Title: Deserted Island Question
Post by: spasmolytic on July 20, 2012, 06:53 am
Okay, I may catch grief for this, but here it goes & remember it's just for fun, although it may serve as a gauge of some sort.
If you were stranded on a deserted island alone and could only have one, would you rather have music, sex, or your drug/drugs of choice?
For me, nothing gets me where I want to go like music, thankfully back in reality we get it all, but goddamn I love music like nothing else. My life revolves around music more than anything cept family & friends.

It's a tough choice between music and weed for me, I hate people too much to be bothered by sex compared to those two options. But in the end music will always win for me. The Doors & Grateful Dead man, enough said. ;)

I love music, but I have a talent for playing music I know in my head.

I love sex, but it's not varied enough.

Acid it is! Lots, lots, and lots of acid.

Sex for me, at least I would have someone to keep me company  ;)
I mean, copious amounts of psychedelics are tempting too, but who knows what I would hallucinate during a prolonged period without contact.

I think after a certain point you'd start hallucinating contact, either with another entity or with another part of yourself, splitting off and distinguishing itself the more you converse with yourself.

Don't forget there are always dreams too, and lucid dreams are great for sex. Music too really, and drugs. Woo, loophole.

If you'll allow it, I'd go with books.

Sex.

I can live fine without drugs.

You can listen to the natural sounds for music.

A big nod to the poster who mentioned books.
Thats a big yes from me.  Sure you can get high, have sex, listen to music but reading a fucking good book gets you lost in your own imagination.  Imagine having a couple of decades worth of reading material and then someone comes to rescue you.
You would be the smartest fucker who made it back home to mainland.

I do like music, but my music list is like, as random as you could think.

Definitely the drugs.. because you need something to get you "away" from those times when you're stuck in your head.
Or else you'll go nuts and fry for life... then get ravaged by land sharks and eaten by some naked Albino Indian Cannibal.

reading a fucking good book gets you lost in your own imagination.

Two points.

1. Acid doesn't get you lost in your imagination?

2. I don't personally need anything to get lost there. I go for 5 hour long walks just thinking about my own stories and universes.

Auto-powered imagination for the win every damn time. Every time.

This ^ it's pretty easy to entertain yourself without books drugs etc.

I don't think many deserted islands get great internet service, so your upload and download rates are gonna be shite, maybe a couple mp3's worth every few hours to a day. I don't think women on craigslist really respond to ads from guys on deserted islands. I don't think they have mailboxes either, so you wouldn't be getting anything from SR...

LMFAO

So true mate.  I would seriously miss my internet.  I remember when i used to be on the laptop upstairs playing WoW, then my mother would unknowingly turn off the internet downstairs.  It was like loosing a best friend.

Most things that play music are electric, which raises the question where the fuck are you getting power from on a deserted island? =P I'd rather have music over sex and drugs any day though.

I'm sitting here in my apartment, and it's quiet as fuck. You know why?

Because my music stopped, and since then I've had my most recent favorite dubstep tracks playing in my head and remixing. Haven't even thought "Hey, it's quiet," till now. It's been hours.

I feel so sorry for all of you who can't play music in your heads.

Well sure we can do that. The thing is it takes effort to re-play them and play all the songs in your head. I mean I have thousands of songs on my ipod, and I recognize all of them. However I doubt anyone can replay them all in the exact sequence one by one like a mp3 player.  :P And it always helps to have it at an audible level.

I can play any song I like well enough in my mind, and audibly enough, that I really wouldn't need an mp3 player. I regularly practice what I call semi-thoughts, consciously considering the main part of a thought while feeling the rest. It takes less effort, less complete memory, and for music it gets the point across (I listen to music particularly for how it feels, not sounds, different sounds just happen to produce different feelings).

I suggest everyone practice it. It works particularly well when thinking visually, not as much with words.

Well I envy you man. I just happen to be a normal human, and think I`ll stick to my primitive ways.  :P

On my deserted island I would like a woman made out of coke with a lovely singing voice.
Probably wont happen though - I dont like boats or planes.

You know after a while you'll be sexing a half-snorted coke-woman, and a while later all the coke left will have been lubricated and then "lubricated." That's when you wish you'd picked one or the other.

Sex for me, and not so much sex as someone to talk to. I can live in my own head and imagination very well, too well as a matter of fact, but not having someone to discuss the world with outside of myself would probably drive me crazy in roughly 8 months.
