Get-bitcoin at https://get-bitcoin.com/home/faq has not been around long and my WOT (Ring of Trust) Firefox add-on shows that the site has not been rated for trustworthiness.
How do you evaluate the site in terms of.....
-Trustworthiness
-Privacy
-Cost
-Convenience
Also, can I transfer funds online without paying extra transaction fees, meaning no bank wire transfers? If so, how?
Thanks for any help.

I think there are a few threads around about this service. But, I've used them 3 times. First 2 times were flawless, made a cash deposit and had the coins within a few hours. Currently though my third order is past the 24hr window they guarantee and I'm not getting a response from their email/support. However, I have patience and I believe it'll work out.
Anybody know of other services that offer cash deposit these days? I'm not a fan of Mtgox, Dwolla, etc. all requiring large amounts of personal information.
-
I ordered from them at the beginning of december with western union. Took them 5 days to pick up my money and another day to give the deposit. Because of all the time with money in lingo btc was much more when they filled. Just my 2 cents
-
I've used the cash deposit at both chase and BoA and have always gotten my BTC within 24 hours....usually about 18. You have to make sure you email them a copy of the deposit and follow their simple instructions.
-
I just used GetBitcoin within the last few days, it's legit. Placed an order on their site on Wed selecting cash deposit (Chase bank), deposited cash at a nearby Chase on Thurs (no ID required, all you need to specify on the deposit slip is the name and account GetBitcoin emails you) and emailed my receipt, and got my BTC in an eWallet today. Pretty damn quick and easy.
That being said, the BTC I received was a little lower than I was expecting. I got a high price for the USB-to-BTC conversion, 7.03 USD to 1 BTC, even though I specified $7 max price on the order form. Not only that, the highest prices on Mt Gox within the past week were $6.5-$6.6 so I'm not sure why the price was so high. Not really that big of a deal, but it was as if they charged a "fee" that wasn't explained on their site. I sent an email to their support but have not received a response yet. Will provide updates.
EDIT:
Just received a response, looks like they charged a 5% transaction fee and they actually traded for$ 6.68 USD-to-BTC, which is reasonable. Honestly, it's a lot better than the 10%+ fees you see with all the MP-to-BTC vendors on SR, particularly since I received the BTC so quickly. However, I really wish they would indicate this transaction fee on their site since it is not implied anywhere.
EDIT 2:
Actually, the 5% transaction fee is explained in their site's FAQ, so I am a stupid idiot.
-
I found this under the FAQ.
Q). How much is the fee?
A). GetBitcoin charges a 5% fee for purchasing Bitcoins, and a 3% fee for selling Bitcoins. That's it - there are no other fees or charges of any kind.

Yeah, I just noticed it in the FAQ a few minutes ago, lol, so I feel like an idiot. Either way, Getbitcoin is fine by me and will definitely use it again in the future.
-
i've used them 7 times. always with a cash deposit. the longest it's taken is just under 24 hours. the fee structure seems quite far. the problem i have with mt gox and the others is there are fees for most of the forms of payment they accept, moneypak or prepaid debit card fees+BC transaction fee+the hassle of getting these things in the first place.
so far get-bitcoin seems to be the ones doing it right, or at least they are the least bad option. i wish it were faster, but i usually have my BC within 12 hours.
it seems to work faster if you leave your maximum price blank.when i've stated a max price those transactions tend to take several hours longer.
and since the price of what we're buying is tied to the exchange rate as long as you're planning on spending it right away it really doesn't matter what the exchange rate is. that $60 bag of weed is going to be $60 whether the BC rate is 1-$7 or 1-$3. i learned the hard way not to keep too much just sitting in my account.
-

Now that is integrity.

Couldn't agree more.
I'm taking the plunge with this place later today. Wish me luck!
-
I tried using them then the guy asked for a picture of my photo ID so I never followed through. Not saying he is honest or dishonest just never went past that. I felt it wasn't his business and did not continue.
-
Account closed, at least the Chase one is. I also noticed the account number changed....it was 12 digits, now it's 9.
Edit: My bad, I was using the wrong account number for the wrong bank. Doh!
-
i used them once, and was a little disappointed. I did a cash deposit and sent a photo of the receipt to their email address asap. The price of btc was around 4$. I email them and they wrote back quickly saying they had received my payment, but never confirmed it until a day later, then it took another day to transfer the bitcoins, so it was around 3 days total. Also they guarantee 24 hours or no rate, but he still charged me the 5% , and also the btc had gone up to 5$ so i lost out on that too. He sent them, but it took forever with poor communication

All major bitcoin exchangers are required by federal law to record identification information about all of their customers. This is due to the fact that BitCoins was declared a currency by the Federal government. Hence, the government has the power to regulate all BitCoin exchangers as currency traders. Sooner or later Get-BitCoin.com will be targeted. Additionally, all BitCoin-Exchangers on the OTC BitCoin site, Silk Road, and anywhere else are violating federal laws if they do not record all of their customers identification information. Every single person that has advertised commercial services to buy or sell BitCoins are subject to currency traders laws.
So all of the Bitcoin exchangers on Silk Road are committing a federal offense along with Get-BitCoin.com and the OTC BitCoin exchange.
-
I did cash deposit at a chase and it worked brilliantly. I also had a few questions so I traded a few messages with them. They were prompt, professional, and got it done.

Lol at this about a site where H and coke are sold.

I used get-bitcoin last week and for the first time they took longer than 24 hours to process my transaction. They promise 24 hour turnaround or no service charge. They were like 25 hours. They still charged the service charge when it did go through so I emailed them and asked about it. They admitted I was right and refunded the Service Charge. They've always responded to emails and usually had my coins fairly quick. Nice to see them honor their word on this one. Better than moneypak if you ask me.
-
They're great. I've bank deposited in the morning and got coins within a few hours.
-
They're legit... I used them for my first bitcoin purchase. I chose the cash by mail option. I was a little nervous at first sending my cash through the mail but it worked out fine. I got my bitcoins 5 days after I mailed my cash.
-
I've done about a dozen or so transactions with them from early December to as recently as the beginning of this week. All were cash deposits at BA and Chase. Always received BTC under 24 hours with the avg time being 18 hours. Never the "few hours" I see on various forums. Might be the size of my transaction? But I notice that only after midnight did they fill the BTC order. Must be waiting for the BTC market to settle for the day.
I simply email them a copy in JPG format of the deposit receipt. Also, I often enter "0" as mix price which means buy BTc at market.
I know their website doesn't look like much. But they are doing a fair bit of business if their order number is a proper indication.
-
It is always best to leave the "Max Price" box blank because if the bit price is above your Max Price (even by a little) it will greatly delay your order as they will not fill it if bit price is to high.
-
I've used this site twice to buy $250 and $150 of bitcoins. This fees are cheap (5%) and I got my bitcoins within a day of my payments being processed.
-
Do I use my real name? I'm using a tormail email address, but I dunno if I should list my real name or not.
-
2 transactions went well with them. i thought it was their fault it took long to get my coins but it was chase bank taking a while to transfer my $
il be using them for my future buissnass
-
Do I use my real name? I'm using a tormail email address, but I dunno if I should list my real name or not.
I'd say it's optional for purchasing BTC *unless* you're sending the coins directly to SR -- in which case, use a fake name. If you're using their "My Bank Account" payment method, I'd think it wiser to avoid fakes (and avoid sending directly to SR, of course).
For selling via the payment-by-check option you'd want to use an entity name real enough to allow the check to be deposited or cashed.
-
I'll be taking the cash deposit route.
-
Just came here to say that I used get-bitcoins.com and it went great. I emailed them the scanned receipt from chase bank at 4pm, and at 11pm I had my bitcoins. Very simple process. Will do business with them again.
-
Im impressed with there service! Used it twice...
-
So if one were to fund using "My Bank Account" method (using real name) and then do a little tumbling before the coins arrive at Sr, would that really be enough? I was under the impression that it was not, and that the coins would likely still be traceable back... Or am I wrong?
There could be a record linking your identity to the specific BTC you purchased, yes.
Depositing your coins into a pool with those of others for sufficient time -- long enough for your coins to be used to pay out the withdrawals of others over time -- should insure that your specific coins went to a variety of destinations. Likewise, the coins you eventually withdraw from the pool -- those deposited to the pool by others -- would have come from a variety of sources.
You can always verify that the BTC you're about to transfer to SR are not linked to you by examining their history using BlockExplorer [ blockexplorer.com ] or similar. (To do this you'll want to first transfer to a non-SR address -- local or online -- and then check the coins' history before sending to SR.)
-
they lost my envelope >:(
-
so is it safe to give these guys my actual information or do I have to anonymize myself?
-
There is no need to use any personal information.
make a fake name, and use a safe, anon email address.
then make the proper precautions for making your btc anonymous.
it'll be all good.
-
So I'm guessing it's not a good idea to give them my tormail?
If it isn't, then do I just make a fake one that I can access that's not suspicious?
-
tormail is fine.
but i wouldnt give them YOUR tor mail.
just make a new one.
give them a name (john smith)
and make a tormail that works around that (johnsmith22@tormail.net)
-
Overall very happy with this company, coins always arrive within 24 hours, customer service is good, fee's are fair, exchange rate has always been pretty good. What stood out to me the most is that there were no hoops to jump through, no accounts to create, very simple transaction with many convenient AND ANONYMOUS payment methods.
-
I was doing the Dwolla --> Tradehill --> Personal Wallet thing. Painful. Switched to get-bitcoin.com and it's been very reliable. They're a small operation from what I can tell. I always deposit cash at a BofA and they never ask my name, just the account holder which I'm glad they do. They may also ask what state the account is in (Connecticut). But no personal info is required.
But right now, I'm waiting on get-bitcoin to fulfill an order I placed and confirmed 27 hours ago. I checked with them and was told the boss was on a plane an unable to fill orders but is "catching up" now. I really wanted to place an order early today but that's not happening now. First no so great experience with them. Overall, convenient and relatively secure IMO.

