Title: Purchasing BitCoins - How & Where?
Post by: hr98 on August 11, 2012, 03:53 pm
Afternoon all,

Recently new to the site + forum and can't wait to get started ;)

I just need a little help/guidance on how to get BitCoins....I have had a look on some websites to try and get them but ended up being so confused and didn't bother in case i did something wrong. (n00b). I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction on where to get them? (Best place + Trustworthy).

I am a UK Buyer so the currency will have to be GBP (£).

Thank you in advance for any replies. Regards

vlad1m1r is in the UK, and seems straightforward. He´s been around for a while with only positive feedback.

Personally I use https://bitcoinnordic.com/ , they're not based in the UK, but they accept simple bank transfer.

You fill out a form on their website stating for how much money you want to purchase bitcoins, your email and your wallet adress. Then they'll transfer the bitcoins as soon as they see the money in their account (you put part of your wallet adress along with the transfer so they can see it's for you)

Their fee is MtGox +9%, which I think is less than vlad1m1r for small orders.

edit:

To be 100% anonymous, then mailing cash to vlad1m1r and having him insert the bitcoin directly into your SR account is the way to go. Bitcoin Nordic can't do that, they transfer to your wallet, plus obviously they could potentially trace you from the banktransfer (I don't care personally, but up to you). (you can mail cash to Bitcoin Nordic as well, I use banktransfer because it's instant + I can do it anonymously where I live)

Thank you for your reply.

I see that seller only does a minimum. I will keep him saved in case i need to use him in the future.

Also, that website is much easier to understand. I will keep looking for UK sites - please if anyone else has any other Bitcoin sites please share.

Regards.

I'm not sure what other websites would offer you that BitCoin Nordic doesn't tbh. They're very cheap, and don't have a minimum.

But well, they're not anonymous. If you do a banktransfer, I guess it could be traced to you in theory, if you mail them their cash, they'll divulge your bitcoin wallet adress if they're served with a court order to do so (we have to assume that they don't take any steps to hide which bitcoin wallets they send BTC too. They're not designed with Silk Road in mind).

IMHO that's all rather theoretical though. First the police in Denmark would have to have a court order to force Bitcoin Nordic to divulge their books, then they'd have to figure out who owns a Bitcoin wallet address.

If I were super concerned with anonymity I'd use vlad1m1r. But I'm not. :)

Anyways. I don't have any horse in this race. I can just tell you Bitcoin Nordic works. is  convenient and cheap.

edit:

"Right to invoke lack of conformity (Danish: Reklamationsret)
Under Danish law you have a 24 month right to invoke a lack of conformity in your received product. I.e. if the received article no longer functions or looks as advertised, you can return it to BitcoinNordic and it will be repaired or replaced."

LOL, there's 24 months warranty on your bitcoins. If they break, they'll repair them for you. That's service ;)
