Title: Bitwise Encrypted IM
Post by: awakened350 on July 18, 2012, 11:39 am
I've used OTR for IM up till now but it would be nice to use a serivce that is encrypted and P2P. Has anyone used http://www.bitwiseim.com/signup.php ?

I've heard of it in the past but dont have any hard facts on how secure it is.

First off, OTR is open-source, and was designed by Ian Goldberg, if memory serves -- Goldberg knows his stuff.

On the other hand, These other dudes are an unknown quantity. It was not immediately apparent that their software is open-source. Finally, their site requires Javascript to operate -- that, to me at least, is a red flag.  Personally, I wouldn't touch it.

Any thoughts on the best protocol to use with OTR? I love OTR I just would rather there not be sever side logs with all my encrypted messages. Sure they are encrypted but I'd rather logs not exist at all.
