I only know a little about IT but when I was replacing the hard drive on my friend's Macbook last year I got to take a look at the bare bones of the device and I'm still not sure what exactly it is that people are getting for their money when there are x86 laptops with similar specs selling for less half the price?I suppose the advantage of Apple's insistence on having a monopoly on the OS and applications are that they can be better attuned to work with their own hardware but I still fail to see what I'm getting for my money - I have been running Ubuntu on one laptop and had access to a couple of Macbooks for the past five years now and my only observation is that recording videos on Macbooks is slightly easier! Is there something I'm missing? Please enlighten me and others who don't know!V.yes V you are missing that Cheese with ubuntu when you have installed all the video plugins there are to find, will allow you to record video just as well as a macbook :) plus all of that software is freeCheese is cool. So is Desktop Recorder, especially if you're recording demos or tutorials or something like that. GuruThanks for the tips guys - Cheese never really got along with my camera but I found that WxCam works after a fashion. In any case even if you don't have exactly the right driver for your flavour of Linux if you're that cut up about it, it would still be cheaper to get a regular laptop and buy a video camera as far as I can see! :-)V.
