How big of a security risk is it to run an older version of Tor? A pop up screen comes up every time I start the browser, directing me to update to the most recent version. I've tried to install the new version but it keeps on saying the same thing. Should this be a concern, or is it a bug?
Thanks.

they just updated to FF17ESR so thats why everything is really screwy. you should be fine if you dont want to update now, but you should in the coming months as they improve the program.

It seemed like when I first saw that there was an update, that update was: 2.3.25-2
but then a few days later TOR told me there was another update and that update number was: 2.3.25-4
It seems like they skipped a version?

The version you want is 2.3.25-4
2.3.25-2 had issues, you can see the lines crossed through it on the TOR blog.
Delete the old one all together and get 2.3.25-4. I dont know how much of a security risk it is to run the old version at the moment.
Something really bugging my OCD with this new version is that my bookmarks menu is displaying the little website icons next to the website, where as before it was blank.
Its letting in some new information which the older version did not.

In the NoScript options, enable the checkbox for "block bookmarklets." That will prevent it from happening, LeBigMac.

Thanks SS, + <3
I wonder how many other options need changing on these things, I'm trusting default mainly.

Well, if you want my list of stuff that I always set back to the way I feel comfortable after updating...
browser.fixup.alternate.prefix = "" [as in blank]
browser.fixup.alternate.suffix = ""
network.websocket.enabled = false
webgl.disable-extensions = true
webgl.disabled = true
You don't need to change these things. I just like to. There's also a ton of stuff I change in NoScript, but that's a little harder to list... anyway, if it makes you feel more comfortable because you're blocking stuff that you never use anyway, then go ahead and change them. It's just for your peace of mind though.[/code]

Cheers man, Ill dig into NoScript some more ;)
Feel better knowing what bookmarklets are, hope there's not any kind of risk with them (im probably over thinking this metadata thing)