Placed my order 48 hours ago via cash deposit at Bank of America and they have been great with communicating but I still don't have my coins. Today, I got "Your order should have been placed yesterday, I'll forward this to my supervisor." Then I followed up a few hours later and was told "I have been unable to reach my supervisor." This is my first experience not using dwolla--->mtgox--->instawallet--->SR and thus far it hasn't been any faster.
-
Ima waiting on a transaction. It was US dollars in cash in a envelope from Europe to USA. Hopefully it'd arrive tomorrow!
-
deposited money and got the coins same day, then I forgot my bitcoin wallet password

I'm pretty sure you can ask them to waive their commission if its over 24 hours. dont quote me on that though.
I wonder if this "catching up" has anything to do with the sale going on this weekend. I've never heard of that happening before.
-
Finally got an email saying my order has been processed and the coins would be deposited soon. It's been over 8 hours - is this normal?
-
I think they must be getting alot of business right now. Only 1 time were they slower than there 24 hour promise. I called them on it and they did refund the service charge. Don't expect them to do it automatically....but they were very open about it when I pointed it out.
Jsun did you get the email saying order # Fulfilled or just confirmed? They have come thru for me EVERYTIME so don't panic.
-
Great service 99% of the time from my experience as well. I've also had them be late with it once, but they refunded the service charge. I will also second that they seem to time their purchasing of bitcoins. My coins were not "purchased" until the absolute peak of the BTC market.
Usually get my order fulfilled around 9pm-1am, with the occasional early afternoon fulfillment. Lines up horribly with my work schedule so if anybody can recommend another service that accepts cash deposits at a bank, I'd appreciate a recommendation.
-
I've made a direct deposit to their Bank of America account almost 24 hours ago(1 hour left). Customer service sucks(they replied quickly before I paid). I'll keep U posted.
-
i get the impression that it's either a one or two man operation. one person i talk to has no idea what the other person is telling me. don't get me wrong, i've had 2 successful cash deposits with them and got my btc within 18hrs both times. on the other hand, i decided to try and send in some prepaid gift cards and here i still sit. i wanted to be sure so i got dcn but because i did it at the 24/7 machine it would only show the final destination's city, state, and zip. Get-bitcoins basically tells me things get lost and they don't know that it got to their specific address. let that be a lesson to you if you decide to go that route, make sure you send it at the p.o. desk with priority, dcn#, and may as well do a return receipt.
-
Ok guys, paid 24 hours ago, still no updates no coins, nothing. They're ignoring me. If U want to get nice customer support, don't use them.
-
Ok I don't know why they are ignoring you but I can say this. They seem to respond to every email I send right away. I have been told this. They have had an increase in orders (hmmm wonder why?) ;-) and UNFORTUNATELY they have had an "INTERNET CONNECTIVITY PROBLEM" ALL ORDERS are delayed right now. They are unable to give me a time estimate till it's fixed.
This really really really SUCKS>>>>> This is going to cost them alot of $$ too if they have to refund everyone's Service Charge. Let's hope they get it fixed soon. Horrible timing with the Sale starting in 15 minutes.
-
I just got the same reply as you Jack. I deposited cash on TUESDAY and now it's Friday? I still don't have any coin! I am very frustrated right now, the whole point was to be faster than Dwolla and now its been twice as long. I have so many things to buy and now I can't. >:(
-
Jsun.....that's horrible. So what is there excuse for that??? The "internet connectivity" thing seems like it just started for them today but I could be mistaken. Let's hope they pull it together or don't decide now is a great time to run off because they are going to be doing alot of work for no Service charge other than the inflated BTC rates you get from them. I miss Exchange Bitcoins.....those guys were the BEST.
-
I don't know, my order wasn't large as I want to test the waters before taking the plunge. But I am not paying fee's on something that is slower than the slowest way possible! I don't mind paying a premium for a fast turn time but I have heard enough excuses, give my coin or my money.
-
I did a cash deposit today and just got an email that my coins are on their way to me, so hopefully they've got their connectivity problems sorted out and everyone gets their coins in time for the sale!!
-
******GREAT NEWS******
It seems that get-bitcoins computer problems have been solved. They just confirmed deposits for me and the BTC is in my wallet and on now on it's way to SR. In fact the second order they filled after only 3 hours or so after making the cash deposit. That's a record for me. NO WAY they have ever been that fast before. Guess they are trying to catch up. Bottom line this service is one of the BEST ways to get BTC in a 24 hour or less turnaround. Glad they came through and now I can enjoy the sale.
-
I did receive my coins this morning and got a little better price than I'd thought I might. I'll give them another shot because of their communication. Happy shopping all!
-
I tried the instant wire option. 24 hours later and I'm still waiting for the email with my instructions. ><
-
Get-bitcoin is great! Had my first transaction with them yesterday. When to get-bitcoin.com fill in the order page, deposit money to specified account at Bank of America, scanned deposit slip, and e-mail to them. Got my BTC 5 hours later!
During the process, I realized I had made a newbie mistake. In the "Your Bitcoin Address," I put in the URL to my Instawallet instead of the actual bitcoin address, which resembled a random string of characters. I e-mailed them about being a n00b and they were cool about it and fixed it for me. All this for 5% fee. Worth it.
-
I need your help, bros and sistas.
As I posted before, I purchased bitcoins from Get-Bitcoins.com. I used bitcoins wallet number, that was provided by silkroad(the number shown below" to deposit bitcoins, send them to this address:"). customer support from Get-Bitcoins.com is asking me :
"Have you downloaded the block chain? You need to download the block
chain before bitcoins will appear in your wallet. If you are sure
that you have, I can forward this on to my supervisor."
What do I need to download? I've downloaded bitcoins software and it's synchronizing to network for about 40 minutes already(downloading blocks of transaction history). What else do I have to do before I get that damn bitcoins? Help me fellas! =))))
-
I've used them twice so far and had a good experience. The first time it took them about 12 - 14 hours from the time I deposited the cash in their bank account to get my coins and the second time about 10 hours. The five percent fee isn't too bad compared to some other places but I wish it was lower, haha. I would definitely recommend them, other than bitcoin-otc this is easily the fastest way to get BTC on short notice.
-

Well. It sounds as if you've discovered a downside to having BTC sent from the vendor to someplace *other than* your own local wallet first. You are now the middle party in a three-way conversation; in between Get-Bitcoins and Silk Road. Needless to say, one of the other parties (GB) needs to be kept ignorant of the identity of the third (SR). Plus, you're unable to tell SR what sending address to look for unless you ask GB for it.
What do I need to download? I've downloaded bitcoins software and it's synchronizing to network for about 40 minutes already(downloading blocks of transaction history). What else do I have to do before I get that damn bitcoins?...
1) Your local BTC client will take about six hours to pull down the full blockchain -- starting from scratch -- based on what I've observed a couple of months ago.
2) Having an up-to-date *local* copy of the blockchain isn't going to help you in this particular instance, but may be useful to you in the future (so let it finish the download).
3) Even with a fully current copy of the blockchain, the BTC you ordered will never show up in your *local* wallet because you had them sent someplace else (SR). It's SR that needs the current blockchain in this instance, which I'm sure they already have.
4) Probably the first thing to do is wait for a reasonable time (24 hours?) to see if the BTC are credited to your SR account.
5) If not, you'll likely want to ask GB for the sending address that they used and pass that information along to SR in a PM explaining what's going on.
6) In the unlikely event that GB inquires, you could tell them that the receiving address was that of an online wallet site that's now helping you track down your coins.
I can't think of anything else to recommend at the moment. Let us know how it goes.

3 DAYS!!! 72 hours waiting!
I've received this email yesterday:
"Thanks for using GetBitcoin! We are currently holding your funds
because the price of Bitcoin is higher than your stated maximum price
of 5.5 USD/BTC. Should we fill your order at the market price?"
It took 48 hours to tell me that they changed their mind and decided to charge more.:
1) We had a deal - $5.5 / 1BTC. They agreed, sent me payment details and after 48 hours I've received that email.
2) Customer service really sucks. It takes HOURS to receive an email from them.
I forgot to mention - I paid and 22-24 hours later I was informed(after dozen pf emails sent to them) that they're experiencing internet connection problems and I'll have my BTC very soon. NOBODY mentioned thay they're not going to send me my BTC(cuz they decided that offered $5.5 isn't enough).
I missed a sale on SR and I've to spend my time on asking them to send me my BTC, IS it fair?
There are can be hundreds of happy clients but I don't happy with them.
I know, there are representatives of get bitcoinds LLC reading this thread, for you guys, I'll post this msg on every scam report website I'll be able to find. That website have higher PR and this article will show up every time when somebody will google your company. If I'm not getting my btc and fair treatment you'll get it.

They waited 48 hours to see if the ask price would go below your specified maximum, as you had instructed them to do. When it didn't, they offered you the option of changing your instructions by accepting the then current market asking price (i.e., changing from a limit order to a market order).
There was no "deal" other than "you get BTC *when and if* the market ask price goes to (or below) US$5.50 / BTC" -- which apparently hasn't happened yet.
-
CrunchyFrog, Thanks. You're right, But, if they could simply email me and explain the same instead of asking to download BTC client and wait till it download all logs(block chain, not sure), that my btc will be send very soon. I'm a newbie who sees - offer your btc exchange rate - deposit money - upload receipt.
P.S. I've received my BTC this morning. 3 days waited. Company is legit, BUT, I wish they have better customer service and more info on their website.
-
I'm trying them out today. I'll let you all know how it turns out as another testament to either their legitimacy, their time-taking, both, or neither.
-
http://bitcoincharts.com/ has market prices for BTC which I used to determine my max price.
-
Your basically on your own with them...they have no customer service and there web page is almost naked of info.
-
I used them for the second time in 3 weeks. I used the cash by mail option which imo is the easiest way to get bitcoins. I know the cash deposit at the bank is quicker but I don't think it's as safe or reliable; I've read a lot of posts complaining about poor communication using this payment option. Anyway, this time I got my coins in 5 days, same as last time I used these guys. I don't see why people complain about them, as long as you know how to use their service it works flawlessly (at least in my experience). I give the cash by mail option my approval...
-
I wanna use cash deposit a bank of america this time because I'm making a large deposit ( under $1000). I was wondering if anyone has ever had to show ID when making a cash deposit for get-bitcoin? If so I just wanna stick with the cash by mail... And do you just fill out a normal deposit slip like you would for your own account?
-
I have now been waiting for 2 weeks for my Bitcoins.
Details:
Approximately $200.00 cash
Posted abroad on holiday.
Emails have been ignored to date.
I still hold out some hope of receiving my B$, since somebody mentioned a five day wait for cash -> BTC, but two weeks is way too long.
Either get-bitcoin have pocketed my envelope, or somebody at the postal office did. In any case, would not deal with again, I will use other means in future that are more anonymous and quicker.

At BoA they keep the slips behind the teller (Ask for an out-of-state deposit slip), while at Chase they are available in the waiting area. They have not asked for my ID (at Chase) the 6 times that I've used them for amounts between $150-$500. Use a deposit slip, just use "GetBitcoin LLC" as the name and use their account number. No signature necessary.
I deposited $375 yesterday at 3:00PM and had my funds in my account when I got to work at 7:00AM this morning. I would highly *highly* recommend this over cash by mail...Even the USPS recommends NOT sending cash by mail because of the likelihood of theft.
Pine, I don't know what is more anonymous than an anonymous cash deposit (What are they going to do, match your location to a branch, face to a bank camera and search a database for your identity? For a couple hundred dollars? ::)), and I don't know what is faster than 12 hours turn around time (Other than a MP2BTC dealer, but they have crazy fees).

Image recognition analysis is improving all the time. You sure you want to bet that CCTV won't know your name in 10 years? In 20 years? Because the CCTV camera footage from today will still be around in some storage somewhere. Hence the tumbling/laundering aspect to bitcoins for me.

