I don't think it's FUD, their opinion, or whining.. sounds like people are getting their money tied up for weeks. That is a legitimate concern.

DanDan, how can this sentence not be called FUD: "My opinion is that SR is poor ass broke and needs to scam us in order for them to pay their operational costs." ?

TBD

I would say that takes FUD into a whole new category, like URASFUD.

I'll let you speculate on what the 'URAS' stands for.

Was trying to delete my inbox/sent items to be safe but when I go to sent messages nothing shows. Is this normal? Do they delete when sent? I'm confused.

Thanks <.<

You do not have save sent messages option selected. But to answer your question, if the recipient and the sender both delete the message it is not stored anywhere else on the server so it is permanently deleted.

yea you can man, check it out

Do they have some issue with safemail? The confirmation emails for a new account they send me are empty.

No, there are no issues with Safe-mail.net email accounts.  On another note, below is a list of some of the best free / paid Tor email hidden services if anyone is interested/looking.

Always remember that you will not have a clue about who the Administrators really are or who is actually hosting the site. Trust NOBODY.  IMO, email messages should always be ENCRYPTED using your own private encryption keys.

1. MailTor (https://mailtoralnhyol5v.onion/): Free anonymous email service with webmail or email client access. Messages are stored encrypted and your computer IP header hidden when sending email. The signing up process is simple, choose a username a password, enter the captcha and your new @mailtor.net email address will be created for you.

2. USSRMail (http://f3ljvgyyujmnfhvi.onion/): Email service accessible via webmail, POP3 and IMAP. The project is run by the same people managing a Brazilian Tor only image board called BananaRussia. There is a contact form on their page but no other information about what their plans are.

3. Lelantos (http://lelantoss7bcnwbv.onion/): Paid anonymous Tor based email account. You can read and write webmail without enabling JavaScript in your browser and configure your email client to retrieve messages via IMAP, sending it with SMTP. Payments via Bitcoin only.

4. OnionMail (https://iir4yomndw2dec7x.onion): Paid for email service priced in Bitcoins. OnionMail has a RoundCube panel accessible from clearnet with a Squirrelmail interface planned for the future. Manual registrations only at the moment.

5. Austici: Italian based collective fighting what they call fascism, racism, militarism and sexism. They manage Tor hidden services that include anonymous email and IRC chat. Accounts are only granted to those sharing their political ideas

6. RiseUp: Their hidden tor services include a shell account, XMPP server and an email account, accessible in the clearnet as well as their Tor hidden service. RiseUp is a USA based privacy provider for left leaning political activists. Accounts are only given with two referrals from two different RiseUp account holders or if you are part of a political group sharing their aims.

7. TorBox (https://torbox3uiot6wchz.onion): There is no connection in between TorBox and the clearnet, this is a Tor only email service allowing people to communicate with other TorBox users, you can’t send messages to Yahoo or Gmail. The recepient will have to hold a TorBox email address too.

8. VFEMail (https://344c6kbnjnljjzlz.onion): A long standing free and paid for clearnet email provider that has recently added a hidden Tor service to sign up and access email accounts. The company privacy policy states that in Bronze accounts no IDs are needed for an account and money can be sent in the post with a money order. VFEMail hides your computer IP in the headers and can be easily encrypted using their integrated webmail PGP addon.

Impressive first post TJP +1

dude i have been trying to get my head around this PGP and you just explained the lot to me in 20 seconds of reading...thanks very much time for some purchases  8) 8) so i message the vendor on the marketplace or through the forum?

Firstly welcome owenroe

Second please spend some time and by that I mean at least a week or so researching how to navigate this place safely. I can strongly recommend reading all the threads in the security section of these forums on how to get bitcoins and how to use encryption, PGP is your master from here on in.

It will take you some time but please do not rush, many make foolish mistakes when first getting started on the deep web, it is best to take things slowly an educate yourself to avoid making unnecessary risky mistakes you might regret later.

All the functionality everyone is asking for is coming and coming soon. DPR and the dev team are working flat out getting the site sorted out, if they were to answer all the hundreds of messages and posts/threads on here that is all that would get done. I know some people are getting fed up of being told this but they just need to be patient and allow the dev team to get on with their work a little while longer.

We are getting there!

Hey I am not pushing here or anything, I really appreciate the work that is being done. I was just curious ;)

I know and your OP was well intentioned, thank you.

Sure it's been mentioned somewhere so no need to reply Synergy, but does anyone know if they're planning on implementing a favourite list to allow bookmarking vendors on your profile?

It's coming moksha, soon.

