Title: bitinstant cash limit
Post by: CarlYoung on December 12, 2012, 06:36 pm
We're sorry, but there is a 980.0 limit on cash transactions.  WTF?   I need to get some $$ in an account!?

What exactly is your question?

P.S. - your last name is spelled Jung, by the way.

I know it's spelled Jung.  What is the cash limit?  I thought it was $999.  I got so low it was at $600.  Is it because it's a fake e-mail/identity I used 2 weeks ago?

No.  I think their system is just... fucked.  Try putting in any number at all, they'll come back and say that's the limit.  It's really 500.  Go below 500 and it'll work.

Yeah, you can do up to $2,000 a day through multiple transactions.  How much do people use an identity before switching it?

Why would you switch it...?  If they can find you through the identity you're claiming, then it's suspicious and weird to be using the fake one to begin with.  If they can't... fuck it, why switch it?

To actually answer you, I always used the same identity.  I now get my bitcoins another way though.

I read something *really* strange in the FAQ section of their site today, something to the effect that your per-transaction-limit is dynamically calculated, and can be anything from 500 to 999, one of the weirdest things I've ever heard of.  Fuck it, let me go look it up and I'll put it here, just to make sure I wasn't dreaming...

Ok, here it is, WTF?!, this is straight from their site:

...
What's with these transaction limits?

You may have noticed our service limits transactions: each transaction has a dynamic limit calculated by our model but the limit will never exceed a 3 digit number (that is, the highest limit that will ever be possible per transaction for our service will be precisely 999). On top of this, we limit overall amount per-user within any single trading period to far below regulatory requirements - although we no doubt are turning away some users who are disappointed by this policy, it is in everyone's interest to maintain it.

... I don't have a clue what that means, nor does it fit the behavior I've seen.  Maybe it's bullshit.  Maybe it used to be true but is outdated.  Maybe that's why they keep coming back and bitching that whatever amount you put in over $500 is their limit (I tested once, it literally matched whatever I put in as long as it was over 500).

Who knows man.  I sure don't, anyway.