Here's some interesting reading for everyone:
http://www.yaledailynews.com/news/2011/nov/01/student-startup-storms-cyberspace/
As for the site. I've never had any real problems with them. My first order with them was a while ago (like October last year) was filled in less than two hours. Last time I used them it took about 3 days. Seems like volume is getting a bit much for them or new laws or something. Not a bad way to go by any means since it allows you to stay somewhat anonymous but the days of getting it right away from them seem to be gone. Still, reliability and waiting 3 days beats getting scammed by some BTC vendor here any day in my opinion. Just be patient with them, I'm sure they'll sort out any problems given the chance.
-
think i mentioned it before but it seems to me that only a couple of people are involved with the site, maybe even 1 person. ive had no problems with bank deposits but sending in prepaid cards has been nothing but headaches, especially since you have to track them down. they won't come to you.
-
not a fan.
-
I've used their service on a few occasions, for smallish (tops in the $200 range) amounts. Always the branch deposit method at BoA, and I'm satisfied with them. Shortest time was a couple hours, longest was approximately 12 hours. I exchanged a few inquiries beforehand, and the replies were quick and pleasant. They're alright by me!
-
Dang, cut the guy some slack. He's fast 99.9% of the time, goes out of his way to help if at all possible, and is the cheapest money exchanger. No moneypaks, you can drop money off at a BofA....
I was a vendor for a good while. I could send him MtGox codes in the Morning, he'd cash em, get me a cashier's check or some money orders and overnight them so I'd have them next day. Or he'd WU me the money. He would put the $$ in my bank account if I asked (needed to pay rent).
He's a good dude, SUPER busy, and trys to help everyone. Try to get that out of any exchanger here. I'm not saying it's foolproof, but if you can do it better, well I guess you should get on it...the other options we have either take longer or are more $$...

He needs a partner in another time zone.

Pine, while I can see where you're coming from, I think another person working with him would probably increase our fees. If you are able to work within his limitations you will get the lowest possible fees. I'd rather wait a minute than pay more. If anyone wants to pay more they can get them changed via SR at a higher fee. I like I said though, I feel ya. Good idea, if it could be implemented without a rates raise.
-
I've used get-bitcoin a series of 6-7 times in the past couple months
Cash deposit @ bank only, but they're always filled within 24 hours.
Just gotta plan ahead is all.
-
Going to buy my first bitcoins tomorrow using get-bitcoins' cash deposit method, wish me luck. I'll post a short review here once it goes through.
-
bought some coins off these guys via cash bank deposit method. Had my coins in my account within 24 hours! highly recommended
-
yeah, their cash deposit rates are so much better than any of the btc exchangers on SR that waiting a few extra hours seems really worth it. from what i understand though, theres been some backlogging on guys like BTCbuddy or SugarMama so maybe thats the way its gonna be from now on and it would be worth checking this site out. i've had 2 successful deposits with them but then sent in some gift cards. now this site is playing games saying they didn't get them even though i have dc#. just be ready for this place to take the money and run on anything except for cash deposits.
-
Just deposited cash a little while ago. Time to give the "check mail" link a workout lol.. will post results here.
-
Just got my bitcoins in a little while ago. Took about 12 hours as suggested, with no problems to report.
-
made a cash deposit today at 9am at BOA. Received an email at 5:30pm that my order was being processed. No bitcoins in my account yet, hopefully they are there by the morning when I wake up. Will update

woke up and the coins were in my account this morning.
Must say after being a bit worried, I am very pleased today. That was my first time trying get-bitcoins.
-
Use them for the first time this week, $100 cash into chase bank, bitcoins by the next morning, works for me
-
How does one make a cash deposit too get-bitcoin?
Do you need a chase bank account to make a cash deposit there?
I'm not experienced with physical banking.
Edit: Never mind... Did the research.
-
Took awhile to get into my account and got 2700 back for 3230 in MP cards. Not terrible, but kinda wish I got more. Oh well though I will be a repeat ..............this is not mine but i saw this from a feed back from the guy iv been using lol thats a bit much isint it :-\
-
Get-Bitcoins.com is good. sometimes a bit late, sometimes quick. bank deposits quick, other money transfers within a week. I give them an A-, but reliable and honest
-
Site doesnt work when I try and go to it.
-
Bleh. The last time I used them, they took three days and refused to give me their service for free. Just outright ignored me wtf? This time I ordered another 100 dollars, let's hope it will arrive soon and they answer my email about the previous late order this time
-
I used their service. It was fast, yet the 5% fee killed me a little. I didn't end up having enough bitcoins to get what I wanted and had to settle for something else. Oh well, lesson learned.
All in all, I do recommend them if you don't mind the fee.
-
I have used them before but their turnaround time is very unreliable. Sometimes it take a few hours and other times it will take days. Very frustrating
-
yeah, they aren't bad but not the most reliable you're right.. i've asked them to change an address to send the coins to as i lost my instawallet address right after a deposit stating i believed my old address to be comprimised, they responded sure, we'll put that in the system for you. 8 hours later they send me a conformation saying we've delivered your bitcoins thanks- checked my acct and low and behold- nothing.
I followed up -respectfully- telling them they messed up bad and i'm out $X because of their clerical error and they should refund some of my money. After a few times of not responding a few days and saying things like yes, we usually suggest that people put in a new application when a change of address is needed (which it said no where on the site- until now as i told them they should put it there) they ended up just refunding me their fee of 5%.
Pissed me off pretty bad, particularly all the waiting and wondering about refunds..but hey, i made the mistake in the first place so i was just as much at fault.
Anyway, they're alright dudes just proceed with a bit of caution..
-
Bit-instant is where it's at. After making the deposit at BoA I got the dollars on mtgox in LESS than an hour! (converted into btc within a minute).
-
My last two transactions were amazing. The last one took a couple of hours but the one before that I had my bitcoins in a matter of minutes. It was so fast that I thought something was wrong.
I've used Get-Bitcoin.com maybe 10 times and the first 8 times it took them about 15 hours for me to get my bitcoins but they've stepped up their game.
-
I have used them about 5 times and each deposit took no more than 24 hours after it had cleared. This past order is now going on almost a week and they say that is takes a few days (even though it never has taken that long in the past). Just want people to be aware that they're unreliable in terms of how long it takes for the coins to be in your account, as I suppose I got spoiled the first couple transactions when it only took hours.
-
I used them today. This was my very first BTC purchase, so I only exchanged a small amount of money (nothing I couldn't stand losing).
I used the cash deposit at BofA method. I mailed them the deposit slip (scanned - scrubbed of metadata) at 2:30. I got the "received and processing" email at 5:11, and a following saying they sent the coins at 10:18 (Including a link to blockexplorer.com showing the transfer, which was a nice touch.)
One slight complaint was that I needed more information than what was provided by their website. They gave an account# and account name, but because the deposit was out of state I also needed an address. Luckily the teller just filled out the address from the account# information, but I don't know what I could have done if the woman refused to make the deposit since I didn't have the address.
But altogether a quick, painless experience. I will use them again. I might try the Chase account next for comparison.
-
I only use get-bitcoin. No one else. Perfect every time. I drop off cash at bank, no ID is used. I have a system of buying from them at night on business day, then deposit the money in the morning on a business day, then i have coin by lunch. I get coin within a few hours of emailing them a picture of the deposit receipt. FLAWLESS imho.
-
@Diamond, yes the bank has that info. You do not need it, it comes up when they type in info or they can look it up, but it came up when the bank typed in the info when i did it. They have never asked me for more info then get-bitcoin has provided.
-
The recent problem I've had with them is because I put a maximum bitcoin price too low. They did not email me with anything and I asked them why it was taking awhile, and then when I tried to reply to their email it didnt go through.
Basically I have to email support a new email if I want to respond to the previous one. So stupid, so basically its been taking 3 days to get anything and I still have not received any word from them -_-.
The last few times I bought from them were perfectly fine as well, but this time is just shit.
-
The way that I use is that through the Chase online site. I have received the message from Chase that they have accepted the funds. That was four days ago. Every customer service person that has emailed me seems totally clueless. The whole thing is just frustrating...man I am having a bad streak here on SR lately boo :P
-
Deposited a few hundred bucks in a Bank of America Account yesterday morning and had the coins last night. Well done!

It is a bad idea to put a max price, if you really need the bits then leave the price blank. Putting the price in can really screw you over on when you get the bits, better to just buy them at whatever the current rate is as you never know how long it will take to reach your price target.

Did not know you could leave it blank. Thanks!

My Review is positive. I came across some old gift cards that I figured would still have money in them, so I made an order on get-bitcoin, put the cards in an envelope with some note paper giving the order number and amount on each card. Took 4 days to get there and then the Coin was in my wallet. No issues whatsoever. The three percent surcharge didn't really affect it too much. I left maximum price blank as well. I sent out another order Monday, still waiting on that one to get in.
-
It's been almost a week since I placed my order. Still no coins. Hopefully nothing is wrong.
-
I've used get-bitcoin for at least 5 transactions before today. They were all under $500 dollar deposits and within 24 hours I would receive my coins. I emailed their cutty rep last night and asked if their little 'crisis' has been diverted yet, and if it was safe for me to deposit 900 dollars and have them process it. Within 15 minutes I got an email saying that the crisis is almost over, and that anything under 1000 will be processed fine and dandy.
Anyway, deposited the cash this morning, and have not received any reply or email since then. I might just be prematurely bugging out, but I really cannot afford to be 900 in the negatives. First time I've ever had problems with their service.
-
been over 24hrs for me also...
no email confirmation and no help from support
-
I got a confirmation email, 6 hours after sending them the receipt via email.
Someone named Hannah has been emailing me instead of Alicorn, their usual cutty rep.
Hopefully all is well, my BTC orders usually got processed at 4 or 5 in the AM.
Guess it's time to smoke a few bowls of Kara's sweet tooth, and look for other btc vendors!
-
I've been emailing with hannah all day.
so far the story is nothing they can do w/out the order #...
however I was never emailed an order #.
I was emailed order #s for the 2 previous orders that didnt go through b/c I was given the wrong name to send the funds too ( sending from Dwolla)
but the funds were taken out of my Dwolla acct and sent to them when I placed the order
never again will I use them
-
Not Stokin Fear here, but I thought i would Chime in, I am having unexplained delays on 500 dollars worth of coins. I am hoping that this gets cleared up.

