Title: Tails, Liberte, & Ubuntu live USB and Netgear WNA3100
Post by: anonypunk on April 20, 2013, 09:11 pm
I need to be using a live USB but I cannot get Tails or Liberte to recognize my wireless wifi card. I've gone through some steps to use it and I'm not a total noob when it comes to Linux. I know that I can make Ubuntu just as safe as Tails and Ubuntu recognizes that my Netgear WNA3100 is attached but I can't get it work. I've got the windows drivers that it needs and tried doing the ndiswrapper install to use those but I'm having a problem getting it installed. Currently I have Ubuntu on live USB and Tails and Liberte OS's downloaded and ready to go if they are easier. Does anyone have a solution or can you offer some advice to get any of these to work with my card? Thanks in advance.  :D

I've spent many hours wrestling with very poor Linux WiFi driver support.  I've had manufacturers include broken drivers (which wasted days of my time), then found a working version online.  Support for Linux is sometimes not just an afterthought, but seemingly a broken mess that they fobbed off on some bloody intern or something.  You may just want to use whatever works -- ultra safe or not, if the damn thing doesn't work and you're at the end of your wits, it's not the more secure option -- it's the fucking broken one.
