I know that Intersango won't accept cash deposits over the counter but it's news to me that MtGox don't - from working in a bank I know it's certainly possible for an account holder to limit cash deposits.

In any case doing so is not nearly as anonymous as you might think as the date and time of each deposit is logged. It would be very easy to use security camera footage to tell who had made a deposit if necessary - the solution? Use my Bitcoin for cash in the mail service (please see link below), it's safe and reliable as not even I will know who you are, it's the way things should be!

It will most probably show up. Mt.Gox is known for slower transactions over these kind of payments, as well as bank transfers/wires. You can look up their Facebook page and see some people commenting about the slow transactions/bad feedback. I believe there is some dude who`s on his 11th+ day waiting for his funds to be deposited. I wish they would sort things out or state them properly otherwise instead of buying/setting up new office desks and chairs. :(

im not waiting for anything to show up,if you read my first post you will see that all im after is some clarification from anyone else that uses mt gox as to whether they have had any problems with cash deposits not being credited to there account,,,as mt gox now state on there site that cash is deposited at your own risk and may not be credited to your account
this can only mean one thing and that is they are being pressured maybe into not accepting cash deposits same as intersango have done
if anyone is waiting for mt gox to credit there account it might be worth your while to e-mail them,,,i have done this the 3 times i have used them and within 12 hrs the coins were in

Yes. I read your post and stated 'It will most probably show up' which I posted to reassure you. Not sure if that got across well. As for feedback I`ve got some from them, with really late answers/explanations which should have been given on the first day. Looks like you have no problem then, I actually live right next to them (come at me boys) and told them how shameful their service was. They were left speechless and dumbfounded.

slight mix up,no worries,i actually never had a problem in the first place,i was about to make a cash deposit via barclays to mtgox but when i took a look on there site beforehand i noticed the message about cash deposits so i came on here to see if anybodys cash had been refused by mtgox,im still non the wiser so i might just have to make the deposit and see what happens, previously i have made cash deposits with no issues, this time i want to deposit a larger amount than normal so want to be 100% sure before i go ahead

Thanks DomesticShrooms,

As far as I know my bank at least (which is a High Street one) is not specifically monitoring Bitcoin deposits but there's a difference between saying something has not happened so far and that it could never happen(!)

As I said the date and time of each deposit is logged whether it is electronic funds transfer or a cash deposit over the counter. I know this as I started out as a Cashier -the only real advantage to depositing cash over the counter is that it won't be possible tell you sent money to a Bitcoin exchange by examining your own bank's records.

Of course you can say I'm biased as I sell Bitcoins for cash in the mail but I started this service to supply a demand as in order to use Bitcoins safely you must first obtain them anonymously - cash in the mail is one method to do this as is selling products/services in exchange for Bitcoin.

Thanks LeftHandSpinner,

To clinch the issue, I've taken a look at the MtGox website itself to see exactly what they have to say:

Quote
If you have a bank account in UK, you can send GBP bank deposits IN GBP to our UK bank account, free of charges.  Usually it takes 1-3 business days for us to receive the funds and another business day (excluding any public holidays) before the bank releases the information to us. You will receive an email when funds are credited.

Note: Direct cash deposits should not be made, as they may not be credited.

Of course it's not clear whether this is because Barclays is notoriously unreliable at tacking on reference numbers to cash deposits (don't take my word for it, try it for yourself!) or because they want to know the identity of every person buying Bitcoins but I think it's safe to say that until we hear otherwise you should only deposit as much cash as you can afford to lose!

At the risk of sounding like a plug my own service takes 2-3 business days and is genuinely anonymous, I'd be happy to help you obtain Bitcoins in future if MtGox aren't proving themselves as reliable!

All the best,

V.

Yeah man it's cool, nothing wrong with a bit of harmless plugging. ;) Heard about you before and I'm pretty interested seeing as i'm sick of Mt.gox. I'll do a little research into your service and i'll probably end up using it sometime soon.
