Title: Posting images. Security risk?
Post by: android465764E on February 04, 2013, 02:22 am
So, uploading a pic from your device to SR (if it was even possible) is at best, not really secure.

But, surely there are anonymous image host sites withi tor?

Would like to be able to post sig pics, pics of goods received (exit data removed and no pics of pagckaging etc), and other pics i  the fourms.
Also some bb code would be good.

Someone educate me, why are pics not allowed? Even ones that are uploaded from onion image sites and not straight from pc.

Security issue I guess, which is why I posted it here.

You can upload an image (minus the meta data) using a free hosting site such as Anon Image - http://wuakd3inzzy5iz4w.onion/ or another is IMGuru - http://p7d2k2xiioailnuu.onion/  and put a link where you would want people to view it.

If you go to your profile, you'll see written to the left of the signature the following - " BBCode and smileys may be used in your signature."
Just click PROFILE then click FORUM PROFILE and there you can edit your sig.  :)

huh? (Ō_o) ...it IS spongebob, but are you seeing it embedded, or just clicking the link?
I can't see an embedded image. (´・_・`)?

My theory is that it's deliberately quarantined.  Think about it -- if the server just obeyed whatever silly links you put in your sig and fetched them all, finding out where it is and who owns it would be trivial.  From there SR is just a hop and a skip away.  So it can't be the server downloading the image and caching it.

Could be the client doing it, to be sure.  Just another image link to go off and download while putting together the final page.  But if that's the case, then (like you and me) most people will only see the alt text and not the image.  So in other words, I don't think it's gonna work.
