Title: Another Silk Road news report - by ABC.
Post by: Wepromisetwenty on May 23, 2013, 07:03 pm
CLEARNET:  http://www.abc15.com/dpp/news/local_news/investigations/dids-using-dark-net-to-have-drugs-delivered-but-parent-involvement-can-stop-use

I'd paste the article, but its badly written and not all about SR. The video is the more interesting part. Its basically a sob story, blaming Silk Road and the darknet for this kids death. Is this what we're going to start seeing now  - Silk Road blamed for overdoses, deaths, and ruined lives? Silk Road didn't kill this guy, his decision to take his drug habit to that level did. The emotive piano music really is the icing on the cake   :-\

People are always going to blame someone or something else for the what happens, never themselves or who they think they love (they think, because removing responsibility from another is not what love is).

It's also fun to see how the mother insisted she wanted the good of her son when she turned him to the police for drugs, hence ruining his life forever. To save his life? What life? The child will not probably have a life anymore just because you have destroyed it. You have turned your back into your son, you showed him that betraying an other human being is an acceptable thing, you have removed his trust from yourself and you have ruined his future. Good job. If you wanted to REALLY help him this was the worst thing you could do.

As for the other mother with the child that became insane, I would like to know the real story because something is amiss there. Much probably the little caring mother didn't tell the abuse she has given to her son, to the point of making him (some kind of drugs could naturally speed the process) going insane. There are so many mothers doing psychological abuse to their sons while thinking they do it "for their own good" (we have an example just above). When tragedies happens (as the boy turning into serial killer or insane) there's always something else to blame for it, as the drugs or the devil.

I agree something is missing in that part of the story - i don't want to stereotype or speculate, but by the looks of the mother, and the environment, this guy would surely have been exposed to drugs WAY before this place existed. Before Silk Road was even a twinkle in DPR's eye.

Blaming SR for these peoples troubles is just ridiculous.

We wouldn't blame gravity if we died from jumping off a cliff, so why do they blame SilkRoad when they die from drugs?

I mean seriously, "bath salts", if he's stupid enough to take something synthetic like that then he has to accept the risk himself, it's not like he ordered it not knowing what it was, it was perfectly clear to him what he was doing and the mother should stop blaming everyone else and realise that her son caused his own death, nobody else and if she wants to stop more deaths happening, then let more people use SilkRoad without persecution as here are where the quality drugs are, the stuff you buy on the street is the real danger to kids who don't know what they're buying.

You've hit the nail on the head there Stex, the very fact that he obtained the substance in question from Silk Road means that he did know EXACTLY what he was ordering. And also, that he received... exactly what he wanted, pure as pure can be.

If anything, it makes his decision to go out this way even more his own doing than it would be were it not SR related. Lets face it, you have to be pretty committed to get your shit here - its not spur of the moment. Its planned. You know what you're doing - and you even have time to reflect on it while your mailman gets his shit together.

Exactly, the average IQ here is probably triple that of street dealers and buyers and I know as a fact if you're unsure of product, a 5 second search on Erowid or asking the vendor for dosage information and associated risks is tapping on a wealth of knowledge, not 10th hand information and rumours. I feel a lot of people here will come and buy a gram of MDMA and snort 400mg or more in one go because that's the awful quality they're used to with street dealers saying it's pure stuff when usually it's less than 30% which is true in the UK at least.

Obviously its SR's fault!

Its not like this kid, found out how to buy drugs online, made an account on a site that lets you do that, got the drugs shipped to him and consumed them himself.

I didnt read article or watch video but this probably happens more often and isn't reported, better them than me.

RIP

I'm still a little new here so please forgive me if this is incorrect, but shouldn't a clearnet link be clear, like www.page.com/index.html?

Alright... The title of this thread is completely misleading. It's not a report on SR... *tunes out*

It was only a matter of time before stories like this (blaming SR for an overdose) started to emerge. People, parents particularly, need someone or something to blame to more easily explain a tragic event. SR is the easiest of targets.

Yeah - I second this. RC's have a real stigma attached to them, for the sheer fact there are so many 'unknowns' about them. I mean, what consitutes an 'RC'? Is it not just any man made, mind altering substance being sold for human consumption that hasn't yet been categorized by the law? Stands to reason that there'd be some fucking grim substances out there, but I think there are a few that are pretty decent. Seems like all the good ones get made illegal though  ::)

I tend to use the definition for these kinds of RCs as simply 'designer drugs marketed & used to circumvent current drug laws'...
