i made a btc deposit, 100 btc, then ordered something and exactly 3 hours later, my order got canceled. my refund was less than the original amount sent.
i now have less than what i had but still have not purchased anything. i try this time a different vendor and the exact same story happens.
i now have less btc... try a third vendor.. same story.. 3 canceled orders in a row
by now my balance is so low that i can no longer buy what i wanted to.
my question is.. did the 3 vendors made some btc by canceling my orders'' or did the silk road admin keep the btc''
i remind you that i still have not purchased anything. it looks like i will not be able.

SR Fees

I feel your pain and I don't think SR should profit off cancelled orders... especially right after they are made...
I would HIGHLY suggest you msg the vendor from now on and get pre-approval before putting the order in... yes they should not have it listed if it isn't in stock but you said you were spending 100 btc which is not chump change and that amount may be more than what they have...
Just a suggestion...hope you get some relief.

I would look into why your orders are being cancelled. That seems to be the main issue.
Sorry for your lost funds, but unfortunately, that's part of all of it. I never try to spend any money that I can't afford to lose as a general rule.

I concur that SR shouldn't charge fees on cancelled orders. Isn't the point of the SR fee a "reward" for facilitating the transaction? Then when no transaction happened, there shouldn't be a fee.

Did you use PGP for your mailing address?
Are you using a fake or abbreviated name?
Have you been refunded by any sellers yet?

Try messaging a respected vendor before placing your order. Communicate. See if they have any special requirements, follow their directions, and save yourself the Road commissions on canceled orders.

How much less is it as it could also be due to hedging as well

Maybe you should start out with some smaller buys first? It could unnerve some sellers because you want to buy a large quantity of something straight away and have no buying history. They could be worried they may get scammed or something? Just a thought.

This might help explain some things, friend:

regardless, SR should never take any btc for a cancelled order within say 24hours of placement.
that's just daylight robbery.
Yeah not arguing with you there mate, I'm just speculating why they could have cancelled.
-
Just to echo some of the advice above, start with small orders. As your buyer rep/feedback improves then move up to larger ones. Vendors will be most reluctant to do large orders with brand new buyers in general.

It seems a little suspect to me that you didnt communicate with a seller before placing such a big order....
Is it because your agency gave you x amount of dollars for an investigation and you now have to justify that expense that you ask?????

Oooooo you went there.....

if your not LE good, then you could try and ask a seller to do a custom listing for you for the amount you do have. If its close enough they might be able to help you with a custom listing. I wouldnt count on them filling it this time either though....

i feel you mate, i wasnt having a go.. maybe i could have phrased my sentence a little better..
as you said, no history, bad refund rate, not enough stock etc..... all valid reasons to cancel order.. and could have been avoided had there been pre order communication..
i just think it fair that there should be a grace period on cancelled orders.. such as if an order is cancelled anywhere upto the 24-48 hour mark SR takes no cut, thereafter its fair game.
/my two cents
No worries G! :) And yeah I do agree with you about the grace period thing. Three sellers cancelling in a row does strike me as odd though... maybe the the OP didn't wash under his armpits that morning or something.... :S

could well be to do with escrow hedging ... The price of bitcoin may have dropped ... I always chek mt gox see the graph ... I had so many btc I paid about 3$ per btc the price went up to nearly 5$ meaning I gain like 100+ $$ if the price per btc went down I would of lost $100+