Well that's who I have been speaking with most of the day today. (Hannah) Sent them copy of the deposit slip like I've done before but for some reason my emails are bouncing back to me. I emailed every email address they had asking what the problem was. Several hours later (5 maybe?) Hannah emailed me and said they received my deposit slip and that I should be receiving bitcoins shortly. That was 2 hours ago and still nothing.
Yes, they are inside there 24 hour window still (15 hours to go) but this is the first time I've ever had an email bounce back when doing business with them, and this is the first time it's taken this long to get my coins. While I think everything (for me at least) will be ok, I may start looking for other vendors if this becomes a trend
-
Hannah emailed me and said they received my deposit slip and that I should be receiving bitcoins shortly. That was 2 hours ago and still nothing.
Two hours or more is reasonable, I think. I'm not an expert, but from what I understand regarding bitcoin transactions is that it can take several hours for the chain to receive all the confirmations it needs. It took me 4 hours to get the coins after receiving the confirmation. It also took a few hours the first time I transferred coins into my SR account.
-
I warn everyone not to use this site...
they just got me for $200
much easier ways to get bitcoins...this site is shady at best...
heres the email I recieved after many emails trying to get my situation straightened out:
I'll forward this along for you.( she forwarded my email with the new order # back to me)
and my reply:
so what your saying is my $200 is gone missing in cyberspace????
why would you forward my message back to me?
I'll take the lose and report my dealing with " getbitcoin" to every forum I can find.
thanks but no thanks for trying to clear this up.
it shows what kind of company I was dealing with. I am not a scammer, tried my best to get this situation resolved but it seems your company could care less what happened to my funds.
I could give a shit less about the $200, its just the principle of the situation that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.....
enjoy scamming others out of their money.
this business model wont be along for very long if this is how you treat your customers....
good day and enjoy that measley $200 I was scammed out of
FOK getbitcoins , never again ...I'll take the lose cause in reality it aint gonna take food off my table
but anyone thinking about using this method , think again... mush easier ways to fund your acct w/out dealing with this shady company
if their willing to screw someone over for $200 then this isnt a legit company I want to do business with
make your on choices of who you want to deal with ... I've already made mine
-
I forgot to mention that my Dwolla acct that the funds were taken out of clearly shows that getbitcoins was the reciever...
so where did the funds go???? anyone got any idea???
-
did you make sure you left the bitcoin software open long enough to download the whole chain? that's such bullshit to have happen to you, i'm sorry you had to go through that.
-
I know nohting about the bitcoin chain or softhware... I'm new to this but didnt have any problem doing the transaction from different sites
have not Dled it the blockchain ( dont even know WTF that means)
and have not need to for other services....
I have went through other methods w/in minutes and my wallet was credited
I'll chalk this one up to a lesson learned and go the other route next time....
moral of the story:
I've found easier ways to get my coins...lesson learned
-
First time I used them they were slow and they apologized and credited my account for my troubles. I just used them again this week and I deposited $200.00 into their bank account and had my coins in about 20 hours. I will definitely use them again.
-
Still nothing. I have almost 4k tied up with them. I can't afford to lose this. Wish me luck.
-
Same here. I slept in today, expecting to have my coins in my wallet. I have a little under a grand floating around with them, first time I've ever had a problem with their services, and will absolutely be the last time that I use their services. I forget which service I was using before, but they shut their doors down and get-bitcoin was te closest service that didn't seem that dodgy.
I've emailed hannah and the other cutty rep several times, and it's officially now outside the 24 hour window. Check out their thread on bitcoin talk forum from their page, seems like several other people are in our boat as well.
-

Yes I understand this as I have used them before in the past. But with my emails bouncing back, I sensed trouble. It has now been 24 hours since they received my deposit slip and nothing.. 150.00 down the drain if I don't get my coins. It's sad because I've used them without issue several times before. Like was mentioned with the person owed 200 bucks, I wont go hungry and the lights will def stay on, I was just really looking forward to making a couple of purchases which now must be put on hold until an alternative can be found :(
Anyone have an alternative to getbitcoins now?
-
Anyone have an alternative to getbitcoins now?
-
yea im fucking pissed to. yesterday at 9 i made a deposit for a small amount at chase and sent them a pic of my reciept and didnt get an email back from them till bout 6 pm which was odd because they usually confirm payment within an hour. i had to send them 4 emails asking if they recieved my payment yet before i got there response. tody its 1 pm and still no bitcoins. and who the fuck is this hanna bitch? i want alicorn back she at least would give rapid responses to my emails. if get bitcoin goes down whats similiar to this site? i used to use tradehill but them fuckers closed down and kept 12 dollars of my money. i was reading that if mt gox goes down then thats the end of bitoin cause then bits will be valueless if u cant exchange em for currency. so say a prayer mt gox dont go the way of all these other companies. i just want my fucking bits damnit!!
-
i agree, hannah is not on the ball :/ One thing for sure SR is too successful and if it all went to hell I'm sure someone would find a work around. Alternatives would def be nice
-
This will be fixed, dont worry guys, just taking a long time. larger orders might have to be pieced togethere across the marketplace... everyone be patient
-
I finally got a response with a little bit of sustenance. According to "hannah", they are having trouble moving coins into the account they use to buy coins. She says the account isn't completely zero so this should allow small orders to go through. I guess we shall see. I'm never sending them a large amount of money again. That's for sure.
-
Hope everything's okay and they didn't decide to go for the long con or anything... I've only got 150 tied up but will still be disappointed and annoyed if this doesn't go through
-
Thank you for updating with the new info. I have received no sort of communique, and would expect at least a semblance of concern for customer confidence.
-
i just recieved an email bout an hour ago from hanna in response to a nasty email i sent this morning saying theres a lack of communication and alot of pissed off customers on message boards and asking who hanna is and where is alicorn. the response i got was hanna is alicorn alicorn was her screename but people were not recieving emails from that email address but she using another email address and hanna is her real name, she also stated that there having a hiccup on there end and are trying to work it out and get caught up with the orders. my order is an extremely small one of only 10 bitcoins so the excuse that there onlyh having trouble with larger orders doesnt seem legitamate to me. time will tell if they get on the ball or not. it would suck if they went out of buisness as this was a very convienient way to get bits quickly and annonymously
-
well at least you're getting a response from her/him. I emailed them this morning and no response. If you guys are getting contacted then I wont email again, I'll just wait and see how this shakes out. I put a small order with BTCKing for about 20 btc since only GOD knows when we're going to get our coins.
-
I finally got a reply. The 'crisis' that they had has not been fixed as expected, and they're doing everythin to fix it and catch up on orders. Everyone's money/bitcoins are in the queue waiting to be processed. I'm sure everyone, on every message board, who is having issues with get-bitcoin would feel a whole lot better if there was at least some semblance of communication without having to send 2 or 3 emails and then waiting 12 or more hours for a response.
For the people who have larger orders of 1k or more like myself, it gets a bit troubling when before the customer service would at least attempt to be prompt. Crossing fingers that this will become fixed.
-
Well the fact that communication is trickling out is a good sign. No con here folks, just a logistical nightmare. I lay some of the blame on Tony76- he is awesome and his sale flooded the market with requests. he may be responsible for a 1% to 2% jump in the cost of coins.
We will be fine. Just no sale for those who wanted it. Good luck to everyone!
ggg
-
Lookinurmind, let us know how you made out with the $4k transaction... if they do end up coming through or if they don't.
I too have used Get-BTC for large sums of money (3k), so this is very troubling to me.
Everyone be sure to stop back and let us know how you made out!!
-
I'm not sure whether knowing that I'm not the only one who has been waiting forever makes me feel better or worse, but it's fucking ridiculous regardless. According to an email I received yesterday I was at the top of the queue and would be processed early this morning, but still nothing.
-
I finally got mine after waiting a week. With that wait time it's easier for me to use Dwolla since that's just right from my bank account and no (or little maybe, I'm not sure) fees. This past experience with get-bitcoins has turned me off for awhile.
-
After telling Hannah to raise my max price, I asked her when I would be able to get my coins. She emailed back within the hour saying she'd personally handle the transaction and I got my coins moments after. The mistake was mostly on my end so I can't really blame them.
-

i feel ya phanner, these fuckers need to communicate and follow through!!!!

is anyone vociferously checking their wallet/tormail as i am.
this is just terrible customer service and it drives me wild!!!

-
Well, they finally posted something on their site
Update 3/12/2012: We have temporarily suspended payments via Bank of America while we sort out some issues with the account. If you are having difficulties with your order, please contact us at support@get-bitcoin.com. We apologize for the inconvenience.
-
support@get-bitcoin.com has been bouncing emails back via daemon error.
ARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH
they are still accepting all other orders though..... if they can't handle their current volume, they should suspend future payments until resolution is reached so they can focus on their current issues. I do (despite my obvious frustration) hope that they can continue to do business as usual, as every experience before these last two deposits has been impeccable.
ggg
-
This looks to me like a very small operation that was quickly overwhelmed. I hope they get things right, I was all prepared to make a second purchase after my great first experience.
-
I imagine expanding their work force might do it, but someone's gotta give a shit about customer service to respond to worried customers
ggg
-
Well for what it's worth, I just used BTCKing, and it was the most flawless, quickest, transactions to btc I've had in 6 months. 20btc for 122.10 when you factor in all the fees (yes kinda steep) but I just made a deposit at my local chase and by the time I was at home the money was in my SR account!
I didn't want to wait around for getbtc to get there shit together. I personally believe I'll get my money, but I have a feeling it may be days or even longer. Anyway just thought I'd throw that out there. Also my email to support@getbitcoin didn't bounce back this time, so hopefully they will actually respond this time.
-
Also my email to support@getbitcoin didn't bounce back this time, so hopefully they will actually respond this time.
spoke to soon, it too bounced back :*(
-
Nothing is wrong with pending Bank of America orders; yours is in the
> queue and we expect to be able to catch up on it tonight.
>
received minutes ago from Hannah@gbc.* but replied from an email sent to support@get-bitcoin.* strange enough
although this is regarding a deposit that i made on thursday am, i feel like they are catching up to the cart... so to speak
ggg
-
It's probably just because BoA is a little sketched out from all of these deposits. Maybe they put a hold on it for a bit or something.
-
Good thing i skipped ahead in this thread! I was reading the first few pages with fairly decent reviews and I was about to go the BoA to do a deposit and skipped ahead to this part haha.
I hope they get it all sorted out.
Thanks guys for your updates!
-
Had my first interaction with them a couple days ago. Chose the cash deposit at Chase bank. Deposited the money, no questions were asked, and 4 hours later was looking at the coins. No problems whatsoever.
-
i to got the same email this morning stating that they hope to be caught up with delayed orders by tonight. ill believe it when i see it. at this point i dont even care to argue bout me getting the transaction fee refunded i just want my godamn bits!!!!
-
1 for 2,
large transaction has cleared, waiting on the smaller one, and the refund....
settle down everyone all is well ALL IS WELL!!!!!
ggg
-
Yep, everything's fine. I just got mine too.
-
Haha, christ, I think SR's getting hammered.
-
I hope they resolve their account issues because they were really starting to impress me with less than two hour turn around times....guess cash by mail will have to suffice for now...
-
all bitcoin vendors are being hit actually, check bitcoin monitor
-
bing bong, got mine too :) sweet, and I'm glad you guys are getting your money too!
-
this is email I have received the past 2 days:
funds still floating around in cyberspace I guess
Dear XXXXXXXX,
We apologize for the delay. I'll forward this up to my supervisor for you.
-
guess cash by mail will have to suffice for now...
let me know how this goes!
NTA
-
Has anyone had problems with get-bitcoin using the Chase deposit method? Does it still take a long time to receive your funds?
I'm ordering a few hundred $$ worth of btc tomorrow and really don't want my first semi-large order to fail.
-
As of today, still nothing yet for me.
-
Which deposit method did you use?
-
My Chase deposit took about 50 hours start to finish, my BOA deposit, done last thursday still has not been processed, I would probably use bitinstant method if you need the coins quickly...
at least until we see GBC start churning it out again
ggg
-
Yeah I really have to get familiar with bit instant, just in case. I just don't like the fact that you have to use a 3rd exchanger, especially since Mt. Gox (and others too, likely) flag the accounts of tor users. Maybe I just don't know the right one to use.
According to that bitcointalk review thread they link to on their home page, GBC's Chase deposits appear to be getting back to normal now: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34812.40
I'll email them prior to buying the coins early tomorrow, and cross my fingers from there. I really want to order bud and have it here by the weekend. GBC better come through in time for it to go out on Wednesday or at least Thursday :P
-
Received a reply today, stating my order will be processed, but because the market price for bitcoins rose they won't fill my order until I tell them to raise my max price. I would be alright with it, if i hadn't ordered such a substantial amount, and with the 5% fee, and the price fluctuation, I'm out 250 bucks so I'm short on the order I wanted to place.
All in all, I would probably not use their services again unless they really showed a vast improvement on their customer service and entire company system.
-
Hypothetically speaking, how safe is it to purchase BitCoin from Get-Bitcoin.com using the "Bank Account" method and then run them through BTFog and/or something else of the sort?
Also, if it is safe, does anybody know the time difference between the regular "Bank Account" transfer and the "Bank Account (Fast 3% Surcharge) method?
Thanks.
-
Well, based on threads from a couple other forums it seems like they are getting their operation back under control.
I had a good experience and I hope to use them again once the dust settles (assuming it settles). Is there anyone out there who is still completely in the lurch?
-
I got an email saying my coins have been sent.
probally my last time using them. so it took 4 days to get coins and they still charged the 5% fee.
getbitcoins can get fucked
I cant get into SR to confirm my coins have been sent either
-
One week and most of a day gone. No coins. :/ Used Bank of America
-
guess cash by mail will have to suffice for now...
let me know how this goes!
NTA
Cash by mail works good if you are not in a hurry...Print your order number on several sheets of paper and fold your cash up inside that if you're using a regular envelope. Since they are in California, unless you are on the west coast you may want to pay for 2 day priority shipping if you are in a hurry whih is about $5.
-
Has anyone used get-bitcoin's Chase deposit method in the last couple of days? I'm about to get some btc but I'm nervous about using them as I need it in my SR account today. I emailed them asking about their service status but that wasn't too long ago and they still haven't answered. Guess I'll have to use alternate means if no one can verify that their service is working properly today.
-
Used the Chase option yesterday at noon and had my coins this morning. Less than 24 hours! ;D
-
Finally got the coins. Just waiting on refund now.
-
i want to try this but I have bank of america.
If I was to use this service with cash, is it safe to put my proper return address?
-

