Title: Help a noob out with security
Post by: Kopitewarrior on September 05, 2012, 10:54 am
Hi guys

I've been on the road for a while but after reading the "I've been using tor with no encryption" topic I've become concerned about my security. Unfortunately I'm a complete noob when it comes to technical computer stuff (using PGP keys was a struggle) so I'm not really sure how to begin.

Basically, how can I increase my security? Some people have said tor does sometimes leave behind retreivable cookies, so can I delete these? Also, I can see vlad1m1r recommending to encrypt the partition of my hard drive that tor is on, but I don't have partitions, just the single hard drive. Any recommendations would be great.

Second, currently I'm getting bitcoin through a bank transfer to mtgox and then buying from there. Is this safe? Can the money be traced back to me? There's no other real ways of getting bitcoin in the UK.

Thanks
