I would like to make a purchase tonight i recently lost my health insurance and they cut me off my xanax prescription cold turkey so now i'm doomed to go through the hell that is withdrawal.
I've been doing a lot of research but i cant seem to find any sure fire easy way to get bitcoins fast and secure into my SR wallet, any help would be appreciated i'm pretty dumb when it comes to these kind of things.
I would like to attempt to make an order tonight if possible to try and get a handle on how things here work.
Any help is much appreciated.

Go to bitinstant.com select the money gram option>bitcoin address, fill out the info.
From there you have till 9pm before moneygram closes at your local location if you want them tonight.
That's it then you have coins in your account with the info you provided to bitinstant.

thanks man the help is appreciated, i got to the point where you choose a location to pay, theres a cvs like 2 minutes from where i live i can go to that's available, what do i do from there? They will accept the cash and that will become bit coins that deposit into the address i used from SR?

Yeah, if I remember correctly you fill out a form then you connect to moneygram using the red phone and that's it. Just ask them in CVS it's nothing suspicious...

is there another easy way i can do it all on the internet, even if it takes a little bit of time? I looked through several options on that website and its still all so confusing to me, im sorry for being so clueless, ive looked at a bunch of tutorials and i still cant figure this out.

With bitinstant-moneygram-btc address I can place an order within 2 hours. The only thing I don't like is the 3.99% fee and i don't know how many BTC will be in my wallet till they get there. Any 1 have advice for getting more BTC for $?

Not a good idea. You need to give cash for this transaction as it helps your safety. No bitcoin provider is going to let you use paypall, debit, or credit. I believe the closest to that was DWolla to MTGox and you could do it all online but there are so many security checks there now that it is risky business. There are a few MoneyPak vendors on here that you can take a shot with and you can get a MoneyPak card at most retail locations
Other than that I always use Bitinstant. Sorry, but getting BTC isn't a instant thing, despite the name Bitinstant. Even after you make the deposit there you are still going to have to wait a few hours for confirmations to the right addresses, so on and so forth.
-
The option I told you is going to be the easiest and best way. You can try #bitcoin-otc and see if someone will trade with you through paypal but that's kinda a pain in the ass, plus you could get scammed a lot easier.
-
BitCoin King is fast.
-
I scoured for hours looking for ways to do this. bitlocal.com if you are lucky there is a dealer in your area. otherwise bitinstant is coming to be quickest/most reliable way. don't fall for people offering over paypal, lotsa scammers.
-
I used bitinstant bank>sr and it took about an hour until I had bitcoin in my wallet.

Great advise . Bi to Btc works best in my opinion

Does this only work in the US ? (Bitinstant) Anyone got alternatives for EU?
-
this is a great thread i am learning so much. Trying to figure the bitcoin thing out is kind of difficult for non-techies. I hope this thread continues.

What fees are there with this option? The fee that bitinstant charges...what about moneygram? Do they charge a flat rate or a percentage?
-
I go to the SR money section and either use BTCKing or BTCMaster, BTCMaster is quite a bit cheaper he only charges a dollar per coin and it's very anonymous, all your doing is putting cash into somebody elses account, they dont need your name or anything. Every time I've gone through either of them my coins are in my SR account within an hour or hour and a half at the most.

I was having trouble figuring out how to buy bits too. Here is what I did. I went to Walmart and bought a Moneypak (Fee $5.00). I then went to the money section of Silk Road and clicked on Sugar Mama's vendor page and followed the instructions. Withing 12 hours I had my bits. I have no idea what I'm doing either but it was easy. Sugar Mama has her fees on her page so it's transparent.

Is it just me or has BitInstant removed the option to pay directly to a private wallet address? Is it safe/possible to pay to my Mt. Gox account and then transfer to my wallet from there, then to SR from there?

It seems like the Bitinstant>MtGox option is giving lots of people errors right now, so even that isn't currently an option..
-
yea bitistant took off the option to send to a bitcoin address... they are basically making you go through 3rd parties ???
-
Yeah, I noticed this. I'm about to buy some coins and now i'm not sure what I should do. How does the transfer to Mtgox work? cash -> Mtgox(USD) -> Buy Bitcoin via Mtgox -> SR address???? The less fee's I need to pay and the less hands that touch the exchange, the better. I'm kinda confused on this.
-
this to seems very confusing to me as im new. My advice (im doing soon) just buy from a trusted vendor on here fastest way i think

They took off the option of going direct to transfer directly to a bitcoin address on friday, but the option for Mt.Gox is still there, but doesn't seem to work properly..
The only other option i haven't tried is Btc.e, but i think i'll wait til someone else tries that before i do...

I sell btc with no fee's what so ever. And it takes less then 60 min for you to have btc in your SR account.
You must purchase an amount over $500.00
Go to my listings for more information.

I did the cash via ZipZap @ Walmart -> MtGox -> InstaWallet -> SR today. Hasn't confirmed @ SR yet, but blockchain shows in progress. The ZipZap, MtGox, InstaWallet part took < 1 hour.
-
Is there an advantage going through all the crap with MtGox, rather than just using a BTC vendor? To me it's worth the dollar per BTC for how fast and easy it is.
-
the bitcoin exchangers on SR are notorious for scamming people
once you give them the MP code their is no protection like escrow to ensure you get the coins
there are a few vendors who seem reliable currently
but the problem is even the reliable vendors can go rogue and run away with peoples money (has happened numerous times in the past, look up sumyungai)
recommend (worked even with the recent changes):
bitinstant > mtgox > instawallet > instawallet (only accessed through tor) > SR

Also keep in mind the easiest time for a vendor to scam is when they get an influx of new customers... in this case when BitCoin buyers are running to find a new source for BitCoins. Buyer beware!

I have a new exchange account!
Check my signature!

Just got an email back from bitinstant. They said the cash deposit --> bitcoin address will be back in a week or so.
I wonder if the recent problems have been due to the storm. I think they're located in NY.
-
I've never had a problem with going from Bitinstant to coinapult which is the BTC to email option and sent to a tormail account...
