinda feel like that's on you and it was your responsibility to make sure you got some extra BTC into your wallet before making some kind of major purchase. I know some people have actually done the >1BTC loan/payback with interest thing on here with some success, and good for them, but for now I'm only inclined to hand out the occasional $.25 or so. I also feel like you should only need to ask for spare BTC change once. I know there's no good way to enforce that, but I wish that after coming up short that one time and needing to panhandle on the forums a bit, you'd learn your lesson and make sure to grab some extra BTC next time.

It's not that bad, i mean this IS a good community.. little change left over isn't bad

Totally agree with you towelie.
Ive helped some people out, and ive been helped. I think its great that people are willing to help each other out in a pinch. Its shitty that scammers exist, but everyone gets theirs in the end, and karmas a bitch.
Yesterday during the sale I was short literally 25 cents. I miscalculated because I didnt know what the shipping cost was going to be. Anyway I would have totally missed out on this awesome deal if not for a kind soul who helped me out (Thanks again Funkynuts!).
I placed the order, and its in transit as we speak. I am extremely happy people are willing to look out for each other here, and if it does bother you dont read the post!
(Oh btw, my order was the last of the available product and I would have been shit outta luck)

+1
If I could actually give out karma haha.

I think it's wonderful. Shows what a great and generous community we are.
I've never needed a loan because I always give myself a little margin to account for BTC fluctuations from the time I order the BTC until the time I actually make a purchase. Therefore I almost always have some left over. I'm inclined to give fractions of a BTC to those who might need it. Haven't done so yet since I'm usually late to the request. So just recently (as of this morning) I decided I will give some of my leftover BTC change to my favorite vendors as a "tip." Especially when they do me a kindness.
I needed to start this policy since I'm running out of things to buy from warweed's collection that interest me. ;) That's where my leftover BTC would often go.

By the way souledout, does your username have any connection to the Conor Oberst song? If so, I fucking love that song :)

It really sucks that this thread was the first thing I saw because I was just about to start begging hahaha. I'm seriously .01 BTC away from placing my order and I wanted to ask if someone could help me out. I guess I'm still asking anyway so if you'd like to help me out send me a message.

I'd say go for it most don't seem to mind
