This thread is solely for the purpose of keeping current users aware of changes to our Preferred Vendors Program. We will update this list on a fairly regular basis (every 4-6 weeks) with the exception of, if a vendor appears to be having an issue servicing their clients we may post a special update as soon as we are aware but barring anything like that this thread will be the place to validate if a vendor is a participating one.

Currently the Preferred Vendor Program consists of the following vendors:

The majority of vendors listed are in the top %10 and have consistently demonstrated attention to quality and service and we encourage our customers, and others to use them for any needs you may have. Some vendors are no longer in the top %10 however they also maintain a very high rating and thus will remain a part of the Preferred Vendors Program. If you have questions about the validity of this please feel free to contact either them or us at SecuritySolution:

Hi respect,

We (SecuritySolution) vend a VMWare VM that comes pre-setup for use with SR, part of it is a keychain pre-populated with they GPG keys of the top vendors that are participating in the program. They are considered some of the best and most trustworthy/reliable vendors on SR. This is simply a thread to keep the list up to date so users of our VM can check to ensure a vendor is still considered part of the program or not (i.e. a vendor goes 'rogue' we would remove them as soon as we find out, and update this thread). It also serves to provide our customer base a mechanism for adding new vendors that become part of the program.

Thanks,
SecuritySolution

Ok, so who is this "We", who's all allegedly using this supposedly secure VM and WHY should anyone be delegating their trust to you "we" people?

Hi respect,

We refers to SecuritySolution, which is collaboration of two people at the current time. There are current users of the VM, this thread is simply for the purpose of keeping the list of vendors involved up to date and visible to that user base. It's not for any other purpose. Who you choose to put your trust in and for what purposes is up to you, this isn't here to convince you one way or ther other just to simply keep people informed.

Thanks,
SecuritySolution

So Basicly to be "prefered" they need to spend money with you? So cash for comments?

Seems very legit to me :o

@hoffa,

No this is not the case, the preferred vendor status within this product is driven by ranking on SR and their willingness to participate. There has not been, and will not be any exchange of money to obtain this status.

@moon unit
Not sure why, they are some of the most reputable vendors on SR with the highest quality and consistency products. Perhaps when you've been around long enough to see vendors come and go or turn scammer you will see the value in having a list of this nature.

Thanks for the clarification. Not doubting the standing of some of these members as I am a regular of some. So by what you have said, you imply that you have tried their products? There are at least 20 others that are not on this list? What do theses preferred vendors need to agree to, in order to "participate"?

Yes in many cases we have tried product(s) from most vendors listed. There are a few (1 or 2) that we have not but those vendors have a long standing reputation for quality and service.

Are you asking if there are 20 others that are not on the list? There are some vendors that did not want their keys redistributed and thus did not participate, so yes three are some reputable vendors that are not part of this.

In order to participate we generally review vendors in the top %10 by the SR ranking system. Secondly they agree, or otherwise consent to the redistribution of their public keys in the keyring that we pre-populate in the VM we vend. In return if they feel there are buyers that may need technical assistance or help with things like GPG or getting things setup for conducting business on SR they may occasionally refer business to us. So it's essentially a reciprocating referral type program, we promote those vendors (based on their ranking and standing in the community) and they refer customers to us. Provided they keep their rating (not necessarily ranking but still have a high rating) within the community they will stay on the list. In the event a vendor has significant problems or decides to turn scammer they would be removed and we would update this list. Our aim is to minimize the impact that those vendors would have on the community and steer buyers towards known reputable vendors.

Thanks,
SecuritySolution
