I have cleared cookies and changed identities multiple times and I continue to get a three digit captcha.
-
Same issue here.
-
No doubt.
-
Seems like the site is down, it will come back shortly I'm sure.

Noooo Must buy Drugs!

Yo son. YOOOOOO Jack, SOOONNNNN
YES.
THIS.
Exactly.
Happening live, this shit is NOT working.
Thought I was going crazy.
You're always first,

P.S. Did anyone else get randomly kicked off during this too? Or were you trying to sign in fresh?
-
Yes, I went to check it out, and sho' nuff, I'm getting the same thing. Must have hit reload about 20 times. Still getting 3 digit captcha. One time I got a 2 digit captcha :o
-
i was window shopping for some H and got kicked out the site. i think it's a sign...
-
same here looks like we just have to wait.
-
Yep, no matter what, you just get a 3 digit captcha. Tried every trick in the book.
It'll be fixed soon I'm sure.
But it might be an indication of new feature(s) being implemented.
EDIT: It's back to operational status!

On fresh log in, this time.
But I've had previous times (over the last few weeks) where I was randomly logged off midway through browsing. The log-in page then came up with the 3 letter captcha.
Once I reloaded the log-in page all was fine though and I could log back in normally.
-
Think its safe to assume there's a problem with the site or DPR is working on some type of maintenance.
-
On!
-
Alright! Working now ;D
-
Likewise, all seems to be going well.

Here's a work around for the next time the captcha gets screwed up
Install these two add ons:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/cookie-exporter/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/cookie-importer/
You can install them in Tor Browser just fine. Login to the market and use the first add-on to export your the cookie to a text file. I believe it expires after 2 weeks, so you'll have to do it every two weeks. Then if the captcha is screwed up, use the second add-on to import your login cookie.
Works like a charm. :)

Astor, you're an invaluable wellspring of knowledge.
Please don't ever leave us.

Same thing just happened to me I just shut down and turned back on and everything was fine. Maybe it was just a matter of time and waiting but I am impatient.

haha, thanks.
One caveat: when you export the cookie, don't log out of SR. That will invalidate the cookie. Just close the tab or browser when you're done with that session.
Also, I looked at the cookie, and the expiration time is set to 0, so don't quote me on this, but the cookie may never expire.

That sounds dangerous. Add ons have the ability to see what URLs you are vising and contact other servers. It also makes your browser fingerprint extremely unique. Astor, I am extremely surprised that you would suggest to do something that could compromise your security and anonymity.

I honestly thought Astor's smiley face denoted he was being cheeky.
Maybe not.
Curiously yours,
Kenneth

You shouldn't willy-nilly install add-ons, but these are pretty harmless. They don't do anything over the network.
It also makes your browser fingerprint extremely unique.
These don't change web pages either. They simply interact with the cookie storage.
Add-ons that can make you fingerprintable are stuff like NoScript, if you have a unique set of whitelisted domains, or ad blockers, or anything else that changes the page or queriable system properties (like installed fonts).

Does this work for Tails too?

+1 I learned something from you today Astor.

It expires; sometimes you get a week, sometimes two, sometimes 12 hours. Also, bear in mind that anybody who gets their hands on your machine (or that file, or even just the info inside of it) will be able to do the same exact thing as you -- namely, use your account. Of course they can't do anything that requires your pin, but they could do a lot of damage with messages and orders alone.
Just thought it was worth noting.

I'm sure you've heard many warnings not to install add-ons or change the default TBB configuration, even from me. It's not that ZOMG if you install an add-on you will die. It's just that you have to understand the tools that you're using and their security risks, and most people are not competent to make that judgment, so the easy solution is to tell everyone not to fuck around with their settings.
95% of add-ons are probably safe to install, but nobody knows what all of the 5% dangerous ones are, so it's best for most people not to install any. These two have astor's seal of approval as being safe, if that's worth anything. :)
Does this work for Tails too?
Since Tails uses Tor Browser, yes. You'll have to enable the persistent volume to keep the installed add-ons.
-
+1 everyone.
God bless us, everyone,
Kenny

Thanks astor! You da man!! :) (Figured about the persistent volume thing)

Yep, but I already store my darknet passwords in a text file on encrypted media, so the threat doesn't change except the cookie is like a temporary password.
On the other hand, if the cookie can expire in as little as 12 hours, it may not be that good of a workaround. Thanks for the info, SS.

My information is based on the site behavior with respect to my stand alone client, which reported a different user agent (deliberately) than the Tor browser reports. That may or may not make a difference; regardless, don't hold me to that number, is my point. It's just an estimate -- on average it tended to last 3-7 days, so it's probably useful.

Login failed, please try again.
Been getting this for more than 24 hours now, my mate is getting is awell. Anyone else?!

was working fine couple of hours ago, now nothing.