I doubt they keep your envelope on file, but I dont put any return address. If its a large amount use priority mail with a delivery confirmation number...its less than $6.
-
thanks for the input my friend. can i practice sending you encrypted messages by any chance? i'm trying to figure out how this whole thing works.

I deposited 180usd and they told me that I should be getting my btc by march 23rd :o :o :o :o
WTF! Because of fraud they can't get that shit to me!
I have spring break and won't have any drugs because of this!
And btc was fucking low and now its 50-70cents higher! UFDSIFJFS:LKJ!
Fuck you get-btc >:( >:(
-
Hours later they answered my emails saying that they're mostly back to normal. I didn't want to risk using them this time so I went with bitinstant and mt gox. It's not as convenient due to the extra steps needed to ensure anonymity, but it's way faster (like 20 minutes) and more reliable.
-
Used them today... $200. Had my coins in less than 3 hours.
-
@minorthreat, what deposit method did you use?
get-bitcoins can get-fucked imo.
they've lost numerous customers because of their fuck ups
and they continue to act like everything's good on their end
-
and refuse to pay the fees if they take longer than the 24 hours they promise
-
I'm anxious to give this SR thing a shot.
So I'm attempting to buy bitcoins for the first time in my life.
Deposited $XX.xx bucks into get-bitcoin's XXXXXXXX account yesterday morning around XXXX, then emailed them a copy of the receipt.
An e-mail was sent back around XXXX explaining that the pic needs to show the XXXXXXXX. ARGH. My fault though, so I sent corrected pics, and received confirmation that my order is being processed around XXXX last night.
It's now 11:05 the next day and I haven't heard anything. This bit-coin thing is a huge pain in the ass <_<
It would please me, if people were far less specific about their dealings...
That is enough data to track you down friend. Edit your post, be more cautious.
-
wow, i wish i had read this thread. every other time i've used get-bitcoin it only took a couple hours! This didn't quite take 24 for me, but close! I would just let others know, the chase cash method still worked for me as of today, march 16. It just took closer to 24 hrs than 2-5!
-
I have used get-bitcoin. Through cash in mail and chase-instant payment deal online.
Both times flawless. Highly recommend.
-
I used chase and I'm on day 2
-
The very first time I used them it took 3 days. The last two times I have received my coins in only a matter of hours. They communicated very well and always fill my order promptly. I recommend get-bitcoins for sure.
-
Is their a way to use a visa cash card?? Like one you would get from walmart or cvs ? I talked to a company I think I seen on sr called buybitcoin.com Can anyone let me know if they used them? And what their fees were. Thanks
-
I placed an order on the 15th and am still waiting for a payment request from Chase. I probably will not use them again as the length of time it takes them is now the same as Dwolla and that is no fee
-
FUCK!! just went to get-bitcoins.com to buy my coins the same way i've always done it, through Bank Of America and I just read that they aren't using BOA now. I'm stressing because I've never bought bitcoins any other way and I owe someone on here money today that now I'm not sure how I'm gonna get it to him? Now I gotta do fucking research on how to buy bitcoins. This is bullshit!
-
I'd stay away from these guys personally I used em a few times and the coins got to me fast once, the other times it took way too fuckin long and was just a pain in the ass. My last experience it took 3 days to get the coins and then they claimed they were going to send me the service charge back which I never received this company is a joke compared to some of the better ones!
-
OK. I'm going to try buybitcoin.com. Just found them from another thread in the forums. I HATE change and I've always got my coins from getbitcoins.com but with the lack of Bank Of America access now I have to change up my shit and I'm always paranoid going with something new when the last thing always worked so well. I really hope I don't get fucked by this new company.

Let me know how it works man. I think I'm going to use them this week. Let me know what kind of payments they accept.

Just did another depo at one of the preferred banks and within 2 hours had a confirmation email. If everything stays as it has been I should have coin late tonight or early tomorrow. They have been great to work with.
-
It's been five days now on a chase deposit with multiple confirmation emails.....
-
i hate their email system because you cant reply to the email their support girl sends you; you have to reply to support@get-bitcoin.com again for them to get the second message
-
I made a BOA depoist on March 7th an am still waiting, i have resubmitted the reciept 4 times and have experienced shoddy, spotty communication
would not recommend anymore
-
I no longer recommend them either. I waited forever to receive my coin and they still charged me the 5% fee that is suppose to be waived if it takes more then 24 hours. I've emailed them asking for a refund over and over with no reply.

-
Well we have passed the 24 hour mark ans after three emails I am being told they are having "a temporary issue with their coin disbursement system and we hope to catch up tonight" So now my $300 is likely going to sit in someones pocket while the Opana I wanted to buy sells the fuck out. I'll keep you posted; I know they'll get me my coin but if its the same time length as Dwolla I'll do it myself. Good luck to everyone else.

-
my first experience with them was great, second was ugh, and now my i recently deposted $320 and got a processing email about 8 hours ago. I hope those coins come soon..
-
Riding these people off as scammers for how I feel. It has been well over 4 days now without a damn bitcoin to show for my deposit.
Wish everyone luck and I reccomend bitinstant or using dwolla maybe?
-
For what it's worth, I decided to take a chance on another transaction today since my first one went so well. Used the cash deposit at Chase this time (was actually easier than at BoA).
Received confirmation 90 minutes after emailing the deposit slip, and received fulfillment notice about 8 hours later. Not the 2 hour turnaround I got last time but well within 24 hours and still only at 5% fee.
-
its a crap shoot with these people(thats plural cause they say they added more people but i don't believe them). every time i've used deposit at their bank the btc was at my address withing 12 hours. after reading earlier posts in this thread i decided to skip BOA and went to Chase instead. 14 hours from deposit to my wallet. protect yourself if you decide to mail things to them. they seem to like to selective scam like some vendors on here have. if only there were more options that didn't rape you to get btc. DPR, i know you have it in you to create some currency designed specifically for SR use. there are plenty of people here that can help. maybe im too high think of all the cons right now.
-
Well good news, I finally got my fee refunded...After two weeks.
-
After 38 hours I received my coins. I know for a fact these people don't rip you off but sometimes they have some great excuses.
-
These people are on the up and up, as has been stated, they are getting slower, and have added an employee or two, who don't seem to work well. The Admin of order@get-bitcoin.com, when CC'd, dealt with the situation within hours, and even admonished Hannah in the email..., they have remitted all service fees and gone over and beyond since then.
I am back to endorsing Get-Bitcoin.com use this service kiddies....
-
they seem to like to selective scam like some vendors on here have. if only there were more options that didn't rape you to get btc.
That's a bit of a stretch, isn't it? It seems more likely that they are having trouble dealing with their order volume.
DPR, i know you have it in you to create some currency designed specifically for SR use. there are plenty of people here that can help. maybe im too high think of all the cons right now.
Well, BTC is all open source, so there's nothing to stop anyone from creating the currency. You could call it SRCoin and just start a new blockchain. This would not eliminate any of the problems you are having getting coins.
BTC are only valuable because of adoption. People are willing to buy them for an established currency (which is valued anywhere), therefor BTC have value. How many people would adopt SRCoin? Where you you exchange them for cash? What would stop the "scams" you've already been dealing with?
An exchange medium like BTC can only be used in a market if it has inherent value, which BTC does not, or value as an exchange medium outsite of the market, which BTC does. The idea of our own little currency is nice, but not at all plausible.
And honestly, it's not that difficult to get coins. It's difficult to get them both cheaply and anonymously.
-
I deposited 1k with them, took 6 days total to get my coins. They took their percentage and I still haven't received an email back after sending her 3 emails a day since then. They made me lose a chunk of change because of how long it took to process, and coin prices going up.
I've emailed Hannah with no avail, and have been asking to speak to her admin. I personally won't use them again, nor recommend anyone to use their Bank of America method if it becomes available again. Their Chase deposits however, they seem to clear within 24 hours.
-
https://www.get-bitcoin.com/home/faq
Check the "My Bank Account" section of the FAQ. Not sure how / if this is going to affect all bank deposits (I don't use get-bitcoin, nor have any desire to after my first dealing with them), but its definitely something people should check out before using them.

