Bookmark me - I will be helpful in the future :)
Because tor browser bundle and such does not allow javascript i had to resort to old skool meta refresh which refreshes the page every 130 seconds my bot in the background checks to see if SR is up or down every 120 seconds and the edits the index.htm :) tis rather simple but rather then people always asking figure i would write this and settle it the fact that it auto refreshes just means leave the tab open or what have you and you will see UP or DOWN in the title :)

I was just about to write "hey it doesn't work, it says its UP, but its actually DOWN" , but just after second SR loaded :)

Lol if it says up and you can't load it that means your node is dead ;) i won't explain entirely how my system works but my system always maintains a steady tor connections and it was tested and actually used during the SR outage :) and i was back on SR within seconds :) I'm going to mod the bot up a bit to increase some of the wait times when it say silkroad is up and decrease it a bit for when it says silkroad is down no need to hammer SR if it's up :P

whereas I was just doing wget through tor's socks proxy.... but to my credit I was doing it all from my iphone.

That just tells you if the server is up ;) mine will actually tell you if silkroad is up and your able to login for instance if it goes down and the maintenance flag is active :) mine also auto refreshes to give you status reports :)
and just changed the title of the tab up or down for ease :)

no worries figured some one might use it i was getting sick of reading is SR down in the chat channel lol
and here sad thing is by the time i was done writing it within 2 min it was back up lol but it still worked :D

On a related note, there might be a big demand for software that vendors can use to list tons of items, like an eBay Turbo Lister or Power Lister. (Although I suppose it could also be abused and used by scammers).

already being worked on i have it setup for me but working on ways to scale it to other vendors

So if your program says it is up, but the page isn't loading... Does that mean you need to use a new identity?

yes another alternative is bridged relays
the issue is alot of exit nodes are blocking sr and in light of forbes and gawker it would not surprise me if sr got a shit ton of traffic and both your isp was blocking your node and if your node was block access to sr
