I have a vague recollection that weed is the most popular one, and I know some people puff like demon-fueled steam engines, but it never struck me as the sort of thing that would make a huge profit. But wtf do I know, I don't even like weed to begin with. So moving on. I'm just curious and interested in what people who don't spend all their time in the amphetamine threads and categories do all day long :)
How large a market is self medicating at a clinical dosage, also? Anyone know? Clinical as in you'd get a script from your doctor for a comparable amount.

Well all we can do is speculate on the clinical users since there really isn't any hard data. Someone may eat a bit of meth to improve productivity at work or for studying, or someone may shoot some smack to help with their chronic pain, because it gets the most bang for their buck.
I would say that the market for clinical use opiates is quite high, but well behind the recreational and addict market. As for amphetmaines (including meth), there is a huge mix of people who take it for various reasons. Personally, I take amphetamine and meth occassionally to study, or to get high, or to focus; all in different doses, sometimes to achieve euphoria, sometimes not.
If you want to know the most profitable drug to sell, the tell-all would be the categorization of drug listings by "bestselling". You'll notice the ones that are addictive such as meth and heroin top the charts month after month. Now when you speak of profits, you have to consider that there is a cost to obtaining such substances. This would depend on your connections.
I would have to say that an insured individual with access to large quantities of prescription opiates or amphetamines have some of the best profits, since in many cases the drugs are free and the revenue is all profit. There is a limit to this however, because no insurance company in the world will pay for a gram a day of Dexedrine or Oxymorphone.
The biggest profits, therefore, lie in the illicits that can be manufactured and obtained at a low bulk cost to sell high. Meth could top this list because it can be produced in the countries that have high demand for it, which allows for high prices to be charged since many like to buy from domestic or otherwise "unflagged" countries.
With the proper connections and larger operations, heroin would probably come next because of its high addictive potential, as well as clinical use. This requires complex and trusted connections, as well as having control of trafficking routes if you want to make BIG profits. The alterative is to buy from the importers and markup, which still generates a lot of revenue when bought in amounts exceeding $100K USD.
Cocaine would also be up there, but I think cocaine is overpriced and always will be because of the nature of the trade. In this case, you make the best profits by running a cartel. Don't want to drive to work in the morning and see your family lynched over the overpass? Buy from them at increased prices after it gets into the countries with high demand for it. You'll pay a lot, but if you get a good connection, the purity will be good and u can adulterate it to increase the volume by 100%. People will still buy it and like it, but this market is not as big as it used to be, considering the duration of high and the price.
Weed, as you said is reasonable profit, but it's a highly competitive market and markups dont touch those of the substances mentioned above, even when growing your own.

Thank you for that sincere nd well considered answer. Was more than I expected, and definitely brought up some points I hadn't considered.
Sometimes I really do enjoy this place. In several ways. I can understand why you'd tailor your answer toward those looking to maximize profit, but honestly I really am just curious. I find it fascinating how well the community here actually functions (in general, not just one respect). How there are those that do basically nothing except consume drugs and sell drugs day in and day out (no judgements, just an observation), and those who may never have tried a single one before and just want to see what it's like.
In the -- I guess 6 months that I've been here, I've been constantly surprised at the level of integrity the people I interact with have. Well, let me blunt: in how much character and integrity the people who sell meth to me have. All the dealers I've ever known (in person and been friends with, I don't mean just known as an acquaintance) did it primarily because they dearly loved being so sought after. Cocaine, weed, a half a dozen different thing all at once... it was usually the same. But I was never interested in selling and didn't stick around if I didn't like them personally, so I suppose I wouldn't know the ones who were in it for purely ambitious reasons no matter how many there are.
It's too bad there's no way to get reliable data about why the people who sell the harder, more volatile drugs here started and continue. And I have no doubt many sell what they sell because it's what they happen to have access to and no other reason.
And I'm sure there are some very vicious, indifferent people who don't give a fuck as long as they keep getting paid and think hard junkies always keep coming back to pay. From my perspective though, most seem to actually care beyond just avoiding bad reviews. It may say quite a bit about my cynical outlook, but that still surprises me after 6 months.
Ah well; enough rambling. Back to some work and then, if I have any semblance of common sense, to bed. Thanks again for the sincere response.

This is purely only going on comparison of prices on Silk Road (from Europe) compared to street prices in Australia, but from what I've seen speed is by far the cheapest. 2 grams come's in a 23 bucks, the same would be about 300 to 400 on the street here. I did read in the speed thread that quality in Australia is higher but I don't know how much substance that has, and even the seller himself on SR said once you dry the speed you'll lose about 30%, so that 23 bucks is actually closer to 30, but it's still much much cheaper.
Obviously that isn't exactly what the OP asked for as it doesn't necessarily mean speed is the most profitable drug to sell. Just thought I'd throw it in there.
It's interesting that the OP mentioned weed. I still can't understand why weed is so popular on here. It takes up a lot of space for posting, it smells more than any other drug so harder to hide, and it's generally the easiest drug to find locally.... But as with the OP I don't like weed. I'm an uppers man through and through :)
