Title: Warweed's ATM scam
Post by: moonbear on February 12, 2012, 05:13 pm
I wanted to know if anyone's had any success with warweeds ATM scam. Could you give a general outline of how it works and if you were successful?
Supposedly the atm will give out $20's thinking they are 5's. I may try this, it just has me wondering "Why isn't everybody doing this?"

I guess because information is the easiest thing to get ripped off on. He could easily send you a book that tells you how to scam ATMs that are now protected against this already. There's no way for you to claim your money back since it's not entirely his fault if the information is outdated or wrong.

You're determined to ruin your life chances before you hit 20 by any means possible aren't you?  ???

First ill state i dont know what warweeds scam involves but i have seen a program on british tv showing a possible scam which sounds similar.

It basically entailed searching the internet and gaining the master password for a certain brand of 'mobile' atms distributed around the uk, in corner shops, pubs etc. with the password u can change the machine to hand out 20's when you ask for 10's! The program showed someone performing this scam and explained that a number of shops with these atms dont change the default password, thus allowing you to alter the settings.

If warweeds scam is anything like this then YES it will work, but relies on the password he has being correct and more importantly the store owners being dumbasses and not changing it. The program was called The Real Hustle if i remember correctly if anyone else has seen it.

Ill be honest, wen i saw that tv show i went my local, jotted all the details of the machine and searched for a whole 48 hours to try and find the default password to try out. I failed lol, and the thing is if ur succesful the store holding the atm are responsible for all funds it dispenses....so no banks on your back. This is in the uk anyways

I'm pretty that's what the trick is -- finding an ATM with the default password, and then changing how it pays out.  The problem is that most of the machines have cameras around them, filming you as you reprogram it.  Even then, you wouldn't want to leave it in that mode, and you wouldn't want to be too greedy with it.  Probably a two or three man job.

The scam has been done, though.  I would be surprised if you could find a machine that still has the default password.

I have scammed ATM machines in the past, particular in the early days of ATMS (giving away my age), using various methods and they are only shortlived, if there has been a TV show in all likelihood this scam would no longer exist, machines probably no longer have default password (but people are dumb enough to use easily guessed ones).   I believe that to do this type of thing on most ATM machines, you are required to open with a key first, so it would be extremely limited.

from what i've heard this only works on a very few select machines, so odds of finding one are pretty low.

Its gotta be...its the face that springs to mind when I think moonbeam

Just like when I think of pine..my heart skips a beat ;)

anyway srs...I was talking to one of my girlfriends about this scam, she has loaded a few atm's in her time, both privately owned and those with the banks and everyone of them had a button/s inside the machine, usually down near the cash cassette that had to be pressed to verify when changes were made to the system.
i dont know about atms elsewhere but in australia it may not work.

edit-also newer atms have separate cassettes for each denomination that only fit into the right spot.. so it is impossible to hand out wrong denominations unless the cassettes have been loaded with the wrong cash.

Dont shoot the messenger

^ I'm sorry but I had to slap my knee at that one. Your heart skips a beat when you look at pine's picture? If she has half a brain that's not even a picture of her anyway. That was so creepy I actually broke into laugher. Not trying to be an asshole but that was just.. wow.

Anyway, my profile picture is a picture of a rapist. He's quite obviously an adult and could not pass as a teenager to anyone with a bit of common sense. The way he's smiling creepily gets me every time I look at it.

I wish when people made threads about my products they sent me a link so i can respond but yes basically it is exactly what voodoomonkey describes and as others pointed out yes it is some what a bit outdated *BUT* it still does work I know this for 100% fact now here is the thing *most* major places like 7-11 or circle k or w.e (insert US or UK major shop here) use companys like "Direct Cash" to manage and fill there atm's you want to find shops that are well established been there since the dawn of time and they pretty much bought and stock there own atm's and there are ALOT out there try the seedyer area's of your town I personally have have about a 1 in 85 ratio now were as for every 85 abm's i come across i get 1 but on average i get about 25-35k from that machine before they figure out whats going on as they just keep stocking them ..

the major distributed atm's that are controlled by corperations yeah you pretty much don't have a hope in hell they use the ATM's RMS software to monitor activity on the atm's and updated the firmware remotely which forces the admin to update pass.. but that still doesn't mean don't check em i check every single one i come across with a number of passwords i list in my guide and you'd be suprised i have hit the odd one that i figured i would never get