Well good news, I finally got my fee refunded...After two weeks.
Really? Who were you emailing, Hannah? I've been trying to get a refund for my fee for about the same amount of time and haven't even received a response.
-
Are there other sites like get-bitcoins.com ? Are any of them reliable?
-
Ever since Tradehill went down, they have been hit or miss.
I do the cash deposit at Chase and always CC everything to all 4 email addys. Hannah, Alicorn, orders, and support. I send them a scan in JPG and PDF format. The longest wait recently was 38 hours two weeks ago. But the week before that, had coins in 46 minutes. Otherwise, my average was 16-18 hours since last year.

im sure they are swamped but they did rip me off, that's the reason i called them selective scammers. i used their mailing in card service with dcn and they told me they never got it. i got dcn# just like vendors will on here to make sure no games were played. thats why you should protect yourself. dcn# and maybe a return receipt. i can take the loss, its just the games they played in the face of my facts.
-
I placed an order on March 14 and still have not received the payment request from Get Bitcoins, just the original email confirming my order. It is extremely frustrating and I will not use their service again. Grr >:(
-
"FUCK GET BITCOIN!!! THEY CAN SUCK MY DICK.
It's been 2 weeks and still no coins. I msg them wtf and they get all pissed off at me saying it was my fault....for what?! TRADING WITH YOUR FUCKING SITE!? CAUSE THAT SEEMS LIKE THE ONLY QUESTION YOU CAN ASK. BASTARDS.
They said either I will get a refund in my boa by the 23rd or coins. SO they better get their shit going"
Quote by friend
Luckily I stopped going there 2 weeks ago. This is my friend who was trying to get tony's 175usd 5 gram mdma deal. I think he missed it fosho ::)
It does really suck though cause it's his spring break and he wanted mdma for that shit haha. Poor guy haha. He should of cared more about sr than school :p
-
would not recommend anymore
So at one point you did recommend their service? And now, you do not recommend their service? Damn? Is that not called waffle (making)? Are you voting for the magic underwear - wearing - republican? You two seem to hold the hard line.... Wait, may be you two have similar ulterior motives.... hmmm, which is it?
-
Sent in a money order on Saturday (actually shipped on Monday), got bitcoin Friday morning.
Takes a bit, but it is still pretty simple and as fast as a bank deposit. I think I will be giving wm-moneycenter my business now, having bitcoin within a couple hours is worth an extra $5 or so depending on how much you are buying. Right now I think they are still offering 0% fees for bitcoin, so you only have to pay the MG fee.
-
Just to echo what others have said: cash deposit to Chase bank is way better than BOA, if you can swing it. No checking off the city of the company on the deposit slip, no entering of phone numbers or addresses. All you have to do at Chase is enter the company name, acct #, and dollar amount.
This is my second transaction with Get-Bitcoin, had no problem with the first (cash deposit to BOA), so when/if it goes through, I will report on how the deposit to Chase went.

I've just printed the invoice and let the cashier do all the work, never touched a pen.

Touche. Will have to try that next time, didn't even occur to me.

Hi kaynoh. You have the address wrong, its actually "https://get-bitcoin.com/", not get-bitcoinS.com. Hence the lack of a page at the latter address. I still wouldn't recommend using them though, try out candianbitcoins.com or wm-center.com.

-
thought this was a reliable service? anyone have good experiences with just mailing money orders? seems like the people who are having problems are going through the banks.
-
People who are having trouble are paranoid druggies who are in a drug haze. All you do it fine a legit 3rd party btc exchanger that sends money to mtgox or whatever wallet you have to send btc to sr.
So easy. Moneypaks are so fucking lame. But I might look into them SO i can become a vendor and have only 5-7% fee's. FOR ANY AMOUNTS
-
I'm new to SR and to bitcoins, but my experience reflects what's been in this thread so far pretty well.
-Sent money using a prepaid debit card, but had to physically mail the card to them. So, this is solidly anonymous but no better in terms of not losing your money than mailing cash.
-They got payment late Monday and I got my bitcoins early Friday. Not the 24 hour window they promised, but based on reviews they seem pretty overwhelmed and they did post on Monday that cash payments might be delayed. I think it actually helped me because the bitcoin price went down slightly over those few days.
-I got a quick response confirming when I asked on Wednesday whether they had received my payment.
So the summary is that I'm happy, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're willing to be patient for a few days. Looking at the complaints here and on the bitcoin forum, it's clear that the "within 24 hours or we'll refund your fee" bit is not working, but I haven't seen a single person say that they never got paid at all. Personally, I'm never in a huge hurry and the service was smooth, easy to use, and anonymous, so I'd use them again unless something better crops up.
-
FYI Just received an email from Hannah and she said that they have hired Zendesk to help them manage their emails and provide support. The new URL is getbitcoin.zendesk.com
-
I wouldn't go through them again. Took 'em forever to fill my order.
-
I'm sorry for anyone having trouble with this service because it has worked flawlessly for me both times I've used it. Both transactions happened in under 24 hours (usually shorter) and were smooth as could be.
-
It has been like 4 days for me and still nothing in my wallet. They got my money like the second day. It does seem the hardest thing about buying on SilkRoad is getting bitcoins to do so. There must be easier alternatives.
-
I used to recommend these guys but recently they suck. My last two bitcoin buys I went with bitinstant which blows get-bitcoins out of the water. Seriously have your money to buy coins on your preferred site in minutes, no bullshit.
-

I second this notion. I personally never had a problem with get-bitcoin but I haven't used them since before the recent trouble people have been reporting with them. I just went through Bitinstant this week and the transaction was very easy and I had my coin in my wallet when I got home from the bank.
-
Not a spokesperson for bitinstant but why even wait 8 hours? When I say you have funds in your Mt. Gox or whoever you use within 15-25 minutes of making a deposit. Unbeatable.
-
I have done a few orders with them and it is always over 12 hours after cash deposit. My most recent and largest transaction with get bitcoin has now crossed the 50 hour mark. Next time I think I am going to try bitinstant.
-

Just to make sure I've got this straight... you give your money to bitinstant, who functions as a go between for you and Mt Gox. Then your money goes to Mt. Gox, still in dollar form, where you trade it for bitcoin?
Ill give this a shot next time I have some cash.
Yes exactly. And once your dollars are in Mt.gox if you check the box to buy coins as "Market price", the conversion will be instant.
-
I used them twice. The first one was fairly easy, only took four days from beginning to end. The second transaction took 8, even though I'd chosen their "speedy" process or whatever it's called. I'm going to give Mt. Gox a try. It seems much more complicated, but at least it doesn't take more than a week!
-
I used them the other day and did a BOA deposit and had my BC by the afternoon. Fast, Simple, and good communication.
-
It's been 5 hours for me (BOA cash deposit) and no word from them/nothing in my wallet... I assume that they send an email to tell you when the transaction is done... could someone who's used them successfully confirm that, please? (I didn't see any mention of it in this thread)... thanks
-

If you have your BOA receipt, scan it and email it to them. They SHOULD respond within 24 hours but based on some more recent reviews it could take a couple of days. So far I haven't seen anyone do a BOA deposit get completely scammed by them, just slow response time from time to time.

They say it can take up to 24 hours. It took a bit longer for me, but I think that was with Chase. Either way, I wouldn't sweat it. They aren't always speedy, but they'll come through eventually.
-
bitinstant through bitstamp is dead simple and fast. all you have to do is order it and deposit in the bank. getbitcoin is too much of a damn hassle now.
-
Just to make sure I've got this straight... you give your money to bitinstant, who functions as a go between for you and Mt Gox. Then your money goes to Mt. Gox, still in dollar form, where you trade it for bitcoin?

Yeah, what I've done the past couple times is set up a cash deposit on bitinstant to mtgox account, make a cash deposit at nearby B of A (no identity or questions asked).
Mtgox is a fucking hassle because if you log in on Tor, they'll flag your account and ask for proof of identity. I created the account and log in on public wifi, by the time I log in (about an hour or two from depositing $$) the USD would already be in my account (bitinstant takes %5 fee for cash deposit), immediately buy it at market price then send it to btc wallet at home.
Put it through normal btc trail hiding measures, split it up and into wallets and such then deposit into SR or whatever I plan to do with it.
Face is on camera depositing $$ at bank (bitinstant does record which specific bank you goto, but I'm not sure if it's on Trustcash or bitinstant records) and mtgox account is accessed through my laptop, though on public wifi. Other than that, there's no linking to me, wouldn't be unthinkable to deposit directly from mtgox into SR account...
Might try one of the SR vendors with the cash cards (BTC Buddy seems reputable). Going through mtgox is a pain.
-
I just want to add another positive review for Bitinstant! I used to use Get-Bitcoins, but Bitinstant is sooo fast. I had the money in less than a half hour.
-
Is there no way to buy bitcoins without leaving my couch?
-
After syg fucked me over i'm never buying btc through a vendor again
-
I am only slightly freaking out:
Earlier this month I had deposited cash to them and it worked flawlessly..
Just right now I deposited cash at the bank and then tried to email them my receipt. I added all of them to the email: hannah, support, and orderinfo. And all of it returned with a "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)."
Are there emails down? What do we do :-\ :'(
-
Done a few exchanges with getbitcoin and the first few were done in less than 24 hours. This last one, the largest, took about 72 hours. And of course the item I wanted sold out by that time. I think I will try bitinstant next time as they seem to process orders much faster.
-
About to buy from get-bitcoin from the first time. Has anyone here bought from them recently? How long did it take? I saw they've been overwhelmed but I was hoping they'd caught up by now.
-
They will come through but if you set the market price it can screw everything up. My recent order took 36 hours because they require a .10 grace between your bid and the market price.
-
Does Get-Bitcoin deposit directly into SR account or do you have to transfer it around a bit? Sorry for the noob question. I'm still debating how to buy my BTC. I tried bitinstant to cryptoXchange since I can use it on tor but bitinstant kept saying my crypto acct was invalid
-
It is recommended that you transfer to a wallet online or via bitcoin client application installed on your computer. Then you can xfer through other wallets or online services like bit fog ( I think that is the name) to increase anonymity. Once transferred to your SR account the coins will also be tumbled to increase anonymity. And you are done.
-
Welp, I'm going through with it, getting me some coins!
I'll report back how long it took.
-
If your buying bitcoins through money orders, campbx.com is the best. They get your money in your account in 4 days. the prices are barely higher than mt.gox and the fee is half a percent of the transaction. The only better way to get coins that camp bx is mt.gox but its hard to send those fuckers your money. its like shutup take my money theyre like no.
-
Got my coins! Not bad.
-
It took like 5 - 6 days for me to get a small amount of money. Communication wasn't so good. One response would say one thing and another would say another. THERE HAS TO BE AN EASIER BETTER WAY TO GET BITCOINS! Why is there just a couple places in this entire market?
-

What method did you use? When did you make the order?
They had some problems a week or two ago but I think they have everything sorted. They have a customer service group now handling things.
My order went swimmingly. Bank deposit, in and out, no ID. Not even 8 hours from Bank to clicking order on SR.
-
I processed a WU wire. I think could have possibly been the biggest delay I guess. It was just odd that nothing happened until 2 days AFTER they received the money. Maybe next time I will try bank deposit. You really don't need an ID when making a deposit to a bank? Even in my own state with my OWN account they still ask for an ID here. They are ID happy in this state, so I'm guess if I try to make a deposit with someone else's account they surely will ask for ID, blood type, height, weight and even body fat percentage.
-
You don't have to show ID to make a cash deposit to a bank. At least not here.
I've used Get-Bitcoin 3 times. First and second times were quick and easy.
From the time I deposited cash in their bank account, and sent my photo of the receipt, to the time I had BTC in my wallet was under 8 hours.
BUT third time I used them, was a different story. No communication for 2 or 3 days, and FINALLY got the BTC after me sending them an email where I passive-aggressively said I hope they're no selective scamming me.
They say it's guaranteed 24 hour turnaround, but it would be more accurate for them to state "SOMETIMES it's within 24 hours"
If you scroll back a few pages, you will see people saying they've been selectively scammed.
I really wish there was another method that was fast, easy, and had similar decent fee to use (get-bitcoins 3% fee is not bad at all, considering there are some SR btc traders that I swear have lost their damn minds with their fees and BTC selling rate)
anyway, good luck!

