Title: Scammed?
Post by: TFlenderson on October 27, 2011, 09:21 pm
I sent Borneo a moneypak card for 300$ about 10 days ago, never heard back, but SR was down during this time so I didn't think much of it. So a few days ago I sent the same code to SumYunGai hoping to finally get some bitcoin for my card, but he came back to me saying that when he ran it the card was empty and had been used on the 20th. I only sent it to these 2 users. I've used SumYunGai several times in the past and he's always come through, so I don't think he would try to cheat me, but Borneo has a huge reputation around here so I don't want to jump to conclusions about him either. I've tried to contact Borneo over the past few days but haven't heard a response.

Anyone have a recommendation what to do? Or should I just suck it up and take the loss?

Why not put a direct link to the seller? Since SR has only been up for a few days, I would wait for a message. If you do not get one by the November 2nd, I think it is safe to say you have been scammed. Sorry about that and best luck to you on our future endeavors.  Next time, have a better plan and check the forums.

P.S. Scammers, you suck and you have little dicks and no brains, being a thief is the easy way, stop being such a scum sucker.

I checked the forums a lot, the vendors I went to are the most reputable ones on silk road. :\

I understand, but I also have to say: any time we go outside escrow, we have no protection.  Sometimes we are dealing with 'selective' scammers, so even the forums don't protect you.  Our latest rips seem to have been mostly in bitcoins?  Why is that?  No escrow.  And then if they come thru for a few oldtimers, then they can rip to their heart's content.  There are warnings on the main forum, in the 'how to buy' sections, which tell people not to go outside escrow.  I know some reputable sellers request it: I'd just find other sellers, unless you are absolutely certain vendor is reputable.

I hate when this happens, I do wish there were some way to let newbies know, to buy their btc elsewhere, or SR might set up a bank, or anything other than what we've got.  Whether or not you dealt with reputable vendors or not, I don't know, I don't buy btc here, for the reasons stated.  Sorry, tho, as I said: hate to see it.

Both these guys are legit. I don't think you're being scammed.

However, I know that Borneo did have a downtime of a couple weeks, so i'm not sure if he's back online yet. When he gets back I'm sure he'll do right by you.

SumYunGai, Borneo, and BTC Buddy are legit BTC vendors.

SumYunGai isn't legit anymore. The biggest BTC scam yet.
