Title: keyboard shortcut for changing identity ?
Post by: nabisco on November 09, 2012, 10:18 am
Was wondering if this is possible? Would save a lot of time if this could be done. Anyone know?

As far as I know you can not do it.

I'm just wondering tho, how long does it take you to click twice if you consider that is taking a lot of time?

It would be especially useful with all these failed logon attempts after this last week. Having to change identities 15-20+ times, it gets frusterating after a while.

The graphical user interface actually just connects to a port on your local computer and sends commands to the tor program when you click on stuff.  You could set up a hotkey to run a little script that does the same thing Vidalia (the graphical interface) does.  But it's got authentication that's random by default, I think, so you'd either have to disable authentication or automatically determine the password Vidalia generates or something.  A lot harder than a quick and easy command or something.

Other than that, I don't think there's any way to do it.
