Shipping / Re: Printed labels vs Handwritten
« on: November 18, 2013, 05:56:50 am »
Printed labels that meet the right specifications i.e. font, spacing, format etc are much more likely to be sorting using technology that reads addresses electronically which is preferable because you want your order to receive as little attention as possible whereas hand written labels often require manual sorting.

Printed is therefore considered preferable.

No promises ok though ChemCat ;)

Customer Support / CUSTOMER SUPPORT FAQ - PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING
« on: November 18, 2013, 03:10:49 am »
This thread will be updated over time.

Two-factor authentication (TFA)
When registering an account on the market site please ensure you include your PGP public key and activate the two-factor authentication as this will not only protect you against phishing it will also ensure you can validate yourself as the account owner should you be required to do so.

At this point in time SR admins are unable to verify accounts via any other means, please ensure you use your PGP key in conjunction with your account.

Please note: the two-factor authentication is NOT idiot-proof (not yet, anyway).

1)  Paste the wrong public key into there, and you will be locked out of your account. There is no confirmation screen where someone can confirm they used the right key.

2) Keys generated by Kleopatra won't work, as they have NO encryption sub-key.  Keys without an encryption sub-key will give an error.

Market Site Pass Phrase Reset
If you need to reset your market site pass phrase then you will need to contact Silk Road Support via the market site. To do this you will need to register a new temp account and click on where it says SUPPORT in the bottom right hand corner of the home page.

Here is the link: http://silkroad6ownowfk.onion/users/support/message

Forum Password Resets:-

If you forget your forum password or you are no longer able to log into your account for some reason you will need to register a new temporary account and send a PGP signed message to a moderator requesting a password reset.

Therefore please make sure that you include your PGP public key in your forum profile because without it, it may not be possible to verify you as the rightful owner of the account you have lost access too.

Requesting Vendor Verification:-

Sarge and inigo are taking care of all former vendor account verifications, they can be contacted here:

Inigo (http://silkroad5v7dywlc.onion/index.php?action=profile;u=2323)
Sarge (http://silkroad5v7dywlc.onion/index.php?action=profile;u=208)

There is a specific process that needs to be followed to enable your verification, detailed instructions can be found at this link:

http://silkroad5v7dywlc.onion/index.php?topic=271.msg3002#msg3002

Becoming a vendor on Silk Road:-

At this point in time all vendor account verifications for new vendors are being personally handled by Sarge. Please contact Sarge via their Thread here: http://silkroad5v7dywlc.onion/index.php?topic=9108.0 to arrange payment of the bond at which time your account will be upgraded.

If You are currently a vendor on SR, You can get your  forum name updated with a Vendor tag & access to the Vendors RoundTable
After you have $1,500 in sales, with at least 30 Transactions and have been a Vendor for at least 6 weeks.

Delays with bitcoin deposits and withdrawals:-

This issue can happen from time to time, deposits and/or withdrawals become delayed and when this happens the community can become highly anxious.

The first thing you need to do before anything else is check the transaction via the block chain at this address:

[Clearnet Warning]     https://blockchain.info/

If the transaction has received at least 6 confirmations and it has been over 8 hours since you initiated it then you should contact Silk Road admin support via the market site at this link:

http://silkroad6ownowfk.onion/users/support/message

Please be aware that you cannot get support for depot and withdrawal related issues via the forums as forum moderators have no administrator privileges on the market site.

If You're Missing Bitcoins

If you are missing Bitcoins and If your account hasn't been compromised then the coins are still there, just click the "Search for new deposits"  button, and the balance should fix itself. You can also close the TBB and that should correct the problem.
If this does not resolve the issue you will need to contact SR support on the market site page.   To do this you will need to click on the

GREEN SUPPORT BUTTON where it says SUPPORT in the bottom right hand corner of the home page.
Then WAIT, 24 hours  for a Response.

Here is the link: http://silkroad6ownowfk.onion/users/support/message

Why can't I post in all areas of the forums?

There is a 50 post rule that restricts all forum accounts to posting either in the newbie section and here in customer support until you have made 50 posts. This rule was introduced to help combat spam and will not be changing.

Customer Support / Re: UNFAIR BTC RATE
« on: November 17, 2013, 08:24:33 pm »
I'm with BTCKing. Why can't it be the same as most mainstream places? In other words, most everywhere else. One way its bad for customers, the other, its bad for vendors. BMR's comission is already an issue because its 4% and people are not going to come back here and pay double commission (on smaller orders) plus overly inflated or deflated btc prices.

Sorry, I disagree...If the other sites can have BTC rates the same as Bitstamp and at present time rate change, no delay, then why isn't SR's rate the same and fair?

I would also like a clear explanation. The btc rate is killing purchases, keep the commission but lulling the buyers lowers profit.

DPR has already provided an explanation here:

BTCKing - do not continue to spam my mailbox as doing so falls under the same rule as any other type of spamming and may result in a ban, I do not have the time to respond to your messages just because you disagree with something, it is getting ridiculous which is why I have ignored most of your mails because there are greater problems right now to deal with.

The idea that the price is unfair is totally ignoring the situation. We based our price on the volume of each market and give a weighted average between them so that each market price is represented according to their true size. We also must consider what is being stirred up as an outrage is quite simply not, the overwhelming majority of users will only purchase $50-$80 listings for personal use and given the difference is 1.5-2.3% the effect is negligible, considering it also sways in the opposite direction to favor buyers at times of stability.

At the current rates, when vendors cashout they also will lose some percentage of this. If I was to change the rate then vendors will compensate by changing their prices too, this fact has been largely ignored by most despite that I see these changes all the time not from a personal viewpoint but it reflects in the data which is how I draw conclusions.

In these volatile times, the rate will always be fluctuating heavily and we are doing our best to negate the impact it has of sudden spikes which occur, only yesterday the price decided to drop $40 then rise $60 - would it be fair on buyers if we then stuck with that dip precisely? No. We divide the potential for loss between vendor and buyer so any drastic changes can be reduced in a manner consistent with both sides. When the rates become more stable, I will take time to consider the rates again, but doing so in a volatile market is not wise as while you may be a bitcoin trader, I have responsibilities to both sides also on a much larger scale. When the price begins to collapse, buyers will have the advantage and often it is the case vendors will be the ones to lose out on a far larger scale so the trick works in both ways.

Customer Support / Re: Reset PIN
« on: November 17, 2013, 08:22:03 pm »
Bump!

Should I just create a support ticket for this issue?

PIN# resets will become an automated feature integrated into the system soon however at this point in time you will need to contact an admin (Libertas/DPR) to request a reset so yes create a support ticket.

Off Topic / Re: IS THERE ANYY WAY TO GET MY OLD BITCOINS BACK FROM SR 1.0??
« on: November 17, 2013, 07:15:59 pm »
Maybe since a mod moved this thread there may be some glimmer of hope we see those coins again but a glimmer isn't much of a hope.

And I am horrible with using these old sayings that nobody knows of anymore. Opsec. :)

I am not sure how you made a link between the moving of this thread and the possibility of getting your coins back? hope springs eternal I guess.

They are gone and no one will be getting their coins back, that is the harsh reality I am afraid.

There are still more upgrades to come for the messaging system, the rudimentary aspects of it should be working now but as others have pointed out there are still some features missing.