How long for most people using averages? (from day shipped to day recieved)
-
less than an hour

How long for most people using averages? (from day shipped to day recieved)
For any bank deposit, When I have cashed it before noon and send the receipt I have gotten my coin before I wake up the next morning. This has almost always been the case.
When mailing cash, money order, or check it will take 5-7 days depending on the mail, and if you included enough information for them to initially tag your order with it (make sure to include order # inside the envelope or the name used to place the order on the return address)
-
Get-Bitcoin.com is a great website. But you spelled the name wrong.......
I have never heard of Get-BitCoin doing any1 wrong
-
I sent out a prepaid debit card last Monday, and received the bitcoins today. An 8 day turnaround was longer than I expected, but nonetheless they did arrive.
-
Get-Bitcoin is the best place to buy bitcoins if your favorite exchanger is out on Silk Road. I havent heard of Get-BitCoin ripping anyone off or doing anything shady. The worst I hear is that people complain because the value of bitcoins went up and they got less. I understand that they are sad for getting less but I think its wrong to blame it on Get-BitCoin unless he took an exceptionally long time.
-
I've used it twice and have not had any problems... yet.
-
Well I just sent them my first prepaid for my first SR purchase.....hope this works out.
-
Have used them again, BoA deposit, now their help desk wont recieve emails from tormail or safe mail
25 hours
not worried

Hey guys. To hell with get-bitcoin. This is how you do it:
Bitinstant bank deposit (works the same way as get-bitcoin) > Mt. Gox > your private wallet running behind Tor > SR.
You'll have your BTC in like three hours max.
ArumXChange (official MTGox) is slightly cheaper then bitinstant and just as fast.
-
Are there any withdrawal fees from MtGox to wallet? And is there a deposit limit with BitInstant or ArumXChange?
-
Has anyone sold to get-bitcoin.com and received payment? Cash/Check etc?

"We have received too many failed requests from your IP address. Consiquently, your IP address has been blocked for 24 hours. Please try again after this time tomorrow. "
How do you get around the above problem when logging into mtgox.com? Or do you not use TOR when logging into Mt. Gox? It is my understanding that this happens because of TOR nodes' IP addresses getting blacklisted by Mt. Gox.
-
Did a deposit with Get-Bitcoin yesterday through Bank Of America. Sent scans of deposit receipt via email.
Had the coins on 4 hours. Not a record but better than the 16-18 hours I'm used to when using them.

How long does it usually take when mailing them a prepaid card? Been 6 days now so I am not to worried but I found it odd that after my order confirmation it just said to mail them the card. It never asked for me to put the order number in the envelope with it or enter the card number so they would have some sort of way of knowing the card was mine. Is this not odd?
-
Just received getbitcoin payment in mail.
They do a decent service so far~!

It isn't odd, it's an assumption on their part that you will either:
A.) Use the same name in the return address that you placed your order with (will delay the processing of your order btw)
B.) Already include the order number in your envelope, because of your thought process above.
If you did not do either of these, please contact support. You may end up having to place another order with a name matching the return address for them to match the card with. Or something of that nature so that they may correctly match up the order with the card.
-
Well I was gonna use them but decided it against it after they emailed me this when I asked if they were experiencing any delays, Hanna said,
"Hannah, Apr 18 17:15 (EDT):
Chase and Bank of America are no longer giving us problems. If turnaround
time is a priority for you, it might be best to wait a day or two to place
your order; we're experiencing a small hiccup with Mt. Gox which affects
all orders, although so far they have not become late as a result, but we
expect to resolve it soon. We apologize for any inconvenience."
so I'm going a different direction, just that I'd post that if your trying to get your btc's ready for the sales on 4/20, I know I am :D
-
I got some coins from them using Dwolla (since the Dwolla -> MT Gox thing is screwed now) - took around 15 hours. Accidentally filled in the max bitcoin price too, and e-mailed support about it telling them to disregard that, and they got back to me within an hour and fixed it up. Pretty happy with their service so far.

Bitinstant has a 1k per cash deposit limit and only does a max of 4k a day at the moment

I got the coins in my account 9 days after mailing my prepaid card to them. I feel like they charged me way more than 3% though. I sent them $440 and they only gave me 78 bitcoins. I was out of town for the weekend so I don't know how high bitcoins got but I can't imagine that high. Either way I am happy I didn't get ripped off but will be finding another way next time.

Well they charge 5% fee, so $440 minus 5% is $418. If you got 78 bitcoins that would indicate you got your coins at an exchange rate of 5.35 BTC per USD. If you go to bitcoincharts.com you can see that the exchange rate over the weekend went all the way up to 5.45 BTC per USD. This means there is a high likelihood they bought your bitcoins when the exchange rate was near 5.35 BTC/USD for the better part of a day over the weekend.
So they didn't rip you off and note that the 3% fee is when you sell them bitcoins, they charge 5% when you buy bitcoins from them. The fee at which they sell bitcoins to you has to be higher than the fee at which they would buy them back from you otherwise they would lose money or break even and lose labor costs simply by someone buying coins from them and selling them right back.
If this stuff interests you, google information on foreign exchange markets.

No offense but I am very familiar with how the free market works. I must have just misread the % or something. Thanks for the summary though.

He's talking about the 3% surcharge on prepaid cards.
So it's actually 8% on the prepaids.
$440 - 8% = 404.8 = $5.19 per coin.
I usually send cash in the mail, it's just like doing the prepaid cards, but they only charge you 5% instead of 8%.

Get-bitcoin.com is horribly unorganized. 24 hour guarantee is absolute bullshit and they never honor it. 4 out of 4 orders have been late...
One sell order took 3 weeks to receive payment. They "forgot" about it.
Another sell order took about 10 days to get through Western Union. They "forgot" about it.
They also just make up numbers about how much the fee is. Horribly overcharged for WU, like $170. They are the easiest route to avoid paying taxes and they know it. So they don't give a damn.
Stay away if you can. Especially for sell orders.
-
^ Agreed
The 24 hour window is indeed total crap, and they always charge the service fee anyway unless you harass them about it.

yeah I am done with them. hoping I can find an otc in my area.

ok people--need some input/clarification.
i have used getbitcoin twice w/ no prob, got coin within 4-6 hrs. this third time everything business as usual, got the email saying coin is in--but was not in for over 24 hrs. usually when i get that email the coin is in within a cple hrs. so i have been emailing them back and forth for 2 days -Hanna said sorry it looks like we messed up will need to give to supervisor-but he is very busy. we do not know what the problem is. this is ridiculous.
i used the cash bank transfer.
i sent directly to SR coin address, is this really bad in any way? how/why?
why should/would i bother with my coin dealings on TOR? isnt the SR addy hidden? isnt coin legal?
now, about this bitinstant > bitstamp--------orrrrrrrrr---------bitinstant > mt gox? how does this work exactly?
i am not understanding. looks like i can go to mt gox and choose funding method cash deposit via bitinstant.
so i wldnt really need to get onto bitinstant if i did this?
should i use the redeemable as Mt.Gox code or u.s. dollar amount?
when its in there what next? how to get to SR?
just wondering simplest place to transfer to SR addy.
i know, lots of ? but wld like to try others diff frm getbitcoin...me no likey the unprofessional emails from them.

Has anyone experience with sending cash through mail? Cause as far as I know the cash deposit option only works in the USA, or am I wrong?
-
I've gotten coins from them sending cash in the mail, was only $60 though. Their fees aren't great, but it is kind of hard to find exchangers that accept citm.
-
Wish They had a bank in my area but as it is I had to send the money order last Wednesday and now the wait is on. But after searching for 2 days trying to find a way to buy some coin I found get-bitcoin and decided to use them because I wanted to get more bang for my buck. Next time I use them I will drive thirty minutes to their bank and make a deposit
-
I've used them once, but today I was going to do a deposit into their account, but that option no longer appears on their site. WTF?? The only options were mainly sending in something, i.e., cash, mo, etc. WTF? That's a deal breaker for me. Gonna look elsewhere more convenient to buy the coin...
I saw that today too. I've done a ton of BofA deposits to the GetBitcoin account with good success. Now BofA direct cash deposits are apparently gone. No comments on the GetBitcoin web site. This is a deal breaker for me too. Guess it's time to try BitInstant.
-
The last three transactions with Get-Bitcoin were disasters. Way too long, all screwed up, and nothing but bullshit coming from their "support". They are very quick to side-step blame and glacially slow in fixing anything. Every one of my transactions was severely late and I was still charged. Get-Bitcoin can gargle a sweaty sack, I'll be using BitInstant next.
-
I spoke with Hannah from getbitcoin today and cash deposits at Bank of America were temporarily suspended due to volume control. She said theyll be back up tonight.
-
This bitinstant sounds cool, but you guys are saying they put your money in a Mt Gox account, dont you have to sign up at that place and verify your identity? Why would i want to link myself to my btc?
-
I used Get bitcoin before the 420 sales and I had my coin in ~8 hours or so. I didn't have any issues with them and a cash deposit. I hope they can still accept that, or it looks like gonna find a new exchange. :-[
-

Hmmkay. Still, it's kinda the only working option for me I guess... Also, except for the fact that your mail can got lost or whatever, it's still actually a rather secure method, or not? Because it can't really get traced back to your real identity?
Also, did it actually go good for you, or did you have any complications/long wating time due to cash arriving? Sorry for asking that much questions, but i'm quite a noob to this and a bit insecure. :S

Sure it about the most anon way to do it, imo. I think they ask for ID or similar for amounts over $1000, but there's no need to give them anything other than a fake name and return address otherwise. I think it took about 5 days total? I wouldn't trust my memory too much though ;) Also, while I've had perfect luck with cash in the mail, there is always the risk...

Get-Bitcoin sucks!!! Somethings wrong when your more nervous about whether or not you will receive your coins then if your ILLEGAL SCHEDULED SUBSTANCES will show up on your DOORSTEP lmao! The first couple times I used them it only took about a day r two to process my order from the time of receiving my letter in the mail (I use prepaid debit cards, you have to physically send them. Also the fee is jacked up to 8%.), the last time I used them (about a 10 days ago) my letter arrived (I purchased DCN) 5/04/2012, it was sent 5/02/2012, and they FINALLY got around to it after the many emails I sent to there ONE person support staff (FUCK YOU HANNAH) it was 5/08/2012. No bullshit, it took them 4 days to process my order!!! 24-Hour turnaround guarantee my ASS! In the whole time I have been using Get-Bitcoin (Basically for the lack of other sites that accept prepaid Visa debit) they have only completed my order in a reasonable time twice...They actually told me that USPS lies about when they deliver items and that it's not there fault whatsoever. I have yet to receive a refund of fee's from any of the times they have taken longer than 24-Hours. And I'm a reasonable person, if it was once or twice I could of cared less. But like I said before, when it gets to the point where you get anxiety about whether or not they will credit your coins...
Funny how things work out. I remember back when reading on these exact forums about how good Get-Bitcoin is and how quick they are, myself included (I know I reviewed them after my first order and it was literally the exact opposite of this review lol). Even now reading the forums and even this thread, the whole attitude towards them has changed.
I can only speak about using prepaid Visa Debit Cards to purchase the coins, I have not used any other of the options on there site. And I will not be using them, after this last experience I swore to myself that I would never use there site again no matter what.
Fuck Get-Bitcoin.com, the dudes raking in the money charging a base fee of 5% and can't even run a quality business. I'm waiting for the day when whoever runs that site dips out with all the money from all the orders he's getting and just disappears. They try to sound official with the LLC, I can buy one of those for $500, all that means is the you cannot sue them for any reasons. Releases them from liability.

