I'm just curious there seem to be a lot of bright people here. I wanted to start this thread to get an idea of the various levels of Education of our members from around the world.
-
Working on a second undergraduate degree. First university degree was in music composition, decided that I wanted to get a second degree in computer science/engineering.
-
Got a bachelors in organic chemistry but am currently doing a masters in fine art
-
So far you guys are proving my point. :)
-
officially - 2 year diploma from a private music school
unofficially - I have been an "unenrolled student" at various colleges and universities in my area for several years, focusing primarily on chemistry, botany, literature, quantum-physics, electronics/computers and various fine arts.
When I say "unenrolled student" I mean that I just started crashing various classes and lectures that peaked my interest because I was unable to officially enroll due to various circumstances, and I believe that the knowledge I gained was a lot more important than a fancy piece of paper with my name on it.
-
On a semi-related note, in college I decided to take the MENSA exam to see if my IQ was high enough to be offered admittance. Took 3 hits of acid and went and took the test. A few weeks later I got an acceptance letter :p
-
Yea. I've taken IQ tests on shrooms and had amazing in scores. xanax.....not so much.
But I'm happy with my sober average which seem to fluctuate between 130-140 (depending on who's test it is)

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science.
Masters Degree in IT and Information Security.
Currently studying for PHD.

DrGonzo is right. I manage a small company and many of my hardest workers and most likeable employees do not have advanced (or any) degrees.
That being said:
BA in Biology with Chem minor (what passed for pre-med at my school)
MBA

It's nice to know we've some Brainy Brits on side! I hold a Masters in Linguistics and a BA in Modern Languages (French & German) - I do admire your tenacity for taking on a pHD, I wouldn't have the strength!

As of right now, i have an Associates in Computer science, and im working on switching fields to graphic design.
As for work, i do alot of MMO related video game sales, Accounts, gold, Powerleveling, etc etc.
Its pretty funny...that at least how i see it...a good majority of the money i make from games, i spend on SR...So its kinda like...Im paid in drugs to play video games...

I think a BA in modern languages would blow my brain, and two languages, no way!
I thought I wasn't going to enjoy doing the PHD as much as I am actually, the volume of writing sucks a bit (effectively two books) but it's a subject I can choose and new ground which is great.

University masters, UCL.Can't say what for unfortunately for safety.
I wonder why my lectures would think if they know the amount of acid and pills I did at my time there...I should have been studying chemistry ;D

Do we have any Doctors here?

Do we have any Doctors here?
I'm a Don, does that count? ;D
(Joke fyi)

Do we have any Doctors here?
I just finished my first year of medical school.
But other than that, my highest degree so far is a B.S. in Neuroscience (neurobiology specifically).

Hopefully neurosurgery or neurology. I've still got some time to think about it though.

If you go for neurology, I would strongly recommend trying to get involved in MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies). They are making some remarkable strides in the legitimization and legalization of psychedelic drugs for medical purposes. And I believe that they are the only Organization to get approval from the DEA for this kind of research in years. Some of their famous stuff so far includes using Ibogaine for opiate addiction and MDMA for PTSD.

working on masters

Ive got a P.H.D (pretty hard dick) lmfao sorry couldnt help myself!

It's really nice to hear from a fellow mensa member. I was actually a member for about 3 years in two countries that i move to back and forth throughout the year until i got sick of paying the Annual fees, Which sucks (specially when you pay it twice with no student's discount ;-)).
-

Well you have to wait a couple of years for me. :-)
-
Almost done with my A.A.S in IT
-
What's the point of mensa?
Do you guys just hang out and get high? Is that why it costs so much to take a test?
As to the op, in this sketchy but very interesting thread, I made a series of irresponsible decisions as a younger man which resulted in shitty credit, and what is now about 5 grand in defaulted student loans, which is preventing me from having a second chance in college.
My hourly wage is still <10 dollars /hr.
I'm trying to work my way out of it. But finding this website is not helping, lol. I sadly have very little self control.
I will say this, when I go back to school I will not fuck it up again.

A semester of community college and a bunch of knowledge I've gained autodidactically. :)

The point of mensa is really networking; meeting up with people who are in the same or similar fields as you, things like that. I, too, got sick of paying the membership fees after graduation, so I am technically not a dues-paying member anymore. After I get my second degree, I may consider returning to mensa and using it for some networking.

college educated, unknown level of pretentious consciousness
-
Two undergraduate degrees and considering going post graduate soon.

To any LE reading this...
Kinda blows your shit outta the water don't it? And we're all HIGH AS FUCK..

I second this. Probably have more formal education than the LE observing SR ;D

I do think people should be slightly careful giving out this information though.
Profiling is occuring, we have to assume (it would be unwise not to).
And let's say you've been posting here a while, if you're not careful you have probably revealed..
i) your age
ii) your location (and there are levels of specificity)
iii) facts about your life (what you do, the sort of venues you frequent, your hobbies)
iv) your level of education including any degrees/qualifications
v) your history of arrest/criminality
That's some decent information for LE to start with right there. I don't think you could get exact identities from that but it certainly narrows things down a lot.
Any vendors who post a lot should be very very careful.
-
My highest completed qualification is high school, but I'm currently at uni

Well said, I think it's very important to omit certain things and I certainly don't expect anyone to be 100% honest all the time, I Understand anonymity is important and people here may need to say and do certain things to maintain that anonymity.

Currently working on my undergraduate degree; Pharmacology :)

Trust me, I'm a huge fan of MAPS. I've been fortunate enough to meet and chat with Rick Doblin several times during various conferences with Students for Sensible Drug Policy during my undergrad.

Damn. If only i could have crashed a lecture like that.
The only cool things I get to see with special speakers, are at my old music school. (Victor wooten being the best of all)

I have a bachelor of science, and that's all I can say on the subject for safety.
-
was a chemistry major for a while, now I'm working on a double major with economics and finance 8)
I enjoy this thread because I always assumed this community on average was fairly educated/intelligent ha
-
Uni, but I'm scared of revealing anything else. It's interesting to see everyone is so well educated though.
