As many of you will already know phishing scams often target Silk Road which is why you must always ensure you are using the correct URL and not a phishing link to access SR.
The correct URL is http://silkroad6ownowfk.onion/
Never EVER trust the links posted on the hidden wiki, this is one of the most common places for the phishers to propagate their fake URLS.
The official Silk Road landing page will never ask for your PIN # at log on, if you find yourself being asked then you are on a phishing site.
Treat all posted URL's on the forums as potentially suspicious, do not take anything for granted.
Enable two-factor authentication using your PGP key.

I had the same issue previously, whonix is so simple to install, just follow the whonix wiki guide, had no issues at all.
