Yeah, I did that once just to see what would happen.  I'm curious like that :)  Withdrew 1 bitcoin, and ended up going to sleep thinking "hrm, well that was boring... all I did was lose a bitcoin."  Woke up the next day and there it was again.

No worries, should be fine.  If not, contact support in a day or two.

This isn't exactly related, but, I am new here and I just did a test deposit from a btc address to my sr account and it hasn't show up yet (it's been two hours so far). It has 22 confirmations on the blockchain. I'm not really sure what confirmations are so perhaps someone can explain what that means...lol

Anyway, it was a deposit of 0.003 btc, I was just wondering if that deposit amount was, perhaps, too small to show up on the SR account and, if so, do I need to make a larger deposit for funds to show up in the account? Like 0.5BTC or 1BTC, would that be sufficient? Is there a minimum deposit amount?

I haven't clicked 'get new address' yet b/c I'm not sure if that would cause complications or what. I was hoping someone could chime in and explain some things.

From other issues I've seen since I've been here, I can say with relative certainty (even though I didn't write the software) that SR rounds the account balance for displaying purposes and all other purposes -- but basically, the full balance is preserved in their database it seems so that you don't lose anything to rounding errors.

If it's cutting off the decimal places after 2, then yeah, it wouldn't show.  Switch to "display prices as USD" on the settings page, and it should show up.  I mean .003 bitcoins rounded to two decimal places is .00 bitcoins, but .003 bitcoins as equivalent value in USD rounded is (grabs the calc) .04 cents :p

You shouldn't have any problems generating a new address to deposit your real desired amount into the account though.  You may or may not lose those 4 cents -- I have no clue, really, but you should be fine with whatever comes after you generate it.

Thanks, Sov!

I changed the display currency to USD like you said and there was the $0.04 balance, lol.

Much love and respect,
Many blessings

I was just wondering, should I generate a new address or should I just keep the current one I have?

I mean, if the transaction was successful, would I really need/want to change the btc address? I guess it doesn't matter?

Also, how do you send someone karma?

Hi swaarvy,

Hit 'get a new address' every time before you transfer Bitcoin to Silk Road, and wait for it to arrive before you hit 'get a new address' again. Then transfer more if needs-be, wait for that to get to your account, and before you transfer more hit 'get a new address' again.

That's the process you need to use to avoid any "BTC lost in SR" issues. If every user did this there would be no "Bitcoin not arriving" threads.

The ability to give positive or negative karma becomes available when you have made 100 posts.
