Title: Re: The NHS & Policies - UK
Post by: BarryBarron on November 18, 2012, 12:49 am
My current thoughts on the NHS is that it is an absolute joke, as described by the fact that you ended up going private for your treatment due to NHS waiting times.
The problem with the NHS is that it socializes individual risk. Everyone is liable for bad decisions of the individual. If someone wants to smoke or ski or shove lightbulbs up their arse is it moral to force 'society' to pay for their risks?
In  a free market health care system treatment and care would be paid for at the point of delivery or through an insurance scheme.  With private insurance people would have a tangible immediate incentive to be healthier and require less medical care: reduced premiums.

Quite simply the government can't afford it, and the sooner they give this golden cow the deadbolt, the better.
