Title: Metro Bank transfers will be delayed until Monday due to technical error.
Post by: homersimpson on June 16, 2012, 08:23 am
First and last time I use these.. They did say they would be down for a FEW hours early hours on the 16th but no warning of this prior my purchase. Pretty bad way to do business if you ask me.

Yes, last time it happened they said it was down to the sheer volume of transfers. Ironically the more people that lose faith in their service and stop using it, the more reliable it will be on that basis.

I work in a bank and I see brokers make thousands of minute transactions every day so I really don't understand where they're coming from on this. I have messaged all my customers to inform them of the slight delay - if problems continue by Monday I will process all orders from my personal store of BTC, normal service will resume! :-)

They did have a message up on the transfer page from at least Thursday or maybe before (that was the first time I noticed it).

Intersango are starting to piss me off, it's like you said Vald1m1r, they should be able to cope with the comparatively few amount of orders going through their hands, but no... Problem after problem with them. Is it just a three man band? That Donald seems to reply to all the tickets.

And, twice now I've deposited money to Metro only for it to be held in limbo saying 'pending review'! I asked about this and they said 'The system sometime throws out a transaction for manual confirmation, and only one person can manually confirm it and let it go through'. That sounds a bit  dodgy to me, what do you think?

What are the other options? It takes days to get money to MtGox from the UK. Anyone got any better ideas?
Intersango are really good when it runs smooth, but when it fucks up your talking days of waiting and nothing you can do about it!

Peace all, Zen.

Hi Zen,

At the risk of sounding like a plug, a good alternative is to use my service buying BTC with cash in the mail. Not only is this far safer but I have a stockpile of Bitcoins set aside for situations like these so you still get your coins on time - just a suggestion!

I have been looking for exactly this service, but it has to be with someone I feel I could trust. From seeing you around on the forum, I think you could be one of these people. But I'd need to know more, the ins and out, specific details ect. I was looking into Googleyed, but if you PM me with some extensive details on how this would work and how I'm not going to get ripped off (no offense, you come across an intelligent, down to earth guy, I just need to protect myself, I'm sure you'd do the same! So nothing personal). But yes, I'd be VERY interested, so please get in contact.

Hi Zen,

That's easily done, this is my thread I created here on the SR forums explaining how my service works in detail and where some kind previous clients have left comments : http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=22148.0

Please send me a message if you'd like to go ahead and/or have any further questions.

I will not let you down.

The issue with Intersango is the type of Metro account they have, I personally use Metro bank for various reasons and never have issues when Intersango are claiming they are.

They should stop using a personal account and get a business account.

The two run on different systems which I'm sure Vlad1m1r could explain better, and when the personal system is constantly down for 'upgrades' nothing on Intersango runs, yet I can still log into my business banking just fine. It's well known that Metro take their personal accounts offline nearly every weekend, I'm not sure what they're up to but hey ho.

Hi OZ,

I've heard it said Intersango is a bedroom operation so what you're saying makes a lot of sense! This is disappointing as it's actually much easier to open a business account than a personal one!

What I find faintly implausible as I said is this explanation that Intersango's servers couldn't deal with all the transactions to the account during the day - for starters these are batch processed and also the server doesn't distinguish between different accounts. As I understand it, it handles millions of transactions every second!

Still nil desperandum, I'm sure it's just a temporary glitch and normal activity will resume soon.
