Title: Anyone else hate their job as much as I do?
Post by: jetsnbroccoliohmy on June 19, 2012, 06:09 pm
I am on job 5 after getting my Masters degree back in 2009.  I still have not found a job that I can stand, I just keep jumping around hoping I will find something exciting.  Does anyone have a job they actually enjoy?  Only thing I ever look forward to anymore is Friday night so I can go out and party my ass off.  I wish there was a drug I could take while at work that made the day at least somewhat enjoyable.. any recommendations on something that won't destroy my body and make me an addict lol.

Adderall, I hate work without it. On it, the intolerable are tolerable, the day goes by faster, and my productivity skyrockets. Just don't abuse it like others do, then it becomes useless. I take half of a 30mg each morning and never more, have been for several years and I haven't built up a tolerance, I don't have a dependence, and I never take it on weekends.

Tea sounds nice  8)  I was thinking of adderall honestly was going to try to get it prescribed to me.  I took it in college to study but I never really noticed any effects though.  I every day hit a certain point in my day where I say to myself, fuck it man I am done working and I pretty much day dream until the day is over from there.  Work is not tolerable for me, I even make pretty good money and that still doesn't motivate me to like my job.

Just be satisfied that you have one. I've been looking for work for a little over 2 months now, not long but I've had no luck so far, I have mates that have been looking for over 6...

You have a great point there sollemnis.  I think the best job would to be a SR seller, too bad I have no sources here in the US lol.

I'm going on three. :'(

My old job is being completely renovated so everyone's apparently laid off for now so I definitely can't go back to it.

Its horrible isn't it mate  :-\. I like keeping busy all the time, kinda hard to do without a job. Less money, and I hate benefits, I feel better earning to be honest.

It's really tough on those days where I have nothing to do other than wait for the calls, I can't help but spend the time tripping as much as possible just to waste the time. :-\ To top it off my main refrigerator just busted and I can hardly afford food as is, and apparently my ice machine called it quits this morning too so woohoo! ::) Is it bad that I'm more worried about running out of bud before I do food though? Honestly..so long as I have water, entertainment, and bud then I am pretty happy.

Yes i hate my current job in information technologies, but this is because I'm sick of the bad administration where i work. I am searching for a better job but i don't know if i really want to continue in that sector for a very long time, clients are crazy all the time.. I'm thinking about going to university in a couple of years to learn chemistry and to work in pharmaceutical laboratories, but lack of money is what stopping me right now..

Sorry to hear about you fellas being unemployed.  I guess living in one of the biggest cities in the US helps as there are plentiful jobs.  I am currently looking to switch industries, but that means starting over and entry level pay aka I need to get a new place to live as I won't be able to afford my current living situation.  Having my masters degree helps, but having poor parents and over $1000 a month in student loans blows as well.  I need some MDMA to cheer me up, I wish PF would reup!

As far as being in IT....ilovelsd69, we abuse our poor IT guys.  Whenever our system goes down he gets bashed, and it seems like it goes down a lot.  Completely understand how you feel

It's why i want to work in a lab.. no clients to work with and a much much better pay. This will cost me a lot of money and hard work but i know i will find a way to achieve my goal  ;)

i love my job.  i work at a tattoo shop.  i take the paperwork, mop floors, clean up behind the artists.  i also sell the detox, knives, and tasers for the head shop next door.  sometimes i help out there so the other guy can sit out front and smoke.  we have a common break area, with a fridge, microwave, flat screen tv on the wall, and there is usually an xbox with skyrim in it there.  i'm also a sales rep for a natural pain killer we carry, and i'm working on getting truck stops in the area to carry it through me.  life is good for the moment.

- unfortunately the couldnt give a shit about the next man, less opportunities, more money grabbing, rich getting richer, general laziness and
attitude means MOST jobs are not worth waking up in the morning for, its seems to be quite rare and few examples where someone has a
nice balance between work environment, job satisfaction and salary ..for example.

- its real difficult explaining these sorts of lessons and how the world is, the path to take in life to kids; you want to tell how the world really works
and what they ought to do or the positive side but without lying to them?! (when you know in the back of your mind you can put as much
effort into things someones no doubt going to trash it)
kids are supposed to work it out for themselves, what would you rather have -they are over protected, naive or the other extreme fully aware
of what to expect -is a difficult balance.

peace

I've been in the job search for a while now.  Living in a hell-hole area where ops are few and far between.  Has anyone with long gap in employment fakes employment history and references.  If so, can you help me out with some how-to's?

I usually work some pretty crazy shifts/hours but the bonus is that I usually get the same amount of time off as I work. Sounds good, but I find I learn a job and then get bored. At that stage now. Am looking for that dream job that I will love, but been looking for a while now.

Hey me too Lim :)

SR is a pretty decent job with tons of great people and a fair share of not so nice ones as well, but hey that's how its going to be with any customer service oriented business.

Much Love :) :)

Yeah SR is just 1 part of my "Job", I do a few other things as well but everything from home. I couldn't deal with working in an office or working for anyone full stop. Would piss me off too much.

...some unexpected ideas/posts, thats quite true, what your "official" job is from 9-5 and the other sources of income as those playing
quite an active role in SR paints a very different picture of who you are today versus the old fashioned concept you study x and get that job
related to what you studied, and retire 40yrs later (whatever).

My advice? Stop now. Do something you wanna do. Honestly idk why you put all that time into education if you hate the end result. GRANTED  masters education is great enrichment for a human being's intelligence in general, but as far as its compatibility with your life, doesn't look like it's done more than put you in a job that pisses you off and generally makes you feel like shit. I was exactly the same way in school, and am really tryin to get over it to properly educate myself, but some things just aren't for some people. Perhaps the professional life just isn't for you.

There's so few defining moments in life, and a man's perception of his own worth is staked upon them (I give a fuck if you're a girl, man is a general term). The best thing you can do for yourself is to have some damn conviction about whatever it is you decide to do and do it.

Much love.