So if I use bitinstant and make a cash deposit from Chase, without giving my name, then have it sent to a Mt.Gox account I create using WiFi at Burger King, can I send the bitcoins directly from Mt.Gox to my SR wallet using public wifi again?
-
I used Bitinstant once...when Get-Bitcoin was not accepting BofA deposits. BitInstant is more complicated IMO. It seems like there's an additional step. And of course, the ONE time I used the service, my btc was lost. After contacting BitInstant by email, they told me it was a Mt. Gox problem. Whatever. I finally ended up with my btc.
People have had problems with Get-Bitcoin but it's been flawless for me. Usually have the btc within 8 hours without fail. And it's just a matter of depositing some cash at a BofA. For the moment, I'm staying with Get-Bitcoin but that's always subject to change. It's nice to know there are a few relatively anonymous, secure, alternatives.
Just my experience FWIW.

How recently have you used get-bitcoin? I'm deciding between that and bitinstant and from the looks of what everyone's saying, bitinstant seems like the better option... How it it any more complicated?
This is what I plan on doing soon:
1. www.bitinstant.com
Payment from (cash deposit) -> Select Bitcoin to Email (coinapult)
Destination Acct = your tormail
Amount = Your choice
Notificiation email = your tormail
Bitinstant will ask you for a pin number, remember this.
2. Deposit Cash
3. go home and check email address
4. Follow link in email to coinapult page. This is the page that has your coins. Enter SR wallet and PIN you created for bitinstant.
Done.
Any holes in this? It transferring BTC through multiple wallets really necessary before transferring to your SR account?

No holes in it but there is the extra step of going from BitInstant to Coinapult email then to your wallet. The Get-Bitcoin transaction goes directly to your wallet once you've made the deposit. I used Get-Bitcoin last week and have another transaction in process now. I'm not advocating one over the other, it's just I've had good success with Get-Bitcoin so far. It's whatever you're comfort level is.
I transfer my Get-Bitcoin direct to my wallet then with several smaller transactions, to my SR account, changing my Tor identity each time. And, of course deleting the wallet or backing it up elsewhere.
-
Curious to see your results of the new transaction. For your sake I hope it's quick, seems like everyone else is having bad luck.
Any suggestion as to where to sign up for an intermediate step ewallet? And you transfer coins over in small chunks? What's the point in that?
-
Maybe it's paranoia but my rationale is to break up the transaction and transfer it to SR as multiple smaller transactions and changing the Tor network identity each time. The transaction "looks" completely different from the original Get-Bitcoin to personal wallet transfer.

Coins showed up 10-1/2 hours after I sent the scanned BofA receipt to Get-Bitcoin. Lucky again?
-
I sent a money order to them.
I suggest if you are sending them something in the mail(cash, money order, prepaid gift card) DO NOT have a signature confirmation. Nobody will sign for it at first and they "rarely make special trips to the post office for a parcel" although they did for me.
After they got my order and verified it I had my BTC.
Customer service is pretty professional.
I will be using them again.
-
I deposited money into their BofA account on Monday...still haven't received my bitcoins. They say that they are having bank difficulties. They also cannot give me a straight answer on when I will receive my money.
Anyone else having an experience like this? While I have used them several times before, this is making me nervous, like I am being scammed.
-
Ok don't know if I missed something but does this service only work for the US? Couldn't find any informtation regarding this on the site.. . If not, which option should I choose under payment method if I want to make a cash deposit from the EU? There kind of isn't any option for that. ??? :-[ :-[ :'( :'( :'( :'( :o :o
-
...which option should I choose under payment method if I want to make a cash deposit from the EU? There kind of isn't any option for that....
I'm fairly certain you'd need to use the cash-in-the-mail option, which is doable if somewhat risky. That is, unless you can find a Bank of America, Chase, Citigroup, or Wells Fargo branch where you are (which is highly unlikely). There are people here (on the forum) -- vlad1m1r, for one -- and on SR itself that may offer an easier / safer way to obtain coins.
Edit: Or you could e-mail their contact address [ info@get-bitcoin.com ] and ask what they recommend.
-
honestly I think its worth paying people on SR for BTC. I pay probably an extra $20 through BTC King, but its way safer and much less of a hassle. I think its worth it.
-
Hmm. I have just figured out (or at least have a vague idea) how purchasing BTCs on regular sites work, and now I'll have to go for something else :/
I really don't have an idea how this works. How can you pay them then on SR if BTCs are the only currency that work? Also, don't they then immediately show up in your SR-wallet, which is kind of unsafe? Maybe there's already some information about this anywhere..?
Edit: Okay, so apparently I need a Moneypak-Account or something. No idea either how this works, but do I have to access that website via tor or is it risky via clearnet?
-
I had some transactions that went perfect, coin within 4-6 hours. But when it did not go good it was really really bad. Hard to get a response. When I did it was very vague and "sorry we do not know what happened". Took weeks to get, and did not get service fee refunded as advertised. Very stressful time.
I will not use them again because of this horrible time. If they were quick to respond and give at least an idea on when it would be resolved it would have been better and I would have been patient. Instead they said "we do not know when we will find out what happened, we need to give to the supervisor and he is very busy" . Unacceptable.
Due to this I will be using a vendor in SR, the extra fee will be worth it.
-
I've used get-bitcoin twice for a few thousand dollar transactions and it has come through every time perfectly. Just takes really long for it to clear in their bank account from where I am!
-
I used Get-Bitcoin this morning with their new TrustCash and Coinapult service. The last few times I got my coins in about 6 hours. This time, with their new setup, I had my coins and my order placed in the same amount of time. I'd definitely use them again.
-
I have also used get-bitcoin.com and their new bank deposit trustcash service. SUPER fast, had my coins in my email ready to "coinapult" after 10 minutes!

As someone who has used Get-Bitcoin several times in the past with good results, but never used Bitinstant or Coinapult, could you elaborate a bit on how the process differs and what I might expect when I buy some more bitcoins soon? Thanks for any info you can provide.

Alright, well essentially it's basically the same. Now, when you submit the order form online you will receive a confirmation email as normal, however, no you also need to wait for the email from trustcash. SAVE YOUR GET-BITCOIN TRANSACTION NUMBER. Once you've received that email, go to your nearest BoA (not the one they tell you to go to) and deposit into the account, making sure to note the different account number and the state the account was opened in. The amount you deposit will be slightly different, ie, if you want to deposit 200 USD you'll deposit 201.18. This is so they can ID your transaction faster and get your money quicker. Once you deposit, you'll receive an email from coinapult, trustcash, as well as get-bitcoin (I think). From there, you just go to the coinapult link they email you, and put in the BTC address you want the coins to go to, and the last 4 digits of the transaction number get-bitcoin gave you.
-
I've had absolutely no problems with them in all my trasactions. A little slow, maybe, but I'm patient.

I have heard from a good friend that they keep giving u bot excuses and take weeks to get your funds from these guys.
I have never had any dealings with GetBitcoin personally but they don't sound that great except that they might be closer to the
MtGox bitcoin price than CampBX is. The thing that I walked away with from our convo is that other than that they suck donkey dick.
Held sell orders - long waits to sell coins - long waits for checks in mail and plenty of excuses.
Now they merged with Bit Instant so there r two ass hats now?
Prolly like two peas in a pod.
Glad I dont have to deal!!!
Oh yea - he told me about some other guys that were out 6 grand for like 2 months - but thats on another forum
and i didn't actually read it, although I don't believe he has any reason to make something like that up.
There are other bitcoin vendors - i would say use them first!!
-
I was a big GetBitcoin fan for awhile but after a few really good experiences with BitInstant, my loyalties have changed. My last order was submitted at 10:00 a.m., over to Coinapult almost immediately after I sent the deposit invoice. Then, on to my personal wallet. Money was on SR in just a few hours from initial order. And incidentally the vendor, ShowWerks, had the package in the mail (Priority) right away. I think it was very close to 48 hours from making the cash deposit to product in hand. Couldn't do that with Get-Bitcoins.com. The quickest transaction to date in 30+ orders.
Just my experience.
-
Has anyone sent cash in the mail? Did you get your coins this way & about how long did it take?
-
Hi all,
Just wanted to throw in a good word for canadianbitcoins.com, they're the only guys I use these days (via Western Union transfer) - very helpful, very quick, and always have my coins within an hour or two of sending the money. They pick up once or twice a day I think (so you can time the money transfer to make sure you get your coins asap) and when you fill out the online form to buy they lock in the price shown for 3 hours. Rate is in Canadian dollars so do what you have to do to change that into your own currency! Be sure to use Western Union's money transfer calculator to see how much they'll actually pay out though, because W.U.'s exchange rates can differ from banks and online tools etc.
In short I've always been more than happy with their service, so figured I'd throw up here as an alternative to Get-Bitcoin, whom I've had nothing but trouble with.

Should probably make a new thread for this service, instead of posting it in a review thread of a completely different service from a different country.

Months earlier, I claim that this business was the best. I was wrong.
After depositing about $600, I did not receive my funds. They changed something. The best way to describe it is that they "outsource" the work, so I suppose they are brokers doing nothing.
After 24 hours, I started firing off polite emails. Three days later and pissed off, I revealed my profession and got serious and described the ramifications for breach of contract. Of course, the "CEO" from the outsource people wrote me, and I had coin within 30 minutes.
Disappointing because this was such an easy method that the fees never bothered me.
Oh yes, I did make an error, so they are not 100% culpable. Still, a fuck up of this magnitude will not receive my business.... scary, lol.

Should probably make a new thread for this service, instead of posting it in a review thread of a completely different service from a different country.
Hi awesome1126,
I posted about canadianbitcoins.com in this particular thread to let customers of the shambolic Get-Bitcoin operation know of a very good alternative for purchasing their coins:
In short I've always been more than happy with their service, so figured I'd throw [it] up here as an alternative to Get-Bitcoin, whom I've had nothing but trouble with.
It's the exact same service - a way to buy and sell Bitcoin - and the country it's located in is inconsequential. I'm an international customer of canadianbitcoins.com, and a previous unhappy customer of Get-Bitcoin (which I also wrote about much earlier in this thread) and know the headaches and stress that that particular company can cause, so wanted to provide another option for everyone else that may read the thread.
