So iv been trying to get on for a hour now, finally it got on, then as im trying to Make something happen it stops and goes to problem loading page/ FFS!! All the damn money SR is making at least Up grade the servers Guys!! This sucks! i NEVER complain about its workings but today its just pissing me off.. I guess cause im on a time frame and it looks like im not gonna make it before i have to leave...Damn it!!

Yea, I had trouble connecting last night(couldn't) at my friends house. Been trying all morning so far and still it has yet to load for me. This will be my first order and I'm trying to make it as soon as possible :(

I've tried different tor sessions, different computers, different houses, still not even a log on page.

Its let me on a couple times but then it starts going soo slow i cant do nothing.. I got 1 damn thing i need to do and thats it.. Its 1:06 pm where i am.. Late at night is bout the best time

lol AA. Borrow my laptop. It's the only one that seems to be able to get on oma (on my ass). Try closing some windows initially, and only starting Tor in windowed mode.

It's been slow for me but I've had no trouble navigating through SR, have placed orders and sent messages okay.

I'm in the same boat. I've got a few things to do, and I think I may be getting screwed by a vendor (who I want to message in hopes of sorting shit out) and all I'm getting is "problem loading page." I love SR, but this shit is getting seriously old.
And now the forums are giving me shit, too. Fantastic.
On a related note, who else thinks we need a stickied thread for venting our SR-related frustrations?

it fucking sucks...i got the fucking try again page too the whole day i tried it since 16.00 pm but it dont work :(
but i dont know who is responsible for this....
i really love the sr sevice....and i am happy that its there....so dont can complain about that...Finally, it is not obvious that such a thing exists. When DPR would says I dont wanna work here anymore and sit down with his millions off on an island .... then we would all look stupid ;)
so dont complain so much on that..because DPR i still behind to fix it i guess ;)

Not working for me either. Haven't been able to get on since yesterday. I think it's just the insane amount of traffic with all the people that got money for xmas clamoring to buy drugs haha. I was able to get on once or twice very late at night (EST) this week and everything was lightning fast! I'm currently trying to communicate with a vendor as well who can't get his shit straight on PGP. Guess I'll have to buy my new year's party favors locally and risk getting fake shit :/

well i got on, after 2 hrs of shit, then it was running fast and doing great, then sLOOOWWD down again to 'Connecting' or Problem loading ur page..FUCK THE ROAD ATM!! LOL ..SR ADMINS!!! I've been trying to log on for the past few hours, it says 'We are currently doing server maintenance. Please check back in 6 to 8 hours.' Anyone else get this?

yes I think heavy traffic, 3 or 4 hours ago I was on fine and it was fast, the time it goes slow is the evening in europe, people getting in from work or college and logging on, and also people getting up in america and logging on, it's just the main peak time. this must really be a pain in the arse for american vendors.

The only time I have seen this (without a notification message from DPR, which there is none, and other people have not complained of this....) is when I typed FAKE credentials into the wiki phishing site posted the other day.... I would look at the URL you typed your info into before seeing that message.

Judging by the replies in this thread... it's the site. Running slow... and some of us on shitter computers are having a hard time even connecting. While others can.. but very slowly.
I'm on for the 5th time today, but it's taking forever to load anything.
Just need to make a purchase, and obviously my BTC vendor is having issues too, cause my account has not yet been credited. Womp womp! SR is definitely an awesome concept... but some kinks still need to be worked out. Would be nice if the site went private for a few months, while buffing up it's user capacity and bandwidth... SR should do limited registration and invite only. Or simply only allow 'new' Sellers, not new buyers...
Every time the site is updated, some major news article comes out 'promoting' this site, and suddenly we get a surge of newbs and shit connection for weeks making it next to impossible to do business swiftly, and efficiently. IF the site were stable, DPR would be making more money faster. Sacrifice some potential "newbs" for site stability. Just sayin'
It is a "traffic jam" issue. It just about always is. Even the alleged DDoS I think was actually server overload, right after that Storm Sandy took out a few hundred FIOS servers in lower NYC, where a shitload of world traffic passes through.
Also you're right about computer quality. It's like the difference between driving a Ford Escort, vs a Ford Escape with 4WD with 10 inches of snow on the ground.
I have a Sony Vaio, just under 2 years, but it seems to grab a picture or thumbnail of everything I look at! - Like even logos of bitinstant are saved as PNG files. Finally a geek squad dude showed me this software that's one of those "Driver/Registry" fixers, but it also takes care of those cookies, and thumbmmails.
I got back like 3.2 GB of memory. Did disk cleanup, clicked everything removed, did fragment of hard drive. Then over last week ran a few other nifty features on it.
Not only is the computer like new. I can get on google to a website just a hair over 60 secs from turning the laptop on! - SR comes up in less than 2 mins!
Today, I saw it slowing down. The green circle spinning for a minute or two. I just open up forums on another tab and give out my priceless advice! - You're forever in debt for that btw.
So if you can't afford a new one. (who can?), try cleaning and tweaking the one you're on!
Also if you're on the east coast of the USA, starting around now, I never have problems. Now being 9pm,. (2:00am UTC) it peaks from 10p to 12a EST, That's because its anywhere from 3am to 6am in places like Germany, NL, France, England, etc. - I usually stay up all night, and around 3am NY time, it starts to get slow for me. That's when all of Europe is out of bed, doing things, and on SR!!!
So timing is one thing. Figure, day after Christmas, a lot of us were going nuts because of that "one less" mail delivery day. I got one of the three orders I've been whining about for the past week. Evilution (good speed). So what did I do right after that? - OF COURSE! Go on SR to leave feedback!! I'm so happy!!! - Then as the sun rises on the western US, the same scenario happens. OR someone got disappointed again so they logged on to see, "when was that shipped again".

Jesus Greynick. That sucks. Given you're a full member, why the hell did you go from Wikipedia? We've been talking under wet cement about this all month lol. This launches the phising web site that asks for your PIN. Don't ever give this out. If you are asked for it you know something's up. Good thing it was 4 BTC and not 40, still, you could have bought some top quality beer and cheap porno for that amount. Next time bookmark it! You DO know the address, right?

Weird. I thought the faster your CPU the faster it would load. At least, it is with the blockchain synthesising or whatever the hell it's called.

I swear, people, this really is the truth: you could have a million dollar behemoth of a computer that's so fast it could crack all of our PGP encrypted addresses by brute force in a matter of minutes, and it still wouldn't load Silk Road any faster than a barely-still-working Pentium 1 from the 1990s.
Tor hidden services (that's what Silk Road is) aren't as easy to interact with as typical sites. You connect to several different computers in order to get to Silk Road. If any of the links between you and the site are slow, Silk Road is going to appear that slow. You literally are probably bouncing your connection through Germany, India, Switzerland, and God knows where else on the way to Silk Road. Making sure you can actually connect to Silk Road, while still making sure nobody can actually find the damn thing, isn't all that simple to accomplish. Think about it -- there has to be essentially no way to find the server, but your connection still has to find the server to connect to it. I mean it's amazing it works at all.
It could be loading instantly for me and be slow as molasses for you because you're in a different location and your Tor program chose a different path to get to SR. That's not *always* why it's slow or unstable, but it is frequently. That means the server could be just as fast as all of Google's put together, and it may not make any difference at all.
