Title: Is bitinstant working for everyone?
Post by: MR.X on December 29, 2012, 06:10 pm
I read a few people where having issues with Bitinstant recently can anyone confirm this.
Just want to make sure before I use them again.

I just had issues trying to deposit my cash at my place of deposit. Dude got an error in the MoneyGram program thing, despite all the info being input correctly. I didn't know there were issues for others recently; any like mine?

site works great... just make sure you pay the exact amount they ask or you'll be looking at a long transaction

I'll be trying a different location in a few minutes; if it happens again I'll try to get the scoop.

I did a moneygram transaction with them yesterday and I had to call Rachel to get it to go through.
She said they were having problems staying connected with zipzap. I assume that'a probably what going on here.

I'm beginning to wonder if BitInstant isn't actually going under or something.  Their business is a complete mess lately.  I mean an absolute unforgivable unprofessional mess.  It's not just their site or customer service.  Their API is down mysteriously for at least a week.  No explanation, no answers, no nothing as far as I saw.  Just keeps giving errors.

I had really started to think well of them, too.  Oh well.  If it isn't them, it'll be somebody else offering the service.

Deposited some coin earlier  all seems fine :)

This could be a good thread to help a few with bitinstant problems.

I apologize for it may be an off topic question but this "blue slip" everyone mentions that you fill out your info to make the deposit at a moneygram in CVS.... is it in every CVS?

Because I swear every time I passed by the red phone at a CVS all I saw was the red and white slip.   Did I miss it?

Thanks

All I needed for CVS was the zipzap printout, which may be the "blue slip" people are referring to. You just pick up the phone, read them a number from the printout, tell them your info, then walk to the counter and tell the cashier your name/transaction #.

I just did a CVS transaction yesterday morning, and it went thru no problem. Called on the red phone, gave the info and
paid at the counter. No ask for ID or anything. By the time I got home (15 min or so) it was already on its way.

I was having problems other morning getting my payment slip to even generate the other morning. They told me their site is bugging out if people try to use capital letters while filling everything in before generating payment slip. Sure enough after dropping everything to lower case all went smoothly. Hope that helps someone

So its not a issue getting them through bitinstant even with the 'Cert' Warning that comes up before letting you on? I hope these guys stay up and running cause its the easyiest and cheapest way IMO.. All i do is print the Slip, go to this little cashier check place that has money gram, i give them the info they put it in the computer i pay i leave// No issues, the people dont even know what it is..

They are processing payments by hand because a problem out of their control.

But they're getting to it as of last night.

Here's a clearnet link to Bitinstant's support thread on bitcointalk

Apparently all orders in the last 20 hours were affected.
Dammit!!! I wants my money!!!

ended up going to a nearby CVS where the manager was helpful but they indeed did screw up my order on the MoneyGram end after 2 times on the red phone. I ended up not doing it and going home with my cash at the advice of the manager herself. doesn't bode well for my future business with Bitinstant, if there is any...

This sounds frustrating, but let cooler heads prevail!!  Bugs happen in large systems, at least you can count on bitinstant having the people power to try and fix it in a timely manner.

i didnt want to make a new thread so i'll ask here, where do europeans get bitcoins nowadays? i remember i bought some from SugarMama like 6-7 months ago via moneygram, but she doesnt sell via moneygram anymore, so my question is, where the hell do i get bitcoins? since all the vendors on silkroad seem to be using only moneypak..

Started a thread in the Security section in regards to having issues recently...everything seems to be fine for me at the moment and will be heading up to my red phone location shortly so I'll be sure to give some more input as the evening goes on. But the problems I was having which I was referring to in my thread was that I was getting the Untrusted / Connection error which had me quite concerned to say the least. It started yesterday for me and was still trying it before calling it quits around 5am my time. Anyways, this afternoon everything appears to be up and running fine now. Let's just hope everything goes well with the transactions! Fingers crossed!

With all the issues going on with bitinstant lately, I'm starting to think I really need to come up with another source but realized, I know of NO other options lol. So could any of you point me in the right direction of where I can find help in this area of things?

Will update later tonight for you guys!

The blue slip is at Walmart, not CVS. I've done the bitinstant deposits at both stores. At CVS, you use the red phone and then pay at the counter. At Walmart, you fill out a blue slip and then pay at the counter.

I also wanted to add that I did a bitinstant deposit today at Walmart and it went through fine. I actually deposited it right into my SR address for the first time (the last bitinstant deposit I did was supposed to go to my instawallet, but instawallet was having problems and I didn't get my coins for 24 hours, and I didn't want to deal with that again). I did the deposit around 12pm and it was in my SR account by 2pm. So bitinstant seems fine right now.

The website has been going on and offline all day.  I managed to get a payment slip after about 20 minutes of refreshing.  Everything went smoothly afterwards.

Huh, that's odd, it worked fine for me earlier. I made my payment slip around 11:30am EST, drove to Walmart and paid it at 12:00pm EST and had bitcoins in my SR account by 2pm EST. I guess I was lucky? My last bitinstant transaction got messed up because instawallet was down for a day. I guess the bitcoin gods didn't want me to have bad luck twice!

Yeah I have become concerned for BitInstant during the last few months.  They seem to be losing partners left and right, and their site is always full of bugs / glitches.  I'm going to start transitioning toward LocalBitcoins.com since you don't have to worry as much about $500 limits and stuff.

I used bitinstant yesterday and it worked for me, even though there was a minor conflict because I didn't input the exact amount. The coins were waiting for me when I got home.

I just used it last night for the first time and it went smooth, efficient and quickly. A++ BitInstant through CVS to MtGox, then to BitFog and SR Wallet. Couldn't be happier.

this is the email support sent me:

"Hey,
I'm sorry about the delay, myself and our developers have been working thru Saturday night getting this resolved.
It seems the ZipZap and Moneygram system has been down and not alerting us of paid transfers.
Cloudfare which we use for DoS protection changed their configuration which led to SSL certificates being changed.
Everything is fine, and were fixing it now and processing the orders by hand.
Thanks for your patience. The issue is resolved, and orders are processing now!
"Thanks,

Charlie

i'm still waiting to get my coins and i did my transfer saturday night :/

Charlie Shrem's the CEO.  I'm sure it was a stock letter, but apparently they recognize how serious things look and are trying -- even if they're failing, at least they're trying, right.  Get your coins yet?

having problems with it right now zipzap > bit instant > bitstamp, first two said payment cleared but it never made it to my bitstamp, got a weird error in my confirmation from bitinstant that said "APIResponse: {"error": {"amount": ["You have only $0.04 available. Check your account balance for details."]}}" never had this problem before, e-mailed bitinstant support 2x times in the last 24 hours, no response so im hoping that's because of the holidays and volume of problems because they were fast to fix an issue i had a few months back.......

Look who it is again, drdroopy. I'm fed up with your shit faggot. The other day when you called me a newfag, yeah, haven't forgotten about that yet. Fuck you I've been on here for months and probably get on here more than you anyways. Don't you know that you make yourself look like a newfag when you call others newfag?

Just because you learned how to hack your name and change it to "drdroopy" does not give you the right to disrespect anyone at any time.
