Shipping / Re: Shipping to unecrypted addresses from SR1
« on: December 11, 2013, 09:20:20 pm »
Any other success story's besides me and my drops I've gotten a few packs off sheep and I never encrypted on SR1 and had about 30 transactions....

So i dont believe addresses to be flagged.  Obviously I use PGP now but just curious as to how big of a risk I am taking.

Any other success storys

Addresses were only saved until an order was confirmed so after that there would be no record on the servers. This would mean only the addresses you sent from the time the servers were imaged to the time of the shut down would be potentially available to LE.

hi what does that mean?can i not contact him through here anymore?

That means they have been banned for saving addresses and openly threatening buyers on their profile page as discussed in this thread.

You should still be able to message the vendor via the market site.

An important factor many people seem to overlook is it's not just about the inherent risks of having all your coins stolen, it is about how secure your information is.

So hippy, last time you came in with this line it was about sheep. A week later they were hacked and gone.

What should we of the FBI draw from this latest foray?

Edgar I can assure you that I am no hippy.

Sheep was insecure, so is Tormarket, it looks pretty though doesn't it?

Say hi to Clyde for me.

The vast majority of people still do not use PGP

I no longer find this to be the case. While on SR1 most of my customers provided clear text address, on here %95 are encrypted.

Very pleased to hear that DrMDA, I wish more vendors were saying the same.

And I wont ship anything without a guaranteed payment and I don't have a guaranteed payment with escrow as we have seen time and time again in the last few months.  But you except every vendor to front their drugs with a hope of a marketplace not scamming them or not getting raided by the authorities?  Sorry, I lost almost THREE MILLION US dollars in BTC in TWO MONTHS by trusting Silk Road and Sheep that way and not requiring FE.

If you were the one losing millions of dollars every month then you would understand. ::)

Jack, I do not wish to appear insensitive because if I had lost what you did I would have been devastated but I having observed you posting regarding this over recent weeks I felt the need to point something out.

At the time the old SR was seized you claimed to have somewhere in the region of $250,000 to $300,000 worth of BTC in your SR wallet. I appreciate the value of those coins has now grown a lot however those were not escrowed funds, you left those funds in your SR online wallet in the hope of transferring them later so to continuously repeat escrow is what cost you millions of dollars is being rather disingenuous. You lost those coins because you left them in your SR online wallet which is something that is highly ill-advised.

It was about 60/40 in escrow and accounts.  I had 1200+ and 800+ on my accounts and in escrow.  I forget which was which.  DPR said the SR wallets were very safe and I wanted to make a large single withdraw.  I just needed to get that escrow out which would have taken no more than two weeks.

Even up until recently I've always had over $100,000 USD in escrow on BMR.  I always had over $100,000 USD in escrow on Sheep until it got close to the end and people stopped ordering.  I'm not losing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of BTC again due to these marketplaces.  The risk shouldn't be all on the hard working vendors like that.

DPR said a lot things, I think we are all a lot wiser now though.

And whilst I can totally see where you are coming from many buyers feel equally strongly that escrow is needed, you may have built trust with your customers but we have seen trusted vendors turn rogue many many times.

It's definitely a hot topic of discussion right now and it will be interesting to see how things pan out over the coming months.

Listen man, I am a firm believer once you start to let your guard down, shit hits the fan. This not only goes for LE, but to trusting others too. When we break it down, there is only so much trust I can have with someone who types to me. Call me paranoid, but I feel like once I start feeling comfortable with a vendor, that's when I become most vulnerable.

It just seems like common sense to me.

I can only afford to lose so many millions of dollars when these marketplaces scam me or get raided.  Three million US dollars is enough for me.  As I said, my customers are happy to FE. :)

At the supermarket or at walmart or anywhere else, would you guys purchase say a $500 TV without a receipt? Walmart has been around for a long time now, they are reputable. We even know where walmart lives, all the info to there stores and everything. I wouldn't buy anything from them without a receipt that guarantees me the product for atleast a little while.

The vast majority of people still do not use PGP and it would now seem evident that we are seeing the Sheep database sold on the open market and those who had accounts there and then created accounts on other markets using the same credentials (yes people really do this) are now having those accounts compromised and their coins stolen.

So for those of you saying "what's the risk if we FE?" you haven't considered all the elements of the equation.

Customer Support / Re: PIN NUMBER
« on: December 11, 2013, 11:35:44 am »
SR support is experiencing longer than normal delays due to the DDoS.

If the account in question however has no btc in it then it might be quicker just to register a new account and start over making sure you store the credentials somewhere safely next time.
