I've just got back from an emergency board meeting and it was unanimously decided that the entire R&D team from the 5th, 6th and even 7th floor are diverting all their attention to this now, it is as you say a TOP priority and thank god you picked up on it in time.

Nobody knows anything they didn't know in the first week after the Ulbricht arrest. That definitely includes me, but I'm not going to let that stop me from saying it again:
I find the fact that all the TLA's left the old forum up very concerning. I just don't buy the idea that they had no interest in it.
Logically, the only reasons they'd have for leaving it alone are:
1. They couldn't find it. They could find the SR servers, and bitcoin wallets containing millions of dollars, scattered across the globe, but not the forum.
2. They couldn't get approval to seize it. i.e. it's unrelated to the SR marketplace. I kinda doubt that, since I think under the broad scope of conspiracy charges, they can include damned near anything. Just the Support forum alone probably gave them enough excuse to grab it.
3. They left it up on purpose. To watch everything that unfolded after Ulbricht's arrest. Watching PMs, watching people trying to figure out where to land, possibly trying to influence those decisions.
If you buy scenario #3, which I think is *by far* the most likely, it just heads you down a weird path. You have old SRF users and moderators logging and and using the forum, which is possibly sitting in a federal datacenter. Half of the hops in a connection to a hidden service are selected by the hidden service, so in any scenario where you're connecting to an adversary-operated hidden service, you're effectively You->Tor EntryGuard/Bridge->MiddleHop->Adversary. It's probably a safe assumption that the majority of SRF users and moderators view US LE agencies as adversaries.
I just have a really hard time imagining any scenario where the forum wasn't seized under a sealed order and operated by LE entities from Ulbricht's arrest onward. Which leads to the question, "What's the benefit they get from leaving it up?"
grugq posted on his Twitter this week a few choice statements about Silk Road Forums being ran by DEA, not specifying whether he was talking about the old one or new one. DPR (here) posted a response guessing "FBI", but I think that joke fell a little flat.
Who the fuck knows, at this point?
The good news for long term posterity is.. StExo posted a somewhat-scrubbed but mostly-complete archive of the entire forum on anonfiles, so if you want to take the time to download the ZIP file, you'll have almost the entire public forum. It's a fantastic collection of knowledge that you probably won't find in one place elsewhere.
This is why no one should be going on there and def not logging in, it must be considered totally compromised and to consider anything less is just really bad opsec.
