Title: Refund consent
Post by: Jhdrgdzw on April 17, 2012, 10:29 pm
i would like to see buyer consent to refunds incorporated into the SR transaction model. At least two of the refunds, this last one for .70 cents, were handed over without my consent by two idiots who didn't bother to talk to me about it before hand.  >:(

Additionally, I would like SR to provide a way to reverse these refunds.

cheers

Maybe you should confirm with vendor before placing order that way he knows that you are about to place an order with him or her...

That is does not circumvent the issue czxtvr. They were marked in transit, so therefore the seller had apparently already shipped.

The issue is there should be consent as to whether I want to money back at cost of an increase to my refund %.

This is more an issue with the vendor than it is with SR... I have had to cancel two transactions so far and both times I msg'd the Buyer first to see if I could sub an item so I did not have to cancel the order and have them lose BTC for no reason.

With that said other Vendors who receive far more orders than me per day may not have the time to msg each buyer when product quantity is lower than what was ordered so they may just go ahead and cancel. Personally I feel cancelling before speaking to the Buyer is BS but I can not speak for my fellow vendors...

I do however encourage buyers to msg the vendor BEFORE placing the order to see if quantity is available. I know this is pain in the rear but I would have no problem answering this question from a potential buyer. I obviously cannot speak for the other vendors but if a vendor is anti-msging then you may want to look for a new vendor... just my opinion.

Thanks!!
TJ

I have to disagree, SR could help by adding something into the controls. Talking to the vendor before hand only works to give you an impression of what they're all about, but not much else.  What your saying makes sense to me that a high volume of cheap orders makes it tempting to just click refund if the order has become open to resolutions, and although I am going to take precautions and be more careful about who and what I buy from in the future, i hope SR can offer a real solution to this.

Another suggestion I have, which would be better than nothing, would be to have A total Bitcoin refund rate as well, so the buyer profiles will produce a more detailed and informative delineation of buyer history. I have already written about this, but i think its really important so here it is again...

Moderator: Feel free to move this to the SR suggestions thread. I had originally tried to post this there but i kept getting the message it had already been posted, which was not actually the case.

I'm not certain but I believe that the refund rate is calculated as the 100%*(Bitcoins refunded/Total Bitcoins Spent). An example, lets say you bought 96BTC worth of stuff. You then tried to buy 4BTC worth of stuff but had it completely refunded. Your refund rate would now be 100%*(4/100) = 4%.

Since your total BTC spent statistic is visible to the vendor as is your refund rate, it's 15 seconds worth of work to figure out how many bitcoins you were refunded

MagicMan It's possible you are right and I am mistaken about something. What I don't understand is, why is it that after only a .70 BT cents refund, my 3.something % refund shot up to 4.86%. 0.70 is  less than 0.3 % of 215 BT.

Would a mod please explain how this figure is calculated?