Essential feature I know.

I bet DPR showed OzFreelancer his dick. If I was DPR I'd send people pictures of my penis in a pirate costume.

Would be a small costume though right?

She thinks she's edgy and doing some front line investigative journalism. Fact of the matter is all she did was download some software and enter a link. The e-begging kills me as well. Having a link to her bitcoin address asking for donations is bullshit. The shit she reports on is known by the majority of us before she's even published the article. And we're meant to donate money to her for giving us all these "revelations". This site is meant to serve as platform to buy and sell drugs. That's why I'm here.  She's here because she wants to show off to her middle class friends the next time they're all sipping red wine.

QT9,

Eileen Ormsby (OzFreelancer) is a talented writer, a respected member of this community, and as far as I can tell, a genuinely nice person. I don't have any connection to her, nor do I "know" her in any real sense of the word; however, she is one of only a handful of members whose posts I make it a point to keep up with.

As for her work, it appears on her website (among other places), which is reputable and well-known, amongst both Clearnet squares and Deep Web weirdos. If you haven't been there yet, you should have a look.

http://allthingsvice.com/

As for "begging" ... well ... I take issue with that term. Unobtrusively posting a bitcoin address in order to accept voluntary donations hardly warrants the term that you chose; furthermore, posting one's BTC address for this very purpose is a widespread and accepted practice here on SR ... or haven't you noticed? For that matter, there are veteran members who will not even give the time of day to anyone outside of their inner circle unless they are first paid what amounts to a consultation fee.

And you know what? That's life in the big city (and part of any free market).

Obviously, not everyone shares your miserly and sullen demeanor, as several people have made donations to Eiley, which they were graciously and publicly thanked for.

It's also worth noting that her website is not monetized and she makes very little money from freelancing; instead, she supports herself churning out what I imagine to be two-dimensional text for an employer who probably has no concept of her talent. And while this is pure speculation on my part, I would venture to guess that her literary abilities are squandered at her day job.

A lot of journalists report on Silk Road without ever even attempting to get their facts straight, let alone do actual legwork such as immersing themselves in the community ... which she genuinely cares about and enjoys being a part of. Silk Road will always get a fair shake on AllThingsVice, not to mention accurate coverage, as it comes directly from the source and not off of an AP wire.

Do you want to know why those green blocks were bestowed upon her (which she never asked for, incidentally)?

Because she does good work and the owners/operators/staff of Silk Road recognize and respect that.

She writes about what she knows and loves--not for glory or money, as those things are hard to come by in the literary world. Writing is a hard dollar, yet very few people can do it with any degree of competency. Eiley conducts herself as a professional and turns out the copy to match; therefore, she is regarded as such. Technically speaking, (from what I know of her situation) she is a part-time freelancer (I would never use the term "amateur"); however, what I find ironic is that the actual "professionals" are fucking hacks in most cases and their work reflects that, especially when held up for comparison to that which appears on AllThingsVice. The worst part is that these lazy geeks (the pros) possess mediocre talent at best and are more-or-less devoid of ambition, empathy, pride ... really anything that might inspire them to shoot for anything but a C- and a steady paycheck.

When middle-class cogs in the machine take a break from humping the American Dream and flip through last month's NewsWeek, insured and seated comfortably at their dentist's office, there not for a toothache but just a whitening ... well ... that's when they read a half-assed hatchet job on Silk Road, about how it's nothing but a speakeasy for ignorant, surly drug addicts, murderous dope pushers, and a few con artists thrown in for good measure. They certainly never hear about the community that is comprised mostly of honest and helpful folks, SR's strict standards and code of ethics, or that there are a great many members who are far more interested in knowledge and exploration and the free flow of information than they are in scoring some pills from their mailman.

You, apparently, are here only for the drugs. And I guess that means NewsWeek got something right--namely that there are, in fact, ignorant and ill-tempered dope fiends stalking around SR who care only about themselves.

You, sir, are one of them.

And frankly, for my money, we could do with less of you and more members like OzFreelancer.

I suggest that you surf on over to http://silkroad5v7dywlc.onion/index.php?topic=3185.250 and familiarize yourself with the Silk Road Courier and its editor, Mr. Duke. I'm sure that he would be happy to educate you as to what constitutes quality journalism.

Savagely,

--Ed

Unfortunately without the means to verify you are the rightful owner there is nothing that can be done, this was the same on the previous market site much to the chagrin of those who were unable to satisfy the verification requirement.

I will find out if accounts will be deleted after a certain time frame, it was 3 months before if the accounts had a zero BTC balance.
