Title: 44 hours and still no BTC using Bitinstant
Post by: TrashBox on December 12, 2012, 03:27 pm
I've emailed them 3 times and no response.

I deposited around $300 using the "walmart/moneygram-bitinstant/zipzap-SR wallet" method.

I know that it's been working quickly for some people, though...

Probably best to PM you. I have had some great responses from their customer service. They are good people. This is the middle of Chanukah, and I assume the slowdown may have something to do with that. Many of the names I've dealt with there are Hebrew. Not being judgmental, I'm just from the area-(Long Island/NYC). Things tend to slow down because of Chanukah + Christmas.

I'll check it out, and PM you back.

Hang in there.

Also, always take screen shots of each page (might be too late now), if you need help doing that, I'll teach you as well. - Hang in there. I'll do what I can.

Haven't heard from you! Hopefully your problem is resolved. I already sent them a message, just stating that someone on a Bulletin Board, used by Bitcoin Shoppers. (Believe me they don't want to hear the name Silk Road or even a hint at the initials SR)

They instantly replied, that my message was received an would be responded to ASAP.

Tell us show you did!!

Good Luck!

Be careful with this guy helping you, don't give him your transaction numbers or any of that shit. Bitcoins are legal to buy but there's no reason to start giving out info to random forum members...

/Agree, this guy basically just threatened to take SR down for a month unless DPR complies with his demands... either a troll or an idiot.  Either way you don't want him having any of your transaction info.

Their Customer Service is amazing.
They also have some bitcoin forum presence a couple places and have had luck.
Any issue I have had resolved in less then a couple hours.

They are all correct.

I'm a man, and accept the lumps I'm being given here.  I did post a ridiculous rant about "taking down SR"

I will remove that. I was pissed because I had just gotten scammed. After 30 transactions, and excellent stats, you'd think I'd have learned.

Also (and this is no excuse-just a reason) I was out of adderall, and was going through those 3-4 depressing days that follow, for me anyway. Mix that with Xanax and Alcohol, and I'm one big asshole.

All good advice about not giving your name to "this guy" though. - I was just going to ask for your last name or something, not get "all your info"

I was being sincere in my desire to help. I was the noobiest newbie, and so many good people helped me, I just wanted to return the favor.

These are my buying stats. Just to show you I'm no lurker or whatever it was I was called. "Troll" I think.
Total transactions: 38
Total spent: $2271.86

Though I've been on SR since April, I never really got into the forums that much until the outtage last month. So that's what took me so long to get up to 100 posts. Not that amount of posts means anything really,  but it does carry with it a reputation, and I have to defend that. As well as fess up when I've been an asshole.

So sorry about that post on the DPR "Update" Thread.

It's coming down now. -

Just another mixed up drug addict I guess.

"Don't Judge Me Too Harshly" - Brian Jones's epitaph.

Peace

I'm sure BitInstant will help you out. Try the phone number they list for urgent matters, is my best advice.

I can see now, how I looked pretty shady with my willingness to help.

Good thing there are good people on here, that cautioned you, It was the the right thing to do.

I'm going to go enjoy the speed I finally got this morning, and I have a few more "real life" apologies to make.

Take it easy everyone.

Again, I apologize for my idiotic behavior on the other thread, - fixing that now.

Question for anyone who's had to contact Bitinstant support... how do you handle this if you've provided all fake personal information, which most of us do?

Aww, but jagfug... I didn't think you were the sort of bloke to do such things :(  Disappointing to hear.  Total +1 for being honest and explaining though man.  Speaks very well of your character.  I'd trust you.

... well okay, I don't even trust myself... but I'd believe you're trust worthy!   :P

You have to call and speak to "Rachel." She is the CSR there and you also better not have thrown away that page that shows you all the Recipt information. I'm talking about that page between the beginning page and then between zipzap.... there is a "Cash" button on that page. Next time copy paste that info. Also.... don't use bitcoin address method that is Stuipd! You're supposed to transfer the USD to either Mt.Gox or BTC-e.This allows you to make trades at the lowest market value. BTC-e has less fees than Mt.Gox.... about half the fees. Call Rachael. She will get you fixed up in about 5 mins. You should have called first thing.

Come to think of it, the last 3 Bitinstant transfers I've done, I've needed to call Bitinstant CSR. This is probably something they are doing to collect free money from those who give fake info. Warning. Using Bitinstant with fake names may cause you to give your money to them for free (this is unverified). Next time use your real info and then send your bitcoins to Bitfog before you come to SR. Shes gonna ask you for your name.

Call this # with your transaction ID ready: 1-716-712-4846

You're completely over thinking this, here let me explain to you in kindergarten terms.

Step 1: Get all your paperwork you have for the transaction

Step 2: Call the # I provided in the post above

Step 3: Say, Hi I made a purchase here is my transaction ID # and my coins haven't showed up to the address I provided

Step 4: Profit

That's it...

Thanks for the breakdown, NotSpace.
I spoke with Rachel. She is working on it now. Will update when I get some answers.

probably she fixed it already. shes very fast at whatever the problem is. Since you chose to have coin sent to SR, expect 1-2 hour delay to see the coins. If you had sent it to BTC-e or Mt.Gox it would have been almost instant.

In case you cannot or do not want to call and get no answer from support - You can try the bitcoin talk forum as bitinstant is active and present and ready to help. Got a problem sorted out in 5 minutes after waiting hours for an email.

Did you *69 the call? Surely you didn't use your real info and deposit to your SR address...

I want to use bitinstant... I've used them in the past successfully, but soon I want to use them for the largest amount of $ yet. Now I'm paranoid about losing my money.

So if they don't send me my BTC I can most likely get a hold of support on bitcoin talk using my fake info and transaction information?

I don't want to call them...

Eh, you worry too much.  I don't think it's possible to recognize a Silk Road bitcoin address as belonging to a Silk Road member -- for all intents and purposes, it's just another random bitcoin address out there, somewhere... beyond the wild blue yonder.  And all that jazz.

... yeah, that didn't flow as well as I intended.  Oh well.  A facetious attitude can't come out right all the time, I guess.

You guys know you can send your coins to an offline wallet it doesn't have to be directly to sr, right?
