I'm feeling the pull again. However....fuck buying drugs of them nextman....no need. ;)We will have to see what happens and where I end up. Have been thinking about the Caribbean as well. You can live like a king there.Well further to our previous discussions I am inclined to agree with you - imagine being in an offshore location like the Caymans/Bahamas? Excellent weather, low cost of living, easily bribed Police and Customs Officials and most importantly your pick of the offshore banks to assist your clients in salting away their hard won gains!I have been thinking about this quite seriously as I think an offshore BTC exchange would be in everyone's interests - yours especially, might be something to consider if you move out there :-)V.Ahh Vlad when you say the words "easily bribed police and customs" you do make me go weak at the knees. :PI actually set aside some time to develop a business model for an offshore digital currency exchange while I did that business plan on how to launder a million quids worth of BTC as a separate exorcise and it's actually very feasible to do but the money you would need as a start up isn't short change. I then linked both of the plans together and worked out I could make the BTC-Sterling exchange rate rise by around 1 in 10 weeks if I did it in a particular way (by staging a run on the exchanges). Did tickle my fancy I have to say. Also the business model for an offshore exchange easily showed that by capitalising on the extra privacy, deregulated monetary systems and the other perks of working offshore you could put Sang out of business pretty rapidly. Gox would take a bit longer but I believe that it would not be impossible to supplant them as the No. 1 exchange, in fact if you did it correctly it's quite feasible. It seems great minds think alike Lim, I've been thinking about this a lot during the last week... the advantage of course would be that vendors could withdraw coins directly to an offshore bank account without any danger of the exchange revealing that information to LEO. In fact my understanding is that in certain territories like the Caymans there is actual legal provision to state that the government is not entitled to see the financial records of a bank so in the absence of a court order I think the vendors would be much better off. Another advantage of course is that you can open bank accounts denominated in all major currencies USD, GBP, EUR, CHF and so on so as you say you could contend with Intersango very easily. Of course there is the issue of extra processing times and wire transfer fees but I don't see any reason the exchange couldn't have a business account in the US/UK/EU as well to make such payments. The issue of initial capital is a worry but if you did go ahead with this I'd suggest you actually start selling off stock for it on GLBSE - it's in every vendors interest for an exchange like this to exist. Moreover, as you say the very creation of the exchange itself could trigger a run on the existing exchanges as happened when BTC China launched which could drive up the price of the Bitcoin - the beauty of that of course is only you would know when the exchange would launch so you could make a King's ransom through this alone!Another suggestion might be to offer a "cash out" option, which would be easy to set up and implement if you were actually living in this location where the proceeds from the sale of the BTC are transferred to the exchange's own bank account and then withdrawn as cash over the counter to be sent to the mailing address of the vendor's choice by registered mail - perhaps this would be impractical for very large amounts though? In the department where I work many clients still use banker's drafts which are nearly as anonymous. If you do decide to go ahead, please do let me know if there's anything I can do to help, even if it's only convincing vendors of the necessity for such an exchange! All the best,V.
