Dear all,
After contending with would be cop killers, I thought I'd move on to more neutral territory and share the book with you which introduced me to the wonderful world of encryption:
In the words of the almighty Amazon:
The Code Book is a history of man's urge to uncover the secrets of codes, from Egyptian puzzles to modern day computer encryption. The betrayal of Mary Queen of Scots and the cracking of the enigma code that helped the Allies in World War II are major episodes in a continuing history of cryptography. In addition to stories of intrigue and warfare, Simon Singh also investigates other codes, the unravelling of genes and the rediscovery of ancient languages and most tantalisingly, the Beale ciphers, an unbroken code that could hold the key to a $20 million treasure.
Aside from being an interesting read, the final chapters deal with the basics of Public Key Cryptography, the formation of the RSA Algorithim and PGP, which is a fun way for people new to these concepts to understand the basics.

Yep, its a good read and written in such a way that anyone can understand the concepts and terminology used. If anyone has an interest in not only how all this stuff works, but also the history behind it all, then grab this book :)

Fantastic; I have this book already in PDF, but it's not so easy to read on my iphone. Epub is the best format for me.
