i made a transaction through coinbase.com a few days ago, and i was told my bitcoins would appear in my coinbase wallet on today's date at a certain time. it is over 6 and a half hours past that time, and they are not here. still, my bank account is still debited and missing the money. as a matter of fact, the transaction is no longer shown as pending. coinbase.com does not show any record of my transaction, despite me still missing the money. what happened?

I'm not sure. I'd suggest asking the service you used via support email.

So, first of all: Silk Road and bitcoins technically have nothing to do with each other. Second, It seems Coinbase had some problems of late. They'll sort you out if you contact support.
