Title: Moneypak to Bitcoin Troubles
Post by: freddieisdead on October 30, 2011, 06:06 am
I purchased a moneypak for the first time the other day under the assumption that it would be an easy process from there to obtain BTC. However it seems that BTC Buddy, Borneo, and SumYunGai are all having difficulties of their own right now and I can't find a reliable off-site exchanger who is currently offering to exchange bitcoins for moneypaks. Obviously I understand the need to be flexible when it comes to the deep web but could anybody point me in the right direction of a legitimate seller of bitcoins who takes moneypak at the moment or an off-site party that would do the same? All help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Same here. I'm trying to get bitcoins but all three of the reputable SR dealers are all having some sort of trouble and from reading forum posts, all of those other sites like Mt.Gox are unreliable.

If anybody else is in this same situation, the solution is definitely bitcoin-otc. I spent the last 4 days trying to contact the SR exchangers and searching all over for off-site exchange services but after spending the time to figure out bitcoin-otc with the help of a couple awesome people over there, I was able to exchange my moneypak in about an hour  8)

becareful on otc bitcoin trades the guy there named isaguy ripped me off for $450.

Then when I started complaining he asked the channel mod 2 ban me, which he did.

The OTC bit coin guys are scammers.

A few of them just trade with each other then they claim 2 be trusted so that way when some1 from out of the circle comes they can rip them off like they ripped me off.

Hi,

If you're willing to go with a new vendor, I exchange moneypak for bitcoins. I am just about out of coins at the moment but I should have more coming in later tonight or tomorrow. Not to steal his spotlight but Phubaiblues, staunch consumer advocate and anti-scammer warrior would warn you not to go with an untrusted vendor. He is right. He will not and should not let me off the hook while I remain unvetted. Without any vetting you basically have nothing other than my word, so it's a gamble where you risk all the money you send. It would not be smart to risk money you aren't willing to lose. There have been scammers. The scammers capitalize on people that want to exchange MP for coin but have no luck with the trusted vendor. If there were ten trusted vendors I don't think the scammers would be able to pick up much business. I hope to help in that regard. If you are willing or crazy enough to give me a shot I appreciate it and I'll do right by you. If you are worried I suggest you wait, keep an eye on my review thread, and a trusted member will eventually buy from me.

If you do buy from me one thing I can tell you is you'll know that you're not being scammed within minutes of the money leaving your account. I transfer your coins immediately after cashing your moneypack. I won't cash it unless I am ready to transfer your coins. I am responsive, communicative and fast. My buyers would tell you so, I wish they weren't newbies so they could tell you so without your assuming it's me in disguise.

Whatever you do, stay safe out there!

Ok, folks, most of you have here know me Charlines G. I have been on SR for maybe 5 months, and have maybe 40 tranacts, and good buyer stats (20% refund rate, but I did not ask for those refunds, the vendors canceled and refunded), 0 auto final, etc.
I am a good customer of the vendors on SR! I am putting out 250 to the "Sugar Mama" for a test. But whether Mama makes a good trade or steals, there is still an issue here on SR: - we need alternatives to the major BTC exchange sites.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE: Mama came through as I was posting this, she just changed my $250.00 Moneypak - it took minutes.

Here is how it went down for me - (please note that Moneypak transfers and exchanges are still risky even when the exchanger has 10000 successful transactions - its just risky.)

Last night, I needed to get some deals going for me and a few close members of my chronic pain support group - so I initiated a Mt. Gox transfer from bank dwolla - you know the long chain. And then I sent inquiries to the usual Moneypak changers, Borneo, SYG, etc, I checked the boards and saw Mama - so, I gave a it try after messaging her last night, she replied overnight, and when I got back from errands today, I saw her message here.

I encrypted the MP# and sent it, although her message was an hour old, and voila. Here are my bitcoins.   You do not have to worry about me being a shill, because I am a real buyer here - I was all up in the Cali debacle, the customs NL seizure issues on the shipping boards, etc.

So Mama is at least good for one !!!!!

I wish that SR management would think about policing "zero recourse settlements" of Moneypak, or whatever etc. There are many smart people here that are computer engineers, and some know about currency trading, I believe the SYG SumYun Gai, is a top notch coder.

I might be willing to invest a certain amount of money in launching a certified, insured exchange pool. I have to find SR hackers that can deal with trusted persons in MEAT SPACE.

I would solicit everyone's ideas about what would be a good method of fast BTC exchanges below say...500 USD - which is like 88% of of all SR transactions.

Me Too. Since Get-BitCoin.com has stopped it has been difficult.

Since when?  People are claiming they're still using it today.

I haven't seen any of that... they stopped accepting Moneypak as payment, supposedly until early next year.

KingJoey, I can't believe that happened to you. Imsaguy made my exchange quick and easy and I was a total n00b with no rep on the site. Sucks big time  :-\

I have been a vendor on SR for almost two months and recently a corrupted wallet screwed me out of $300.00.  I need to exchange my bitcoins and will accept moneypaks.  I have approx 120 bitcoins avail.  You can PM me with info and we'll see if we cannot help each other out.

Peace. 8)

I need to switch computers to my corrupted one and send my PM info to you shortly.  I am borrowing a laptop at the moment.
