Off Topic / Re: How to pay off a debt with Silk Road
« on: December 07, 2013, 05:16:28 am »
Thanks for the responses.

I was going to ask, are people doing well off from buying and reselling all within Silk Road?  I would imagine your profit margin would be pretty small.

Say you had $1000 in capital.  How might you start the process to build up?

I do not vend but I would say $1000 is on the small side to become a vendor, DPR is going to higher the bond so you can expect to lose $300 - $400 already for a while until you get it back. Then you have to buy your product and buy shipping material such as a label printer, then you have to worry about Bitcoin price fluctuations which could damage your profit hugely if you're only start with small sales.

If you're just storing Bitcoin & Litecoin for long term then you should just create two paper wallets, one for Bitcoin and one for Litecoin. You can create them while disconnected from the internet and then you just send the coins to the address on the wallet and when you want to spend them you import the private key into Bitcoin-QT or Litecoin-QT. Also some online wallets allow you to import private keys.

You can create paper wallets at the following websites,

*CLEARNET WARNING*

www.BitAddress.org (Bitcoin Wallet)
www.LiteAddress.org (Litecoin Wallet)

Remember before you hit "Generate" on the website disconnected from the internet to make the wallet offline. This is then considered cold storage.

waiting on an order from buttonwood.  but it looks like usps has my package slightly delayed.

Everyone seems to be having a problem with delays in receiving their products, It shouldn't be nothing to worry about just due to the extra workload they have.

Newbie Discussion / Newbie Movie Thread!
« on: December 07, 2013, 02:58:10 am »
Since most of the newbie section is just being flooded with spam, I decided to make some threads where people are able to actually participate in and actually get involved instead of spamming.

So, has anyone watched a good movie recently?

I'll start, I watched "Blow" recently and I have to say it was a interesting movie and I was pretty hooked from start to end. It's about a man who moves to California if I remember and starts by selling weed and then moves up to become one of USA's largest supplier of cocaine. Once he is on top, things start to go wrong. I will not spoil it if anyone wants to watch it, but it's for sure one you need to watch.

I'll rate it 8.5/10

How about you?

I'm glad your experiences here at Silk Road are positive, there has been quite a bit of drama over the past few months with all the problems some of the markets are having. Hopefully the dust has settled down and things start running smooth, only time will tell.

Newbie Discussion / Re: Any tips on dealing in London?
« on: December 07, 2013, 02:48:53 am »
I remember reading somewhere that United Kingdom, London is one of the most watched places in the world. At any one time there is around 15 cameras watching you, I wouldn't advise it. But you're a adult, you can make the choices with what you do.

Newbie Discussion / Re: Order Tracking shows as delivered, but not to me?
« on: December 07, 2013, 12:31:33 am »
Note that this could also be a possible scam. The vendor sends a package, obviously not containing the drugs, to a random address near you and gives you the tracking number. The vendor can then claim the package was delivered because tracking says so. I am not saying this is the case, but it something to keep in mind in try to rule out. Does the tracking documentation show your exact address? Is this a trusted vendor with good feedback?

(Disclaimer: I have no experience with tracking, but I have read about this scam on the forums. I am not accusing anybody and the word scam is used in vain way to often on this forum, but I thought it could be helpful information)

Wow thanks for the info on that scam. Thats pretty low! I spoke too soon! I went out to grab a bite to eat, when I returned home it was there waiting for me. Glad to see people are not scumbags and won't open my shit.

Glad everything worked out, events like this can make you paranoid!

I checked the tracking for my package and it said it was delivered today in my area. The delivery time is about the time my postal carrier comes. Yet, no package in my box or at my door. Any ideas what to do in this circumstance? Think one of the neighbors got it? Do I sit and hope that whoever got it brings it to me or is it gone for good? This is the first package that never showed.

The postal worker may have accidentally marked it as delivered and then put it in the wrong mailbox. It depends if the person who received the package hands it over to you. That's what I believe may have happened, I sometimes get other peoples mail who live a few houses down.

You're overreacting a little, it's the run up to Christmas. There is going to be a huge increase in the amount of mail hence the delay.

Some people have been having to completely close their TBB then wait a few minutes...then open the TBB again and it seems that when they do this their coins are back....however...from what bobhuggins says...it would have appeared as though they have used the same log in credentials elsewhere, as they have for the main site here ....at one point or another......

Just my opinion  :-\

I agree, doesn't seem like the other cases of missing coins. They normally come back within a few minutes.

No I copy the link from wikipedia.org.  why am I at fault?  where does dread roberts 2.0 and his pals get off talking about comradery and what not and then they leave you hanging when they laugh all the way to the bank along with the hacker.

Wikipedia links can edited, the most secure way to access the market is come over to the forum first and then scroll down to the bottom and access the market via the link.

It's not DPR's fault that you input your account details into a phisher site, can you tell me the URL on the Wikipedia.org page which you used.

No I enter through the wikipedia url, no links though... What has been the resolution in the past? Am I fucked?

What do you mean "Wikipedia URL", so do you go to the Hidden Wiki and then access Silk Road?

Also, it is possible you may have used the same details on other sites such as Sheep therefore your account was compromised that way.

If your account was hacked then there is nothing Silk Road can do to refund you.
