Title: The Queen's Jubilee (for Brits)
Post by: Limetless on June 02, 2012, 06:20 am
So what are people doing for it? Are people doing anything at all? Are people bothered? What do you think in general?

Personally I'm quite looking forward to it but then I like the eccentricity of it all.

Haha nah this is a bit bigger than 4th of July, the only other monarch in Britain's history to have a Diamond Jubilee was Queen Victoria over 100 years ago. :)

Yeah we are having street parties and fireworks and things like that, I'm going to one. Looking forward to it.

Fuck the jubilee!

Jubilee = no post and no bank/bitcoin transfers  >:(

Although, I will be getting hammered during the jubilee so at least it has one good point  8)

Well its an excuse for a party and seeing that in about 6 hours IRL pressures will be alot less than they are now im looking forward to it as far as that is concerned.

However as a general principle im not a fan of the monarchy. They don't have any real power (in theory they do but it could never be enforced as they would just be abolished) so i don't object to them their, its more the cost to the state i object to.

But yea big excuse for a piss up, suits me =)

I hope so. It'll be weird when she dies, she's like the one thing that represents consistency in Britain. Everything changes but she's always there to oversee it all. Quite reassuring in a lot of ways.

Yes indeed, she's been a fixed point in a changing age. I've always had a soft spot for Madge as I call her, as I've yet to see a convincing example of a Republicanism automatically making anything better - it simply didn't do China, North Korea and Cuba much good. Any Americans reading this, I agree your War of Independence is the exception that proves the rule - no taxation without representation!

Tbh the best thing about the jubilee is the street parties/utter go mental mentality people seem to adopt.

Plus it's one of those occasions, like when England win at football, where people aren't cunts to each other, and there's good will all round. That's the best part of it for me.

Personally I'm gonna be banging out lines of m1 and then dropping a 0.2 sample of drNyx's mdma, before macking on some chicks and making a fool of myself. So business as usual really  ;D

We are lucky enough to live near the flight path from windsor.
Last week was the Jubilee parade at windsor castle, so we got a free showing of all the fighter jets and shit flying back home in formation.
First we saw a big fuck off 60 of all jets flying over, then a big H+R, then the apaches came.
Seriously it went on for like 30 mins.
After that i broke out microsoft flight sim lol.
It was good shit to watch.

To be honest I'm not really bothered about it all.

The only thing that pisses me off is that fact that we got no post for a few days :( and no post = no happy meds and other healthy chemical substances for the soul.

Just caught the news report about the queens jubilee. Looks like a good time was had by all. Some big names performing too. Annie lenox sounded like shit from the little bit that i heard her sing, but Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder sounded good. Not a big Elton John fan, but thats still a pretty damn impressive playlist.

So that diamond is the real deal, huh? Anyone know whats its value is? Tell the queen ill give her 150BTC for it, lol.

+ Oh yea ill teach her PGP encryption for free too.

I'd just like to ask how did Prince Phillip get a "bladder infection" from standing in the cold yesterday meaning he missed today's concert?

Either

A) It's bull and he just can't be bothered to go, Pop / R&B isn't his thing.

B) He's been philandering...wahey! Naughty boy. Although he does have a reputation...

I have a question, When this Queen dies or steps down. Does that mean Prince William takes over? or how does it work since Diana was killed?

Prince Charles.

That's right. We will literally be the most embarassing country in the world to belong to.

William I don't mind, he's got good choice in women, and is a pretty slick guy. Charles on the other hand, in the words of Christopher Hitchens, is a "bat eared, chinless, muslim fancying, bad taste in women, slobbering dauphin."

I dont give a fuck who is next in line to the throne.
A) they have no control in government
B) they take so little tax from the average working man to care about
c) who the fuck cares as long as we can keep saying Kate on our screens !!! 8)

Yeah I don't want that fucking Camilla or her poisonous fanny anywhere near the throne. She's a bloody disgrace.

Oh and I quite like Christopher Hitchens, his books are quite interesting.

@ ppas

The Royals mate.  They have always had money.  What do you expect they are all ex-pats from germany, they would naturally bring tons of art and culture worth millions!.

You can tell how special their genes are. Look at Harry and Wills - access to the most exclusive schooling and higher education available to mankind and they've got an E in Art and 3 GCSEs between them. Just another thick posh family with acutely compromised DNA due to generations of inbreeding.

I couldnt agree more Ahoyhoy.  Thats why i mentioned zee german heritage thing.  I wonder how many other nationalities crept in over the generations of loyalty.

Personally though i cant knock the royals, they have done a lot more than people "americans" actually realize.

And i hate the fact that this forum forces me to mispell realize in an american way.

lol just kidding.
