Title: Modification to buyer stats
Post by: Holly on February 11, 2012, 10:17 am
oh, nothing like faking buyer stats FOR FREE <3

+1, i dont even look at stats anymore... We need stats of howmuch $$ people spend on SR...

Took this from warweeds freebie sale.  I for one think listings under 20 usd shouldn't even be attributed to buyer stats.  No offense to warweed, but this hurts the community as a whole when its this easy to accumulate buyer stats.

Why are people even buying his shit, it's free all over the net anyway.

I saw someone selling PGP portable on here with a bunch of reviews as well. Come on people, a quick google search would show you it's free open source software.

But I'm in agreement, you cannot take into account cheap digital goods when it comes to buyers statistics because it's too easy to bump your stats tricking sellers into escrow.

I have to think it would be pretty trivial to display either an average transaction price or a total spent on SR...which are equivalent given you know the number of transactions, but I think buyers would rather see their own personal average, not a big total of how much money they've blown on drugs...where the vendor would probably rather just see total money spent when evaluating customers.

I can't think of any good reasons to NOT include this information.

My thoughts exactly kakapo, people have been pumping there stats more and more through the use of warweed, this is undeniable.  I haven't had a single purchase from him, the fact he had a freebie 'sale' sickens the fuck outta me.  He should just post those download links publically.

The thing that bothers me about the digital goods is that it would be awful easy to hide a bot in the downloaded software to track all of your future movement on the net.  To include everything that you do on your computer.  The systems that they are selling on the memory sticks are extremely risky.  Especially if a seller uses it to setup his store.  It would be a disaster for him and his buyers.  What if LE setup a store and started selling the security systems on the memory sticks?  Just think of the damage they could cause.

Few things to add here

1) 79% of buyers of my goods are first time buyers
2) Your right i have seen abnormal purchases that have looked like buyers pumping feedback this is always reviewed closly and if there is concern i forward to the appropriate people
3) People impulse buy ;) thats why i make sales and have done a few thousand in sales
4) to be blatantly honest i gave away free items both because I'm nice AND I did not directly link them because i wanted to figure out some other stats
5) I have only ever have 1 reported "trojan" in the hundreds of items I list and that trojan wasn't even a trojan it's a keygen hit IE a false positve from the major Producer of keygens CORE which md5's matched and there was no apparent phoneing home and that was in the I-Doser listing

And your right hiding a bot would not be entirely hard but it would be quickly detected and then reported on sr and it would end just as quick as it started
