Title: Logged in to account and found an unexpected deposit of +2btc to my account??
Post by: ilovefood on January 06, 2013, 01:15 am
So as the subject says; I logged in to browse around and noticed to my surprise that my account had been debited for a little over 2 btc. . I checked account history and someone definitely deposited the btc into my account and it was DEFINITELY not me. I am an honest individual and would like to know if there is any way to return the btc to the person that deposited them or if anything can be done? I know if it were me and I accidentally deposited btc into someone's account not being my own I would be quite sad :). If anyone knows of anything like this happening?I'm going to contact staff and see what they say, but I guess I was more curious if this has happened to anyone before?

Search the transaction on blockchain? Still might be a shot in the dark sending to the right place back though, especially if it came from someones temporary wallet...

Blockchain will not help you with this. If it would SR is doing something wrong with their anonymizing.

If you don't need them you are welcome to give some to me?  ;D

Funny, someone deposited 2 btc that went missing... http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=103251

Most likely just a coincidence though.

Blockchain can definitely help with this if you know what address it was sent to. The anonymizing as you put it happens AFTER it gets sent to the BTC address on your account page. The BTC then get shuffled around and unless someone can directly link the specific addresses to SR, the entire chain is anonymous. When you withdraw it will come from a different address, that should have roughly no link to the one it was deposited to.
Checking blockchain you should be able to see directly where the funds came from if you know the address it was sent to (your SR address).

Something really fucking weird is going on with SR bitcoins... this is getting ridiculous.

But yeah, you'll be able to see the address that it was deposited from on blockchain.  How much that *really* tells you, well... that's another matter.
